  • Knocking with pillion!!

My bike is still in the run in period ... My gear shifts are as follows:

    at 20 - second
    at 30 - third
    at 40 - fourth
    max 50 - fourth

i don't cross 4.5K rpm.. keeping this in mind .. i've noticed the engine knock in every gear until 4K rpm and stop only after that .. so my question is that if its okay .. cause i anyway can't cross 4.5Krpm in any gear .. or do i let the engine rev at 4.5 in a lower gear rather than shifting it at the time when the traffic is slow moving?

Congrats on your new purchase. I'm sure you wont be disappointed.
Do and donts are available in this thread you can scan through them. But here's a summary.

Make sure to do a proper PDI before delivery. All docs are received and in place.
Make sure you never run dry, so I'd reco to put in atleast 5L petrol.
Read the Manual. All your info is avail there. (OH and make sure the Service Coupons have the correct delivery date put in, one member here had a bad experience)
First 500Km, do not cross 4.5k rpm (which is 60 in 5th) for a long time and 500-1k, do not cross 6k rpm for long time. Try to come as close to 1k km before first service. Occasionaly short bursts (like if you need to overtake) is fine.
Be extremely regular in servicing the bike.

Apart from nothing else. Enjoy biking.

Kinshuk dude. Which company makes the 35W H4 bulbs? I tried Phillips and Osram NBs. Both are 55/60W. Dont want to put my battery at risk (though I know lot of guys here have put in Osram NBs with no battery mods and running fine, I'm just a little cautious about batteries). Also our stock bulbs are H4 or H1?? (Just making 100% sure.)

The HIDs arent the same as the Osram NBs right?

Cut-out is something like a fuse to prevent current surges and overloads from damaging your battery. Like for ex: our stock batteries are 12V 5A. Which means a steady state power of 60W is expected (though in reality it'll be above 60W). Fitting a bulb of 55W/60W is going consume most of the battery power. In addition if you operate your horn or indicators (at the same time) those will consume extra power. So the total power consumed might exceed battery rating and could damage it. Hence a cut-out.

But since Kinshuk had said 35W (which is same rating as our stock bulbs) I dont think a cut-out is necessary.

philips makes hid bulbs.... but OEM bulbs cost a lot more than the chinese ones available in the market....
osram NBs is NOT an hid bulb but a normal halogen bulb with higher watteage and a slight white tinge in color.....

our stock bulb is a philips HS1 category the dimensions of which are equal to that of H4....

and for installing HID bulbs you will need to install the full kit which includes the ballast and an HID bulb...

you can directly put the NB it wont have an adverse effect on the battery,,,,

none of the pure blue or green color bulbs are legal whether it be hid or halogen.... color temperature above 4300K are illegal.... the yellow ones which is normal bulb is 3000k and the white ones are 4300k....

Mine is 35W bulb too.. My battery is dead long before installing the HID. I want to replace the battery, should I replace with 12v 5A or go for a 7A to compensate use of HID. is there any effect on charging or electricals if i use a powerful battery???

the 5A battery will do just fine.... dont know whether the stock electricals will be able to charge the 7A battery to optimum level...

Also I would like to add here that the SVC that I take my bike to is awesome here in Pune. In fact I picked up my bike 2 days ago after an accident and it drives like a brand new machine now.

Would also like to get info abt the horn. I was planning on putting in Fazer dual horns but SVC wont do it coz it needs some rewiring. they told me to get it done in Nanapeth but i dont want non SVC mechs to touch the electricals on the bike. Any suggestions about single horns that wont kick the battery's ass?
Hey which service center do you give your bike to in pune??
