I'm riding a 2009 Yamaha FZ-S which is bought in second hand. Its odo is 18000 kms. The engine is good and I ran 2000 kms.

But while changing gears and accelerating I'm getting beating sound. I need a refined sound like the one coming from Honda (Unicorn/Shine).
Will it be possible in FZ's??

The performance is getting reduced when riding with a pillion rider. The change is noticable. Is it common in all FZ's??
My tyre pressure is 30psi front and 35psi rear. Stock tyres (rear is new one).

Also please let me know how long can I ride the bike legally without name change (RC, Insurance).

    Thanks in advance

Same here. Do they provide only the filter at all? I too had to buy the whole tap.

This is an issue I am facing from last 1.5 Yrs. Phat-Phat sound from exhaust when I deaccelerate in lower gears and during engine warm up. Till date SVC guys are not able to identify the root cause and always blame the fuel . Whereas I always fill from COCO pump in Mumbai.

Let me know if that sound stops after AIS replacement, very keen to know about it.

my mech opened the unit and fixed the screw inside it(just a push scew which locks inside the socket),the phut phut sound is gone but yes he has damaged the unit and fixed it using
some solution ,now facing some wiered sound from the unit but not from the exhaust, hence though of replacing the unit.will update you by saturday evening with picture.

The backfiring might be caused due to improper combustion of fuel... Ask the mech to check up the tuning of your bike...

There will be minor variations in the size. Ask your mech to mock build the engine with modeling clay pushed into the piston valve reliefs to make sure the valves don't hit the piston.

Make sure the measurements are all within spec and the parts will play nicely.
This will ensure you won't get seized pistons, bent valves, scored blocks etc.
I am getting them replaced to stock from Yamaha factory shop here. So I do not suppose that would be an issue. That is the reason I am waiting for my cylinder to arrive

Yep this was the first thing that I thought and I used to regularly check the condition and color of the spark plug during initial period of this issue. Its completely normal. I can definitely say that its not because of improper combustion of fuel.
Haven't fiddled with the tuning even after 2.5+ Yrs of ownership yet. Actually I dont trust the Service center guys. They are famous to create more problems rather than solving the existing ones . So better to keep the stock settings.

I've installed it just once and never again. Does no good other than heating up ur engine.

                      • Need to Change FZ-S Colour

                        Hi All,

I have a 2009 FZ-s (Black+Yellow combo). I wanna change all the yellow coloured parts. (Some of my friends say, it's looking like a black yellow taxi ). So Is it possible ? I want the below information.

1- Cost of replacing yellow coloured body parts.
(petrol tank Middle cover strip , front wheel cover / mudguard , 2 side panels near petrol tank, 2 yamaha side stickers under seat area) ?

2- Which color will look better on black body which is not so shinning as of now ?

                        Waiting in Anticipation .....

did you use the correct heat range plug?
If it's too hot use a colder plug. (less electrode protruding)

Having 2 or even 4 earth straps only means that the spark has 4 places of least resistance hense its easier to make the spark jump the air gap. When one gap is worn/wider than the other the spark will automatically take that other path.
You won't notice much gain in power/mileage, Just longer plug life at the expense of your wallet.

                              1. all the panels which you have mentioned cost around 300rs each.
                              2. which colour will look better is your own personal opinion.... no one else can decide it for you.... its your bike not somebody else's......

Why don't you use good quality vinyl/sticker on the yellow parts? I had a small scratch on my previous ride and I used silver sticker to cover it up. It looked wonderful and unique too! There are a few advantages to it also:

                                • The whole stickering job would cost you max Rs.200 (I got mine for Rs.20,just the sides though!
                                • You can make any designs you want, they'll just use a blade to make the designs.
                                • You can change the colours whenever you get bored.
                                • Why go for stock colours from Yamaha? Make it unique!

Photoshop is ur friend...try out the various colours and show us the results.
