Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Hi,
I have a 2012 fazer crossed 33,000 km. When my bike has crossed 26000 km, there is a tick tick sound came left side of my bike engine. The mechanic has said the sound is due to clutch bell, the screws has to be tighten and has to do some lathe work. After he serviced there is no extra sound from engine.
But within a month the same sound problem has started. This time he said its a valve issue, we need to remove the engine head to service it.
I am not interested to open my bike's engine so without servicing it the bike has crossed another 7000km. Every 3000km I used to change engine oil and air filter.
My bike's mileage is very low now, my bike is giving 40km/Rs.100. Per litre petrol cost is Rs.67. For this reason I visited another mechanic. He said that for the tick tick sound, valve, piston and cam chain has to be serviced. And also he showed me a black smoke in the exhaust. Estimated cost for repairing all this are around 4000 rs.
Please suggest me whether I can service my bike engine to resolve the black smoke and tick tick sound.
How can I increase my bike's mileage.
Thanks in advance.
Sorry for the long post.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Tick tick sound is due to loose tappets and the same has to be tightened to correct setting when the engine is 'dead cold'. Make sure you be there when the tappets are adjusted.Originally posted by sivanivas View PostHi,

Mileage for FZ is generally 35-40kmpl only. The real beauty lies in throttle's twist!!
Headlight can be replaced, Head cannot be. Wear a helmet.

I will record a video of my engine sound and post here..
And for mileage, my bike is giving 40km for 100 rs petrol (~1.4litre).

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Facing a weird issue with clutch lever play. If I lessen the play of lever, the gear shifts become hard and if play of lever is more, the shifts are normal.
Also, the lever needs to be released more when the play is less, but same isn't the case when play is more. The real beauty lies in throttle's twist!!

Getting some khat - khat sound from rear wheel while deaccelerating or while giving acceleration. I went to service asked the mechanic he told that sprocket needs to be change . He didnt saw the bike. I told him that bike is 14500 km done. He told fz need to change the sprocket at 13k km. Is it so?

Purely depends upon the usage pattern and maintenance/cleaning/lubing schedule.Originally posted by Anunay View PostGetting some khat - khat sound from rear wheel while deaccelerating or while giving acceleration. Stickers will fade and you run the risk of vandalism. Use rubbing compound and wax to fill the scratches.Originally posted by Anunay View PostAnyone knows how to get graphic stickers online/banglore for fz16. I got sone scratch on my tank. Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Yes bro. You need to go for an overhaul of the front fork. I face the same issue. Authorised service will charge you 450 for fork. For handlebar 231 rs. I think for handle he took much more.
