Well I am in typical city limits.... Drive at 10-20-35 km/h speedsOriginally posted by dude_phenom View PostYour mileage calculation is accurate only. Tank full to tank full method. But the number you are getting is wayyyy too low. I got about 37 during run-in which was itself considered low. I hope you are keeping the rpm limits as mentioned in the book.
Only suspect is someone stealing fuel. Or the carb is tuned for a richer mixture.
For me after 1st service the mileage only dropped as I used to rev it high.
and sometimes i rev the rpm upto 4.5k rpm... at speeds of 50+ km/h
Is it so strict to follow the initial speed and rpm limit in the RUN-IN period...

+1 to that..Originally posted by RanjithMN View PostBest is to stay away from Filters.
getting even a decent improvement from filters require a long term experiment with diff. jet size and tuning.
and until then you are harming the engine!
YAMAHA has done lots of research and use of technology for building fz and other bikes as well. so why install other thing which wouldn't suit it, example
any other headphones other than original in your apple i-pod plugged wouldn't create great output of sound as compared to original apple earphones) so the same thing in bikes stock air filter is been built after great research.
yaa please follow it other wise your bike will burn not one but many holes in your pocket after-wards..Originally posted by hemantbetala View PostWell I am in typical city limits.... Drive at 10-20-35 km/h speeds

wouldnt agree to that as the bike's developed by these manufacturer's are developed while keeping a price point in mind... if they start installing things like filters, free flows into them the price will rise significantly and the milleage of the bike will take a serious hit.....Originally posted by malikkhan095 View Post+1 to that..

no but it might be just because we dont know how to do it and the amount of increase is also minimal unnoticeable by most people.... but i think that performance can be measured if we use a dyno test...Originally posted by senotrius View Postwell do you know of anyone using filters and getting better performance?Timon: Orange Yamaha FZ16 2009

Whoa man hemant. At those speeds you should definitely not get such low mileages...Originally posted by hemantbetala View PostWell I am in typical city limits.... Drive at 10-20-35 km/h speeds

Like the manual said its not recommended to stay above 4.5k for long durations. So shooting up and then coming down is totally cool.
I guess you better keep a much closer eye on your bike. Or try a shell petrol bunk just to make sure the pump guy aint taking you for a ride.
Everyone falls down, doesn't matter...
But its how fast you get up, that matters.....

If we approach the Yamaha dealers in the city we are moving to, wouldnt they help us in getting it done?? I mean sure they'll charge some "fees" but I reckon it'll be less than the amount we'd lose in selling off the bike.Originally posted by kinshuk.arya View Postchanging the bike's registration will definitaley be a hassle and will take a time close to 3-4 months... what is on the odo?? how much have you run it??

they might and they might not... but outside evry rto you can meet a bunch of brokers who can do the job for you for a fees.... but the thing is when you are transferring your bike'e registration across two states the procedure takes place in two stages:Originally posted by dude_phenom View PostJust curious guys. 1. in the current state: you need to get the N.O.C (takes around3-4 days)
2. in the future state: the rto people will take all the paper of your bikes and send it to your past state for verification and those papers will kept in that rto for around 90 days which is a procedure. the present in the rto will start only after your papers are returned from the previous rto stating that bike has not been stolen or involved in the accident.
3. plus you will have to deposit the tax once more....
the whole process is very tiresome and sometime these guys just lose the papers which again becomes agitating as you wont be able to use your bike in this duration...Timon: Orange Yamaha FZ16 2009

Since your bike is very new, downshift problems are normal man..!! The gear lever becomes smooth with use. I faced the same problem initially.Originally posted by Nandyfz View Postyes tick tick sound is there, that is because the engine will be cooling.
But i dint get the logic behind the burning smell
.
I am also facing downshift problems..
Dont know whether these are common probs with new bike.
Always assume the other guy will mess up - Ride Defensively!
