I am a bit confused. the official ngk site does not list an IRIDIUM IX for the fz 16..... i am not sure we should be using the IX on fz 16.
    Hey,

I also was a bit worried when I was searching for the answers. I checked it up in few major stores, including DSG, Castrol Bike Zone and others. They all said one thing- NGK site takes a lot of time to update. Its not done on a regular basis. I went ahead and bought one and haven't regretted it once till now. Its amazing power that comes in that package. A must buy...

        • my bike's rear tyre is not wearing evenly...left side of the tyre has 2-3mm depth of thread..right side is almost no thread..what could be the reason?bike has done 13000kms..no accidents till now..

secondly i dont normally rev the bike much in 3rd and 4th gear but reach 70+ on the 3rd and 90 odd on the 4th when i really rev it...maybe the bike is need of a service?? wen was the last time u got it serviced?? also maybe that the plug has got carbon ... a little cleanin the part of contact will maybe help...
i got my bike tuned to a richer mix,the SVC said it was tuned lean.the response is very good now,i hope my mileage doesn't go below 35....

Yup....if you dont tell them otherwise...they will tune it to a leaner mixture....
coz most of the FZ owners complain about mileage....except some guys like us...
So lets see how much do you get now....

                • I completed my 3rd free service 2 weeks back and asked them to tune the bike a bit toward mileage. The first mileage I got after servicing was 52kmpl! That too in the city by zipping on 50-60km/hr.

At some points I do feel a lagging of some sorts but overall I am satisfied with the pickup. Hence I advice all fz owners to detune ur bike a bit and watch the mileage change. I think its possible to get a mileage of 40-45 even at speeds of 60-70 at city.
Anyway 30-35 may be normal for fazer, but for the fz, which is the lightest 150cc bike, its is bad.

I know most of you fz dudes won't care abt mileage but let's do our bit to save the mileage and our purse.
                  Reduce 1 km/hr speed, add 1second 2 ur life.

                  • frankly speaking,riding a detuned FZ is dumb! buy a 150cc for 72k and struggle to overtake?id rather buy a RTR180!

It will be really BS to detune the bike... if you wan't descent mileage go for an Iridium IX spark plug buddy... if i wanted a 150cc bike with good mileage and descent power i would have bought the unicorn... the ride feel of FZ is in its torque and the butter smooth ride of 75-80 kmhr cruising speed...

                      • ^^ +1 ....we buy the fz for its raw torque ...not to be conservative ....otherwise just stick to a platina or a cd100ss or the new discover...India ki khoj 1 litre petrol mein....lolz

To ride or not to ride?? is a....

                        • yeah i guess a tuning tht will give you a mileage of 35 when ripped is the best balance of power and torque.

when my FZ was tuned for mileage ,i had gone for a ride with another FZ...he was out of my sight mostly because i could never over take trucks....i will be parallel to them for long! and i ride regularly with my friend(r15)..he doesn't rip much and recently after a short ride he asked me "is anuthing wrong with your bike?" i told him "yeah its detuned! " he was like "oh i was wondering why you were lagging behind"

Thats exactly the reason why i didn't sell off my unicorn. Riding the FZ is like taming a Torque Monster, its awesome above 70kph. On the other hand, you can almost do anything to the unicorn and it will still make your pocket happy(i fixed k&n with zma jets and it still gives mileage above 45kpl!!)

Thats what they did exactly to mine in the 3rd service.....they fu-ed it up so nicely that now it neither gives above 35kmpl and nor does it have the earlier pick up...

i think there's some mystery to this 3rd service....most of them got screwed at that instance....wonder what it is???

even im worried now...either i may get really crap mileage in rich tuning or crap power on lean mix...
idiots had to mess with it!im praying i get around 35...
