Yup...me too having doubts....me just curious...me astonished that you may be having the 38T bike...do check and tell....me waitingOriginally posted by Braveheart View PostDude I am away from my bike so can't check but when i checked (faintly remember) it was 38T and a few days back i was surprised to see 14/40 combination for FZ. so i give +1 for the post but this is the first thing i wish to enquire

Hey there, I checked it now and its written 40T ! Now, is that good or bad ? And what difference does that make ?Originally posted by iamvik View PostSimple request to fellow FZ owners:
Could you please count the number of teeth on your bike's rear sprocket? The number may even be stamped on the sprocket (xT for x number of teeth).
I am asking because some people have reported having 38T rear sprockets whereas I have a 40T sprocket. If there are some bikes with 38T sprockets as fitted from the factory, this may explain the large variations in mileage and performance. I am assuming that the front sprocket is 14T in all cases. Counting them would require the sprocket cover to be removed (2 bolts) and I know it's not possible for the majority of people.
Thanks to all of you.Last edited by raksj9; 02-10-2010, 01:17 AM.

The shop owner conveyd his apologies every 10 minutes citing absense of staff, machine complaint... but now the bike feels great even better than the first and second service.
Had asked to adjust the tuning toward mileage and now the pick up has slightly reduced....
Just one advice to all fz and fazer owners , look out for private individual workshops and motor clubs that offer service. They do great service
But if u take the vehicles to some private guy wont that screw up your warranty???
They might do a great service but warranty comes first for me
For people willing to lose warranty n go for a private guy do so at ur own risk,...otherwise u can search for a better Yamaha service center that does a great fob at servicing the bike

Well Binoy, I'm not too sure about the mileage because I constantly rode at above 100+ speeds while testing. The power has certainly increased a bit, but I didn't find much change in mileage. May be in city the mileage would be much better noticeable. I think the mileage hasn't dropped but increased only a bit. Not by 4-5 kmpl thoughOriginally posted by Binoy View Postso no mileage increase? but mine G-Power give lil more mileage though...

Rear Sprocket
If the rear sprocket is 38T on some bikes, then their performance will be different from those with 40T sprockets. Acceleration will be slower but top speed may be higher and mileage may also be higher.
I would appreciate it if more people could have a look at their bikes and reply.

Hey guys , really interesting discussion on the rear sprocket , i will check mine as soon as i get my bike back from SVC after the 4th service . but by the way here's what i saw there wen i left my bike for service . FZ16 for the COPS . Checked out the spec sheet on the sly , ( they din't wanna show it . got into a lil bit of trouble wid da security for gettin pic , he was ok after i told him i had come to giv mine for service
), it's the same as our FZ's . this particular one is a demo bike , waiting for the approval from the police . Bear with the pic quality , thats all my ROKR can manage .
...
Just HAD to add this , wen i went the SVC was closed , this thing was jus gettin unloaded from the truck , i went around looking for a tea shop and by the time i got back , this bike was washed , dried and was getting polished

While riding at 100+, its rubbish to check the mileage though...Originally posted by ayushkant View PostWell Binoy, I'm not too sure about the mileage because I constantly rode at above 100+ speeds while testing. Can you check it under normal riding conditions... i am not too mileage conscious... but as i always say a lil more mileage(under normal riding conditions a 42-45 is really good for FZ) is the only thing that seems missing in FZ...
