more problems...

Hi.. after getting just about everything that was wrong with my FZ fixed, there's still a kachar kachar sound from the front wheel while in motion on the bike. On the main stand, I tried rotating the wheel freely.. but the wheel comes to rest approx. after completing one rotation!! Any ideas which exact part is getting whacked, coz I need to point it out to the SVC guy AGAIN this weekend

^^ sounds like the pads are rubbin against the disc. Check the disc for warpage.

SPOKE TO THE SVC GUY TODAY..HE SAID THAT WARRANTY CLAIM WOULD BE DONE ONLY AFTER I INSPECT THE BIKE IN DETAIL...SO IM GOING TO HIM TOMOROW MORNING...LETS SEE WHAT HAPPENES...i hope they put new parts for free..otherwise ill have to spend 4500 on a new engine kit.....

please tell us what SVC guys tell you about the warranty claim after the full inspection.

I talked to the Yamaha field engineer (Bangalore) today and the below is his response to the concerns/queries I raised:

1. Rear sprocket/tyre wobble: slight wobble is not an issue, lot of bikes have it. One should only worry if the wobble makes the rear end of the bike pull to a side while riding.

2. 15W-50 semi-synth engine oil (the one used in R-15) can be used in FZ series and it will not have any adverse effect on the engine in the long run. Although, it is better to stick to the same grade of engine oil.

3. Don't fix the Gladiator engine cover on FZ as it will obstruct the air flow.

ue wheel bearings are gone i guess...maybe wheel alighnment too!!

came back home dissapointed...got wheel alignment done..850 bugs..but still the engine is not smooth...the exhaust note is a lil awkward...called the svc guy while on the way back...told me to come again on monday...will sort out the warranty thing with him...

@Vivek for getting 45 mileage... buddy first of all if you are looking for a mileage bike FZ is not for you... i mean for me until 10K kms the mileage varies drastically i.e i had got even 58 once but as for me i have completed ~29000 kms and my bike returns a mileage of 35-40... mileage is really bad from my experience. many of them here have been getting more than that, i don't know about it, but for this is the mileage i am getting. don't expect more than that, if you get more i say you are really lucky

also you can tune the carb for more mileage which you can ask in SVC, but it will be a compromise in power i would say.
Maintenance: there's not much to worry about the maintenance, the quality of parts are upto the mark from my experience...

Yeah im with Binoy on this.
Dont go for the FZ with mileage on mind.with the carb tuned for both mileage and power,that is a medium mixture,at best you will get 40kmpl

warrant issue

FZ 16 has warranty for 2yrs. can we extend the warranty by paying some extra warranty amount.

any one here who has extended warranty period.

any solutions.

i dont think so malik,i haven't heard about any extended warranty period offer yet!but try checking with your dealer.

the only maintenance you need to do is:
1. instructions should be followed properly during break in
2. regular servicing with oil changes (depending on your usage)
3. regular cleaning and lubing of chain during raining season

thats it.... and even the spare parts though od very good quality are cheaper than the other bikes....

dude even i had the same problem{ the kachar kachar noise} actually i think its nt 4m the frnt wheel but cming 4m the chain shack........told the SVC guys during the tym of servicing.......they fixed it.....but after 2 or 3 days there was again the same noise........but hav no issue regrdin that now...........even my frnd who owns a fazer had dis prblem.........i think nothin 2 wory..........

guys have some query........got my 2nd servicin done at 2700 kms.......engine oil[rs 220 one....dunno whether semi-synth or mineral] was changed.......so just wntd to knw.......wen shd i change the oil again....as my 3rd service will be due at around 5500-6000 kms.........so wil the engine oil last for 3000 kms??
