      130 is for 130mm
70 is for 70% aspect ratio i.e., 70%(thickness measured from rim)of the width
R17 stands for 17" wheel rim diameter..

Fz stock tyre is 140/60 R17..
So the total width of the tyre will be bigger than the above 130one...
more the power the engine will have to give to turn the lower diameter wheels so shorter..
But if you put 140/70R17 the it will have a slightly bigger overall dia of the wheel so taller gearing...so not very much but more mileage..
So instead of slightly lowering the mileage..why not slightly increase it..
How about increase in mileage due to the reduced width of the tyre? Lesser contact surface. Will that compensate for the loss in torque?
      Everyone falls down, doesn't matter...
But its how fast you get up, that matters.....

May be Yamaha didnt expect its SVC guys to scratch it so soon

Ok. Back to a serious note. I'm noticing several people facing spare parts shortage everywhere (one area I might understand but everywhere!!!)

Can this be because they didnt plan on stocking inventory?? How about a lot of us shoot complaints on their website. They do actually respond. I had asked them about replacing the 5Ah Battery with a 7Ah and they responded in 2 days.
That's not bad is it? Though the answer was like "We'll screw you if you mess with default config of the bike".

But 10-15 complaints and they should/would wake up....

Latest Update: Just shot them a complaint. Guys please do the same at:

Hi buddy......as you said the 130mm is the tyre width and the 70% is the aspect ratio....so that comes to 91 and that for the 140/60 comes around 84....
so does that mean its a 91 diameter tyre or did i horribly screw the calculations????
That should make the 130/70 tyre taller geared....rite????
              cheers....

Thats right , even mine wore off at ~13,400 Kms.

There was this sound which started coming from the front tyre's as if two metal plates were brushing. It wasn't too loud, but there.

I went to Excellent Yamaha (Andheri) and the brake pads were out of stock.
Went to Malad (Yamaha Factory Shop) and got the pads for 130 Rs, but the SVC guy said it wont be replaced on the same day as there were too many bikes to be serviced. The next day was Janmashtmi so the SVC will be closed. So I bought the pads and got them fitted at a local mechanic.

This was my first visit to Malad SVC and boy I lost my mind over there. I saw VMax , R1 black and blue (simply loved the black one) , MTxxx, and some concept bikes i think.

And what made the bill go to 1k or 2.5k Please tell me it was a paid Service. Even then I cant imagine it being so high. 2.5k is car territory...
well the bill went upto 1.1k on a paid service for SVC at CRPF camp vikaspuri...closer to my place........the one at rajori garden made sure that even on free service it was 2.5 k for wheel balancing as i told them of bike wobbling and some problems while cornering......this time the rear alloy got a minor bend which is fixed now but the rear tyre is in bad shape and even SVC guy told me for an upgrade.....he advised a 120/17 as the best for my fzs but i dunno what to do as i need to get a new one however i am pretty much confused what upgarde i go for my rear tyre...... stock MRF are not worth going for......10k and they are pretty bad in shape.......sorry for late reply as took off from office today......
comparing both SVC personally the one at rajori garden m/s delhi scooters was a pain to deal with and get bike serviced while m/s gm yamha near crpf camp is some one who ensures that after sales experience is better and reasonable....dunno for how long though but the initial job done is excellent..........

Nope. I havent gotten a response for the spare parts complaint. The email was for query of upgrading from 5Ah battery to 7Ah battery. They replied for that saying I could enquire the SVC about its feasibility but any change in the config of the bike voids warranty.

Man 2.5k wheel balancing is definitely a rip-off. I was charged 100Rs for the same.

10k is for rims + tyre???

Oh man 1.3k is a lot of money. I doubt if i'll be spending that much on Petrol itself in 70 days.
