Yesterday 1st time I used the MOTUL chain lube on my bike. I was surprised not to see a foam type setting on my chain after spraying the chain lube. Is anything wrong with my product or is it all ok??

The chain lube looks like an ordinary oiling after spray, that's why I'm a little worried

n BTW, my rear chain sprocket is marked 40T.
Mine's the same...........that's the way it is
only used small amount, but did the whole length of the chain.
sprayed it at night......so no lube flying off in the morning and on to my clean wheel
btw, sprocket on my 09 Fz-s is marked 40T

You need to open the side frame where the battery is, then see the distilled water level in the battery measurement.

open the seat , remove both screws on the right side panel , one cmes off with a simple screw driver , the other one needs a special type , once u get that done, you have access to your battery , you can then check your distilled water level .

            • Rear Sprockets

No one so far has confirmed that their FZ has a 38T rear sprocket. Maybe the first batches has that... Still awaiting more responses.

              Thanks all.

              • i doubt the fz came with a 38t sprocket... if it did the corresponding front sprocket would also have to be smaller ( one tooth less), to maintain overall gearing within limits..

Anyone tried the R15 sprocket on the fz for a higher acceleration??? i have tried the FZ sprocket on my R15.

Anirudhfz1 has done it , he has mentioned the performance bump it gives , he's gettin an avg of 40 after the mod as well ...

@jd666: i've got both R15 and FZ16 , would it be ok if i just switched sprockets or should i get a new one ??? both rides have done approx the same kms ... , i jus want to see the difference .

If both the sprockets are in good condition, then there should not be any problem interchanging them.

Yeah they both are in good condition , anything to do with the chain or are they a direct fit onto both bikes ?

                          • Fazer, 1st service

i bought Fazer about 20 days ago and it has done 750 kms on odo. let me add that forums on xbhp help me decide to go for this bike and m very happy with the bike so far.
My bike would be due for 1st service next week. I had question, mainly to K2Cool who lives in Vashi too (i live in vashi as well), i read in on of his posts recently that he got his bike serviced in Panvel; wonder if Koparkhairane service center isn't good... i was planning to get my bike serviced there as it is close to where i live and thats the only SVC i know off... any suggestions from guys living around this area would be very much appreciated...

                              • @nand 15 - you can swap the sprockets.. the chain will have to be adjust on both, it will be extended slightly on the R15 ( due to the smaller sprocket ), and shortened slightly on the FZ. The chain tensioners can easily take care of that on a new bike... I did it on a 8,400 kms run R15, and the tensioner had to be bumped by 3-4 points to bring the chain to the right tension.

As a caution - dont try and bring the chain to company spec ( 20-40 mm play), but keep it slightly looser. Will prevent any damage to the chain or sprocket. Though the chain on the R15, is designed to run with new sprockets as well ( the sprocket set is sold individually).
