It never was right from the beginning and they could not fix it for the first 5 service , hopefully it get done in the next service. Is this common

They say tat most of the bikes hav same issue... and dey cant do anything abt it... YAMAHA...how come such a major defect in all yr bikes... I guess analog meters wer better...

First of all congrats for becoming a proud owner of this bike. And yes! you must avail the 1st free service before 14th oct. And if your bike has less than 500KM on the ODO then change the oil and oil filter after 1000KM. Don't change it in the free service. Yamalube 20W-40 oil is recommended.

        • FZ 1st service

          Hey all,

sorry its been a while since i 've posted anything about my bike. Here it goes

          THE STORY SO FAR:

Reached 900 km in 2 weeks (Got me bike on 17th Sept)...Will be hitting 1000km probably by end of today.. will be taking my bike for its 1st servicing on monday (4th Oct '10).

The bike feels super smooth. The engine purrs to life at the push of the button, one click. However, the no. of false gears while shifting down has increased... probably being close to the 1st service mark. The tyres still lose 1 - 2 PSI every 3rd -4th day so constantly need to keep a tab on it. Although i am not complaining about it (Free mein fuel stations pe air check hota hain!! ). I guess this is a known problem with all FZs.

When i bought the bike, the headlight beam was not aligned properly as deeper beam was lighting at the high beam level and the high beam was lighting up the sky!! anyways will get it fixed in the 1st service.

Economy: 36 - 38 kmpl. Probably coz of the initial setting. Will keep the furl :air mixture to medium level not too lean.

          ADVICE??

Anything i need to lookout for?? Don't want the SVC guys to screw up my beloved FZ. My fellow Mumbai XBHPIANS.. please do share your experience with the svc guys from Sun Mill Compound, Lower Parel.

Well it definitely looks fake. I'm guessing the bike is transported on an open roofed vehicle on its center stand and the bike is reved on 5th gear.

Things that convinced me it was fake.

                    1. Absolutely no vibrations or shaking. No indian road would result in that.
                    2. Phenomenal acceleration. Donno if there are any performance kits put in, but in any case that acceleration is too high to believe.
                    3. And this is what clinched it. In the top right hand corner u can see other vehicles. Even at 130+kmph I see 800s ahead of the bike. From personal experience I can tell you even though 800s can touch 130 no one can stay at speed for a long time coz the steering wheel will vibe your bones out of u.
                    Everyone falls down, doesn't matter...
But its how fast you get up, that matters.....

                    • 1st accident

                      Hi guys,

I am a proud owner of FZ16. After a long thought process i went for it which happens to be my first bike. I am loving this bike from day 1 .

But unfortunately, its been just 5 weeks and I have met with an accident. The stupid workers had dug up the road near Leela Palace Bangalore and had spread the concrete particles on the road. Last night my bike skid there, however as my speed was around 30, i am safe. But the bike took some beating Since we fell on to our right, the leg-guard on right side has bent, the handle bars seems to be bent too also there are scratches on the right part of headlight and near the meter (well, i dont know what that is called :P).

So, if any of u fellow xBHPians could guide me as to what should i do now. Should i go to the svc centre and claim insurance or should i pay for it by myself. As i mentioned, this is my first bike, hence ownership experience is not much :P
Any help is appreciated. There is also one more thing. After 1st service i had noticed vibrations in all the gears after 4.5k rpm which were totally absent before the servicing was done. If anyone of u could help me regarding that too.

Thanks xBHP and all u fellow members. This community rocks!

dude this video was uploaded by some Argentinian guy so
1:no Indian type road condition there .
                        2:don't knnow about any performance kit might have got 1;
3:they can't be 800s and also note its odo/trip we can calculate the velocity from the Odo change with time
                        though i haven't calculated u can give a shot!

see you can get the handle bar changed for 130 rs, the leg guard's bend can be removed to a certain extent by people who work with iron as per the scratches on the headlight and console "meter" are concerned they wont give you any problem.... but still if you want to change them i don think insurance guy will be willing to pay for your full damage. as per claiming insurance is concerned if you dont claim insurance for your bike in an year you get a no claim bonus next year which is equivalent to 20% of the base cost of insurance.... i just got my bike reinsured for the second year and the no claim bonus amounted to 500 rs....

                          • @kinshuk.arya - Thanks dude for replying. Today the svc centre is closed because of sunday, so will be taking the bike tomorrow for repairs.

And about the vibrations in all gears after 4.5k rpm speed. This problem started after the first servicing. So will be taking up this matter as well with the svc centre guys. Hope it all comes out well

thats an interesting observation!but dude, its pretty clear from the vid that the bike is not elevated on anything!

i dont see any 800's...those are just some hatchbacks which can easily do 130's!
Im not surprised actually...fully geared with a small backpack i have done 127kmph...and tht was on an Indian Road with not shakes or vibes
many fiends have reported to do 130+ on FZ's..so again im not surprised...diff. tuning/setup/service maybe?
