Friends i'm facing some serious issue with my FZ since last 2 days,
My FZ seems to be out of breath & gives hiccups everytime i go above 7-8 k RPM in any gear. If I ride sanely (changing gears at 4k-5k) it shows no signs of any problem but even after that if I cross 6-7k rpm in 5th gear i.e above 70 kmph it starts to hiccup again as if i'm out of fuel (I'v tried riding in both reserve/on mode though i have more then 3 L of fuel in tank & 2 Bars intact on fuel meter)
So I cannot cross 70 kmph in any case & if I have to slow down from medium speeds & come down 3-4 gears, (Say from 60 kmph to 20 kmph immidiately in about 5 seconds) I change back to 2nd gear & when I try to throttle again, bike gives a big hiccup & engine stops. Though I have no issues starting it again.
I had similar issue earlier when my bike was new but I visited SVC & they found water on my spark plug so issue solved, hence tried clearing spark plug of any water this time too but no use. Have also learned from internet that bike runs out of breath if the small hole for air in tank opening is blocked & rechecked it but all fine.
I'm not gonna get any time to visit SVC before mid next week so if any suggestions/solutions from you guys, it will be tried & appreciated.
PS: This issue started only after I thoroughly washed my bike 2 days ago so I still have a hunch that problem amy be related to water, just i could'nt find it.

Im not expert but MAYBE theres water in your tank? I've had this problem with water in my tank with my Karizma-R and my bike would hiccup after 60. But this is just a theory of mine......PHP Code:
--Honda Shine [08-10 SOLD]--
---HH Karizma-R Black [10-Current]---

I'm so pissed at the probiking SVC in Malad, Bombay! Its been almost 1.5 weeks after my first service and I realised that my engine was knocking between 3K-4K rpm in every gear and the vibes felt a bit high too. I posted about the vibes around 60 and apparently it was normal. But the engine knocking worried me so I finally took the decision to take it to the SVC. I then showed it to a different mechanic (the one who didn't do my first service) and explained the problem to him and asked him to take a test ride. He came back and said that someone put full synth oil in my first service!!!Originally posted by RanjithMN View Poster...they did change the engine oil right?
the YAMALUBE uve mentioned is the engine oil.
which is why its 415!!! the oil that should have gone in should have bene the normal one costing 220.

I was like how can he make a mistake like this and he said tha tsome peopel insist on full synth and I told him that I never mentioned anything like it ..
He also said that this bike has been raced a lot ... Although I have been very disciplined to up shift at max 4.5K .. I didn't realise that quickly accelerating to 4.5K is also "racing" the bike and is damaging to it in therun in period
He said I should not cross 50kmph but the manual told me that I could go up to 4.5K which is around 60kmph in the 5th gear which was my usual speed as I ride on highway
I'm picking up the bike today after the oil cahnge .. but now am worried with the oil mess up during first service and my "racing" ridign style .. I might have damaged the engine (knocking/vibs) too much

I didn't expect a pro biking centre to end up putting the wrong engine oil on first service especially when he knows its only dont 589kms so far
Always assume the other guy will mess up - Ride Defensively!

@rkakkar
Hard luck mate....
But can you clear few things?
First off all...FULLY synth YAMALUBE costs around 700-800RS....the one for 400RS should be the SEMI Synth.
How many Km's did you run with the semi synth?
and how many km's have you done on your ODO?
As long as you have stuck to your Manual's Run-In recommendation (ie not going above 4.5k) and not run much on the semi synth...dont worry your engine will be totally fine.Smoke rubber, not tobacco.

Ok then it must be Semi synth ... unfortunately semi synth and the 220 rs oil are both called Yamalube :P .. so when he wrote on the bill Yamalube - Rs. 415 I didn't realise it was semi synth or else I would have brought it up there itself ..Originally posted by RanjithMN View Post@rkakkar

with the semi synth I must have run around almost 100 kms
My first service was at around 480-490 kms and when I deposited the bike yesterday it was around 589kms on the ODO.Always assume the other guy will mess up - Ride Defensively!

ok so only a 100 odd km's on the semi synth...thts no problem...its not going to spoil your engine in anyway.
and btw once you cross 500kms you can rev the bike up to 6k RPMSmoke rubber, not tobacco.

Dude you might have that problem if youve tuned your carb for fuel efficiency you might wanna let in more fuel.... ive noticed that for me when i reach 105kmph and slow down and then accelerate again theres a small empty feeling but its just that fuel is optimised so small quantities flow in...Originally posted by mitz View PostFriends i'm facing some serious issue with my FZ since last 2 days,

also on the other hand it could be your air filter its like your lungs.. when you work hard you need to breathe more... SO make sure you dont keep/store any bags or books under your seat and if youve been in very dusty terrains clean the filter because when more power is required the airfilter needs more air so make sure there is no blockage....!!!WHo says you need a woman to feel what a ride is like???... get a bike instead!!! ***Honda Hornet**

They always had an issue with their fuel caps and you should never put the bike on center stand when it rains. But I felt the FZ fuel caps are much better. This shouldnt happen. And yous say only during 6k -7k rpm. I might think something might be blocking the air filter/intake coz when you rev more air is injected into the engine. Check the filter for dirt. But as I write this air filter getting dirty during monsoons is kind of unlikely. Give it a shot nonetheless.Originally posted by krUnIzZlE View PostIm not expert but MAYBE theres water in your tank? Actually my question is even if a SS or a FS oil is put why should the engine knock. I have put FS oil at 2.4k ODO reading which is very early even by x-bhp standards/guidance. I have had no problems. If anything I've felt the bike going more fast and more smoother. And tell your SVC guy that 4.5k is not considered "racing". This is Yamaha for god's sake. They are good for the "racing" only....Originally posted by rkakkar View PostI'm so pissed at the probiking SVC in Malad, Bombay! If possible I'd suggest you to give the spark plug a check and see whats the colour of the deposit on it.
And dont worry about messing the engine. Its a Yamaha perfect square engine. These things are virtually bullet proof. I personally feel this is the true successor for the RX100. My opinion guys. Dont yell at me...Everyone falls down, doesn't matter...

Guys, today I went to a shop regarding Bosch Horns. The dealer said that I must connect the horn using a relay because if I connect it directly to stock fitted horn then I will drain the battery soon
. So to avoid draining of battery relay is must. He said no need to connect fuse because FZ has company fitted fuse. the horn comes with 6 months warranty priced at Rs. 670 (Printed MRP. 699) ,Relay cost Rs. 70 (Minda Co.), Wires with clip cost Rs. 30 and fitting charge Rs. 80. So can I change my stock fitted horn to Bosch
?? What are your opinion
? Bike has completed only 450KM on ODO
so First Free Service is pending.

I have a FZS october 2009 model and i have the same problem my bike dosent go beyond 76 and also the fuel efficiency is low i mean im ok with the fuel efficiency but atleast performance is expected its so embarising wen a splendor overtakes the FZ
i use motul oil done just 300 km with it i lube the chain every 2 weeks i have doubts on the spark plug cos the bike some time back just stopped suddenly 3 times , i havent checked the airfilter as wellAs I gaze upon your beauty, I think to myself, "never have I seen an angel fly so low".
