chain rusting
I noticed my chain rusting off late..only on the sides though . anything to worry about?

its because its not lubricated well and in rain it tends to get rusted, apply some chain lub(motul chain lube) or take it to service centre and ask them to clean the chain and then lube, it may cost around 100rs , dont neglect it may spoil the chain durability..Originally posted by pali View Post

like ya all..m a passionate rider just like you guys///...
of late my fz isnt running as smooth as it used to be.//its 9000k now....bike giving 26
kmpl..i know thats quite bad...i unfortunately missed a service in between[went abroad]..
sop went for my 8th service 3 days ago..i got the clutch plates changed..told the svc guy to put yamalube semi synth...but he had only mineral
....have done 80kms after service..but engine is still not very smooth and m dissapointed with gear changes.....
may i have damaged the engine??missing a service in between??...at the service when he drained the old oil..it was just 200-250ml approx of it.....im a very harsh rider too...
what can i do to get my babe back running smooth???....
thinking of changing engine oil to motul semi or full synth...or petronas full synth...and the headlights too to halogen[whitish/bluish thing]....any suggesions on which oil to use next...and if anyone can plz temme any indian or videly available halogen lights!!...philips diamond and crystle vision?? will 55/60 be fine???Comment

^^ I am currently using Petronas full synth oil and the performance is good, and engine is as smooth as I would ever want it. I would recommend Petronas.. But... before you went abroad, had u used any oil other than yamalube mineral? If you hadn't (i.e. hadn't used anything other than mineral oil), the new harshness you are feeling is probably not due to the mineral oil refill. Regardless, you could still switch to full synth oil in any case coz the kms that you'v done are enough to graduate to those oil types. But do get that issue checked out.. I havn't found the engine to be harsh even when I was running on yamalube.

engine has been harsh since jan...suddenly after a service...bro i have been using yamalube mineral only...i guess ur right..petronas has been recommended by many...and its damn cheap too....335....ill just do 500 kms more on the current mineral and then get petronas full synth...
1 more thing..do i have to flush the engine as its upgrade of oil from mineral to fs??....i guess i do...?!!!
can anyone suggest any good light for fz16..saw philips diamond vision 5000k yesterday..is it really 900 bugs?!?!.....
going to get motul chain lube..will use kerosine or petrol to clean the chain....
have placed an order in delhi for iridium spark plug....should i expect better milaege?!?Comment

so got them changed...i have so say before this recent service the engines smoothness was at rock bottom,,i was getting 26kmpl...now its better..i think upgrading to the synthetics should do the trick....

I used to get some heating issues early on when the bike had done 2000 - 3000 kms.. but nothing since then, while on yamalube. I shifted to Petronas at 12000 kms and there were no issues - heating or otherwise.Originally posted by undercoverzafar View Post

No probs! Check config for headlamp in the manual. as far as possible, keep the rating of the new bulb close to the recommended one since any other rating would mess with the battery and result in premature drainage of charge.
