Might be air trapped in line. Brake works same as before after bleeding if everything is fine.

Not sure how does the air go inside even after the brakes were bled properly. The bite is lost after certain period and not within some day's.
The real beauty lies in throttle's twist!!

Headlight can be replaced, Head cannot be. Wear a helmet.

Air can get in through the nipple by the time you tighten it or via the reservoir when level is low when pumping in. Sometimes, you have to bleed more than once to get through.

Maybe the brake line is the culprit.

The stock brake line is good and there is no need to swap unless it is damaged.

If the brake loses bite after few weeks of cleaning the pads then the dust between the pads and disc is the reason for spongy brake feel.

          Otherwise-
Just replace the master cylinder kit, piston's seal might be loosing pressure. Costs just 120/-
Use DOT 4 fluid and new brake pads. The bite will be like new.

I did this as a DIY on my friend's '09 FZ, you can take help of a mechanic.

Brake fluid was never replaced and had sludge. Disassembled and cleaned everything.

Caliper seals were soft and pliable so I reused them.( The the retailer did not have them in stock (costs ~ 180)).

The bite is there for initial weeks, but looses as time passes. Even after cleaning thr brake pads, it is of no use.

I have already replaced the master cylinder kit because the front brake use to get jammed all by itself. DOT 4 brake fluid has been used, when the brakes were bled.

I think it's a common problem. Even I'm facing this issue since 2-3k kms. 24,500 on odo and the front brake isn't good enough anymore. Brake pads were changed 500 kms ago, fluid bled properly, yet the braking isn't as sharp as it was.

For few weeks the rear shock was making weird kirk kirk noise. Mechanic told me the shock absorber has to be reconditioned but unfortunately the nut at the bottom of the shock absorber got jammed he tried to remove it by loosen with lubes and diesel even heating the bolt but was not able to remove it. He tells to cut the bolt and replace a new after the reconditioning. He's charging me 1000 for reconditioning ,300 for but n bolt an 200 for labour. But now the shocks sound is different like buss buss but faint than before.Should I go for the reconditioning or replace the whole shock absorber or leave them be.

Replace the shocker from yamaha service center . Reconditioning doesn't last six months .

In terms of shock absorber its best to get a new one replaced.

                      Hi
In terms of brake pads, yes it did lose its bite on my bike after a fair 35k on the odo, but the mech at yamaha suggested to change the disc itself which costed me around 1.1k.. if bleed and change of reservoir with pads didnt work you can always change the disc because AFAIK even that starts wearing out with time. Yes the disc grips better and brakes as good as new. Hope you decide well and ride safe

                          • Clutch bell issues - FZ 16

                            Hi Friends
I am from chennai , My FZ 16 has crossed 7700 kms and completed four free services.
After 4th service iam experiencing mild vibrations while i cross 55 km/hr.
SVC guys checked the bike and they told they have to do clutch bell reconditioning abd it will cost 600 Rs.
My local mechanic asked for 2000 Rs for the same issue.

My question is how severe is this clutch bell problem? Can this be covered under warranty? I bought my bike on last week of july 2014.
Is clutch bell shaking is the real reason for the vibration? Please clarify guys..

I have a bad history with SVC guys and i dont trust them, Our xbhp friends helped me out when i had some issues with my fork alignment

                              Hi Balaji.s
If the bike is under warranty then all items which carry manufacturing defect is liable to replacement.
This clearly seems like that from my observation.
Please tell them that this didn't have to do at all with racing or any other terms which can void warranty and ask them to replace them.
Better still drop a short mail about the issue to Yamaha India and they will surely look into it.

                              • Fazer piston change and post experience.

So this is what happened. I bought a second hand fazer 2009 model with 32k km running. On the second day i speeded it to 110kmph and the bike's engine seized and i was stuck on highway. I took it to the closet local mechanic and he checked and saw that there was no mobile oil at all. The bike refused to start so i took it to another mechanic in meerut city (in sooti ganj which is a bike repairing market). The mechanic first changed the valves and then the piston. It cost me 2000rs. But the parts were not original. Now i drove it 60km at max 40-45kmph with 1 person only. And i felt the bike was heating and i suspected engine oil loss. Got it checked and found it very low. 500ml oil was refilled. Now the bike emits whitish smoke. I suppose the engine oil is burning. Even after piston replacement. I am very confused what to do. Please help. Also recommend me any good mechanic if u know in and around Muzaffarnagar, meerut or Ghaziabad. Thanks in advance.
