What is your definition of engine heating up too soon? as in does the engine stall completely after a certain kms of riding and refuses to start? Motul SS & FS oil by default allows your ride's engine to heat up faster to its optimum operating temperature and because of its contents, the engine gets better lubrication hence, better performance, butter smooth shifts and like you said higher top end.
if the engine is over heating, the only plausible reason that i can think of is the carburetor of your ride has been set to lean.. i.e. in local mechanic's words tuned for more mileage.. The AFR ratio i.e. air to fuel ratio going in your engine's combustion chamber has been set to allow lesser fuel to go in... as a result the bike does more kms per ltr but is getting devoid of the fuel it needs to run optimally..which in the long run does more damage to your ride then one can think of. Check the condition of the spark plug which will provide you the tell tale signs of the health of your engine.. if it is too white between the electrodes then you know who is the culprit for this all mess.

I have been having this niggling issue since the purchase. After riding for a few 100kms,the front end of the bike (along with the fairing, but actually the handlebar only) starts vibrating. The SVC person tightens the area with the rubber washer in between,it gets fixed. Then,a few weeks of happy vibe-free riding, then again the same story. The SVC said let the ride settle a bit. Really? Almost 4 months and 2000kms...
Recently,I met an owner of a 3 yr old FZ...he also said it happens to his ride since purchase.Any solutions or desi jugaad?

i got same problem. i loosened off the forks, tightened up the neck bearing, and after dropping the front end about 5mm tightened the fork clamps.Originally posted by SpeedyKol View PostI have been having this niggling issue since the purchase. After riding for a few 100kms,the front end of the bike (along with the fairing, but actually the handlebar only) starts vibrating. The SVC person tightens the area with the rubber washer in between,it gets fixed. Then,a few weeks of happy vibe-free riding, then again the same story. i still get the same "clunk" movement. i'm looking at getting replacement bearings.. This shouldn't happen on a "new bike" (under 1500kms old!!)2013 Ducati M795 with a few mods in here http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/superbik...95-owners.html

The oil is also a internal coolant. It helps cool the engine from the inside, also it's main function is to reduce friction which generates heat, hense we can get oil cooler, thermostatic valves etc.Originally posted by shv18 View PostWhat is your definition of engine heating up too soon? as in does the engine stall completely after a certain kms of riding and refuses to start? Cheers,
As for the engine overheating the above is very true. Lean = hot. Too lean = melted piston/s, burnt valves. (also makes most power for a split seconds before exploding the engine
)
This is why "we" don't play with carb settings (unless you have correct instrumentation and know what we are doing) Its not simply a case of turning the mixture screw left or right, there is a reason why it is in a certain position.
For the sake of a couple extra miles you may be loosing $ on engine replacement + rebuilds.
Is that money saved worth it?

I had some problem with the tuning of my engine since delivery.Even during the 2nd service, only the incompetent SVC person asked me,"How much have u travelled right before coming to SVC? Why is the engine so hot?Do you press clutch and ride?" I said,"Max 5 kms." Well,he didn't care to see why is it so hot after that, coz he thought I keep pressing clutch (he's least bothered). Now,I take it to my local mech,he checks it out and says that the whole AFR was wrong,he fixed it.Now engine stays quite cooler.

Hi guys,
I am getting very low mileage from my FZ-S. It used to hover around 43-50 but now i am getting 35-38kpl :-(
I have not changed my riding style.
I cleaned and lubed chain after getting 35kpl and it returned 38kpl this time ;-( whats the reason of getting low mileage?
My bike is 8 months and 2500 kms old. 3rd servicing was done at 1600kms. I took my bike for a 460km trip (in 2 days) after servicing and it returned 46kpl.
I keep tyre pressure at recommended 29 and 33psi. And i never screwed with carb settings.
PS: i am using motul 3000 4t plus motor oil
Sent from my LG-P500 using TapatalkThere is no destination, I just want to keep riding.

Can anyone help me with this issue? It's really a problem as it happens very often.Originally posted by SpeedyKol View PostI have been having this niggling issue since the purchase. After riding for a few 100kms,the front end of the bike (along with the fairing, but actually the handlebar only) starts vibrating. The SVC person tightens the area with the rubber washer in between,it gets fixed. Then,a few weeks of happy vibe-free riding, then again the same story. Thanks Tariq bhai, will go for 10W40Originally posted by muztariq View Post5w30?? Use motul 300v 10w40 or shell advance 10w40.. It will suffice all your requirements. W30 grades is not allowed on this bike.
Get a kick starter too.. Thats all i can suggest.
Thanks shv18. will check on tyresOriginally posted by shv18 View PostLet me shout it out loud.. DONOT GO WITH STOCK TIRES TO LEH... Soft compound tires are not meant for such terrain. You also have to calculate the fact that if for any reason you go through a major tire crack because of unforgiving terrain.. there is no help for hundreds of kms both ways. Spend that 3k for the rear tire atleast and have a piece of mind. I remember one the xbhp members from Kathmandu had posted a picture of his Fazer's rear having a huge hole in it thanks to the rear tire getting chiseled by a sharp rock.
Cheers
Thanks for correcting me mateOriginally posted by deville_56 View PostSpeedo had 2 year warranty.
AFAIK all FZ's have this problem , and we simply have to live with it.Originally posted by SpeedyKol View PostI have been having this niggling issue since the purchase. After riding for a few 100kms,the front end of the bike (along with the fairing, but actually the handlebar only) starts vibrating. The SVC person tightens the area with the rubber washer in between,it gets fixed. Then,a few weeks of happy vibe-free riding, then again the same story. We can get it corrected at any roadside mechanicOriginally posted by SpeedyKol View PostSo everytime it loosens up,a quick dash to SVC is required?
