    • Fz-s

Hi guys. I bought a FZ-S on 10th of April and was really happy with the bike. Initially it used to return a mileage of 46, but all of a sudden it dropped to 41. its clocked 845kms and 1st service not yet done.. I still ride under 4500rpm. Any idea what mite be the cause???
And also has anyone used the Daytona Kit?

I'm having the same issue. God knows why! I checked mileage before first service,it was 41kmpl.After two services,it has started reducing to 36kmpl.
I follow all the rules: Driving within 4.5k rpm, lubing chain, keeping tyre pressure intact.
How to check the front forks if they are faulty or not? My relative says it is faulty, while my trusted local mech says its not.
Is reserve to reserve the best way to check mileage?

          mileage again!
A fazer gives around 36-38 in city and 40-42 on the highway.. Just add two in each unit for fz's mileage.
So what you are getting is fairly normal. I have fazer and gets 40 you know why!? As a ride to my office is 10kms one side (on the highway) with NO red light and minimal traffic in between.. So even when i cruise at 80 my mileage never falls :-)
by keeping your rpms below 4.5 you may get good mileage and exceptional engine life but what you wont gain is what this bike is made for.. CORNERS!
There is a tvs bike which gives 80 km/l in city (believe me) but ppl using it say that the tyres are no wider than a bicycle tyre.

Regarding front forks, even i was trying to ask that an occasional thud (jerk) once in a day is normal or there is a problem with the suspension.. But abstained coz even if it is a problem then getting it rectified and testing and if it is still present going back to svc will consume much effort than living with this minor harmless issue.

          • Brake Handle Damaged

            Hi All,

Today I encountered a minor accident (FZ16, 45 days old, 800 KMs). Thank god, no injuries. But my bike's front brake handle is broken and also themuffler has got scratched pretty bad.

            1. How much will it cost to change the brake handle?
            2. How can I fix the scratches in the muffler? Should i get it painted or can i get the silver-grey part alone somewhere?

            Thanks in Advance.

Good to hear you are safe , the brake lever would cost you 85 INR and the Muffler cover is about 250 INR ...

Guys I have a small issue , someone stole my trip meter switch ( Can you believe it !!!!! ) , I have a cotton bud stick and cellotape doing a temp job for me , till I find the time to get a new switch , but I believe some water has gotten into the system, my speedo is throwing up a message on startup .

Seen at 0:02 sec in the video . Anybody has any idea as to what it means ?

              • hey bro dont worry, ride for some time once the speedo heats up a bit every thing will be fine.
this digital speedo is bound to have errors in fuel indication, one which you reported, backlight LED gone kaput, my speedo has already gone kaput with some backlight Leds cant see two digit numbers LOLz, and the only solution is to replace the speedo which i dont wanna do.

                  • @Muztariq : Thanks,won't be cribbing about mileage anymore.

@Rabpotter: Why don't u enquire about fitting the Apache's chrome/metallic brake and clutch handles on the FZ. Would surely look cool! Also tell us the price in the process.

                    • What could terribly go wrong to get 25 mileage???

My FZ16 is only 1 year and 3 months old and well maintained.
I went to a trip 252km far from my place and return (not the first time). On the way 252km, got usual mileage of about 42 which used half the tank 6 li. On return same distance 252km, but got 25 and used almost empty the tank (left 2 li)!!! I usually use the same gasoline station on both sides, so I know exactly how many liter I filled at what km.
Beside the mileage drop, the bike also delayed picking up the speed after 70km. I got the speed of 102-105 easily and 114 at top on the way but upon return, hardly get 100. Almost always 90-92. After 70-75, very slow to pick up speed again to get to 90. When 90, reduce the speed due to the traffic, and speed up again, the bike noticeably slow down and start to pick up the speed a few seconds later. If I am not wrong delay of 2-3 seconds which never happened before.
Before that, I did the 5th servicing at Yamaha centre at 8772 km. checked spark plug and clean, Cleaned oil filter, checked breaks, adjust the chain and lubricate, clean air filter, changed engine oil (20W50), etc. (I usually change oil every 1000km). And the service guy did not touch or tune the cub:.
I read some things from here regarding the mileage drop, so I checked again just now the spark plug, engine oil level drop due to oil filter cleaned. Beside the spark plug was a bit dark, the level of oil is fine. This is the first time happen. I cannot figure out what went wrong to get 25km/li and pick up speed drop!!!
                      Please help.

                        Hi bro,
You are not the only one whose rubber cover on the trip meter switch has been stolen: mine still has a tape instead of it! I understand that this rubber probably has a short lifetime, particularly if exposed to the sun and, since this is not a replaceable item (specially in Vietnam where you can have nothing!) ,"some" find it "intelligent" to purely and simply steal it from another bike! Never forget that, for the thief, the honest man is an imbecile!

This being said, I just do not see what is the "error" message on you video?????????

                          • Help needed guys.

The fuel indicator on my bike is stuck at 2 bars. Yesterday i ran out of petrol after being fooled by the faulty meter. Even after refilling with nearly 3lts of petrol, the meter shows 2 bars.

Has anyone else faced similar issue? What could be wrong, meter or fuel gauge?

My bike is 2.5 yrs old. Can it be repaired under warranty?

erm ... Well If you pause it at 0:02 , it shows something that looks like "AT" to me ... So I was wondering if it had any meaning . It's alright now though .
