Please go back a few pages and check my post regarding alternative tires.

120mm Pulsar tires will affect your bikes handling drastically so not recommended.. judging that you ride on puncture prone roads, i suggest go for harder compound.

      Cheers

I am using the MRF Zapper VYDE 120/80/r17 from last 8 months and covered a distance of 4200 Kms approx. and not facing problems of punctures as the stock one. Only the height had increased a bit, it offers good grip on dry & wet roads but not that great on gravel as it is of softer compound as far as I know. you can try that, else there are several options now, then there were when I needed.

Zapper Vyde is a good soft compound tire.

              • Help me FZ owners

                Hey guys!
I'm in a bit of a fix here. I'm about to my buy my first bike and the budget is 70-80 grand so i believe FZ falls in this price bracket.

I just wanted to know about FZ's mileage because i've heard it's rarely above 30-35 kmpl (due to the rear tyre and high 'low end torque'), But i would like to confirm it from existing owners, so please guys, give your inputs(mileage figures with riding style).

                Will appreciate your help!
                Thanks!

Depends on how you ride and how you run it in. New ones get 40-45 assured with proper run in.

Yeah, i'm talking about bikes with proper run-in treatment.
Riding style, well the normal riding style which is relaxed city riding and occasional throttle twisting

If you are a mileage lover.. this bike should be at the last in your list.. it gives 40. Which is lowest of all the 150 cc segment bikes.
Buy it for its handling, style and decent power

I'm not exactly a mileage lover man but still the fuel prices are on fire you can not completely ignore it.

It's just that 30-35 kmpl was too low for a 150cc, i expected at least 40.

Yeah i know no one buys it for mileage, but what's the harm in asking

SO now i should replace 30-35 kmpl with 40 kmpl....hmm, not bad. Not bad at all. Maybe they have improved a little bit on the mileage front in the recent models.

after a couple min's of warming up, "get up her" (meaning get into it) give it 3/4 throttle, wind it out through the gears upto 5k rpm, then a few min's later 7k. Don't forget to allow it to decellerate through the gears, then accel back up. DONT SIT ON 1 SPEED!!!!! OR A CONSTANT RPM.
30mins into the ride (with continuous variation in speed, throttle position) stop and allow yourself to have a break and let your engine cool down.

Do this around 3 heat cycles.

After 100km's dump the oil, oilfilter and put fresh oil in (mineral if you want)

Since the bike is under warranty (assuming its new otherwise you wouldn't ask about running in procedures) go hard, if anything breaks it gets repaired under warranty

The otherway is to baby the engine, use buggerall throttle low rpm and chugg along
