My theory is , since i didn't mess with the actual output but just the powerband of delivery , the mileage shouldn't suffer ...

To tighten chain slack .

Things you'll need
1. A size 17 and 19 ring spanner
2. A smaller size 10 spanner (in toolkit)
3. An inch tape

First , loosen the axle bolt in such a way that the nut on the RHS becomes loose but does not come off .

then check for the chain slack , typically about an inch of play on the chain ... anything more or less and it needs adjustment .

there are two nuts that adjust the chain slack , on the LHS , you gotta loosen the two on the RHS also .

loosen them or tighten them as per your requirement and check for the chain slack again , once your happy with it , re-tighten all the bolts and nuts and your done .

before you tighten check for the rear wheel alignment , should be same on both sides ...

So I wanted to know whether I am lubing it properly or not..I'll attach images showing where I lube it..BTW I used ur images nand

Hi,

I just booked Fazer first my option was FZ16 but later based on Fazer Appearance I convinced to have it.

What's your take ? Some are claiming it wont be able to deliver performance like what FZ16 does as Fazer has some extra chassis mounted which will ruin it

ok now If i understood correctly , you're talking about the rim getting sticky after you lube the chain ??? If yes , then what I do is , lube the chain , then just clean the rim with kerosene and then wash it down ...

regarding lubing the chain , I think your doing it alright . i do spray on the sprocket side only , just make sure its uniform and no excess deposit .

alternative to this is to stick a newspaper behind the wheel ... just tape it to the tail panel and let it cover the rim ... and then spray away ... no problem

Congratulations for your promotion to Fazer....

Performance of both the bikes is the same infact fazer's top speed should be more than the FZ by at least 2-3kmph because of the fairing and reduced effect of wind....
apart from the front fairing and the handle bar both the bikes are technically same...

P.S: Always wear a helmet and shoes at the minimum and preferably a riding jacket and gloves also...

there is a little chance for more top speed in fazer bcoz it has the weight disadvantage.While you have to creep behind the screen in both the bikes to attain speed.And to the fact how many times will you speed above 100??In city riding Fz is the king bcoz of less weight factor and flickability while fazer is bulky in weight.
I know fazer looks much cool than Fz,It is good in highway due to fairing but in city riding Fz rules..

It does have slightly better top speed on the contrary ... because of that very fairing ... But you just emphasized quite clearly what Yamaha are going for , FZ16 as a city ride and the Fazer for touring ...

The windblast on the FZ16 on the highway at 100+ is downright annoying .

i went for an increase of 2-3 kmph only because of the weight of the fairing (6kg approx) if fz and fazer had same weights then the difference would have been of more than 5kmph...

buddy u r right but what I am telling is=HOW MANY TIMES WILL ONE GO FOR 100+???a rider rides 90% of his riding in city condition so he might want to ride a light bike which is flickable in traffic with agility.Frankly speaking biking is not just about how much 1 can go fast but to enjoy the thrill,pleasure by going smooth & enjoying moving from 1 place to another.Does every body wants to ride fast just to break records or go wrong while speeding & curse for all the life not to be able to stand in his own feet.
A person should ride and gift himself a ride that is his own identity to enjoy the ride.thts it.
And speaking of FZ & FAZER-technically speaking a FZ can outrun the Fazer in acount of speed but it will not be as pleasure in wind blast which the Fazer reduces by its screen.But when this wind is not hitting u then only you will learn that how slow 1 is moving in fazer.SPEED is not everything,1 should learn to respect his ride & care him/her like his own child.Than only biking can be a pleasure.A RELIGION IN INDIA..

^^ bro chill out man , I think your over-reacting . we were just discussing the aerodynamic advantage the Fazer has over the FZ16 .

On the weight factor , the FZ16 has about 135kg kerb weight , and the Fazer is 141Kg , like kinshuk pointed out , difference of 6kgs , which would not make the bike all that much slower ... I've ridden the P220-S which weighs in at 152kg's and it doesn't feel any less flickable in traffic . once you sit on it weight ceases to be a factor , It's just you and your balance .

You know what , I Ride about 90% on the highway and 10% in the city ... which is why i am looking for better top end and cruise-ability as you may know ... so it's different strokes for different folks .

We are part of this amazing community because we do share the same passion , we are many times laughed at or ridiculed for it , but yet we stay true to it . that is what defines us as bikers ... Not here to break records or set records or anything of the sort .

Bro calm down...I know the Fz is better in the cities..I for one have faced a lot of trouble with the Fazer's mirrors-they stick out a lot and it's tough to squeeze through gaps and such...nobody's denying tht the fz is better in the cities..But we were discussing top end and it's obvious tht the Fazer would hv a bit more of a top-whack.BTW discussing top-whack is not talking about rash-riding..hope u realise tht..
