Hope you have followed the usual service to the T with oil change, oil filter change and the regular greasing and oiling of the bike, bike chain, engine oil top up (if needed) etc. Do a tank full and tire pressure check when the tires are cold.. front 28 rear 33 psi and then you are good to go. As far as my experience with my FZ-X is concerned... she has never given me any kind of trouble whatsover for over 300 kms long distance rides!! engine has always been working under optimum temperature, never over heating or stalling.

A heads up though.. donot red line your ride for long distances... it stresses the engine unnecessarily and some users have experienced engine oil getting consumed lightning fast.. Keep her under 8000 rpm and in between give her a bootful for say a minute or two and you should be doing good.

So i am sure you will have a ball. Just make sure to take butt breaks post 100 kms. That should help you build up endurance for longer rides. Carry plenty of water and re-hydrate yourself whenever taking breaks.

      All the best.

seems, either the fuel gauge sensor inside the tank or your speedo console has gone kaput!! i doubt it can be repaired.. you will probably have to go for a replacement..

I went to a trip 252km far from my place and return (not the first time). On the way 252km, got usual mileage of about 42 which used half the tank 6 li. On return same distance 252km, but got 25 and used almost empty the tank (left 2 li)!!! I usually use the same gasoline station on both sides, so I know exactly how many liter I filled at what km.
Beside the mileage drop, the bike also delayed picking up the speed after 70km. I got the speed of 102-105 easily and 114 at top on the way but upon return, hardly get 100. Almost always 90-92. After 70-75, very slow to pick up speed again to get to 90. When 90, reduce the speed due to the traffic, and speed up again, the bike noticeably slow down and start to pick up the speed a few seconds later. If I am not wrong delay of 2-3 seconds which never happened before.
Before that, I did the 5th servicing at Yamaha centre at 8772 km. checked spark plug and clean, Cleaned oil filter, checked breaks, adjust the chain and lubricate, clean air filter, changed engine oil (20W50), etc. (I usually change oil every 1000km). And the service guy did not touch or tune the cub:.
I read some things from here regarding the mileage drop, so I checked again just now the spark plug, engine oil level drop due to oil filter cleaned. Beside the spark plug was a bit dark, the level of oil is fine. This is the first time happen. I cannot figure out what went wrong to get 25km/li and pick up speed drop!!!
          Please help.
Any idea please? I don't care about the mileage that much of the difference between 35-40 or something. but 25 is way below....i did not even ride the bike since than and just waiting for any suggestion. my place is about 20km from the nearest service centre. please help....

            • Hi,

              Would request your guidance/help.

I would be leaving for Leh this June and would like to get the bike ready for it. I have planned for the following in the next service, i.e. next week:

              1. Change clutch plates (is it also necessary to change clutch wire?)
              2. Change the Air filter(replacing it second time, as its about 24K now)
              3. Check the front and rear break pads and replace them if needed.
              4. Change the engine oil to Motul 300v 5W30
              5. Change the battery(need help to know which is the best replacement)

I've recently changed the front fork oil and will be replacing the fuel tank also.

Intend to go with stock tyre itself.
Thinking of going for slime in tyres, would be of great help if anyone from J&K, who might be using it, would tell how it performs in cold climate.

5w30?? Use motul 300v 10w40 or shell advance 10w40.. It will suffice all your requirements. W30 grades is not allowed on this bike.
Get a kick starter too.. Thats all i can suggest.

Let me shout it out loud.. DONOT GO WITH STOCK TIRES TO LEH... Soft compound tires are not meant for such terrain. You also have to calculate the fact that if for any reason you go through a major tire crack because of unforgiving terrain.. there is no help for hundreds of kms both ways. Spend that 3k for the rear tire atleast and have a piece of mind. I remember one the xbhp members from Kathmandu had posted a picture of his Fazer's rear having a huge hole in it thanks to the rear tire getting chiseled by a sharp rock.

It is the issue with the electronics of the bike. My bike sometimes shows 2 bars and suddenly starts blinking . When i told the Service Guy, he said there is electronic fault and will rectify it on my service. Hopefully, what he says should suffice my problem.

                        • I heard the great bassy note of Joel's FFE on a Pulsar 220 and immediately fell in love with it.So I was thinking of installing it on my Fazer. What is the price and the delivery period?
@Shv18: Are u still using the FFE?
Is installing the DBKiller a must for FFE?
The CatCon (or whatever it is called, see attached image of the same pic posted by another xBhpian) is taken off if Joel's exhaust is fitted?
Will the center stand be removed for FFE?
Can I paint the FFE matt black before installation? or will the paint chip off later due to heating?
Can I take out the DBKiller anytime I want? (I'm a noob at this actually)

Will there be an increase in mileage too?
Just read about some users complaining that the brake pedal and the center stand keeps hitting the FFE. True?
Is there a difference in pollution tests too?
