see the fz is a air cooled bike so at times in traffic the bike does seen to heat up quite heavily...roughness round 3k rpm is a concern but ya u can drive it to the svc just hold off the throttle a bit...treat her with a bit of care untill u get this thing sorted out....yes oil filter may be the problem but there is no ways that we can tell u for sure that it is the culprit..so better u get to the SVC asap...Originally posted by raksj9 View PostGuys,
This is my first post in this thread, though i've been following it for quite sometime now. I gave my bike today for its first service, at Sri Motors, Chennai. I asked them not to change engine oil as I dont trust them, and got them to change it before I took it for delivery, in front of me
. They said the engine oil filter has to be changed, and since its around 50 bucks I asked them to go ahead with it.
The experience as a whole was quite good, I had asked for a teflon coating and it looks really good! Its on par with what I used to get from TVS. Now to the bad part - After riding the bike on my way back from service, I noticed that the engine is heating a lot more than what it used to before service. Also it feels quite rough at 3k rpm itself
. I dont think its normal. I am taking it to them tomorrow and get it checked. I checked engine oil levels, and it looks good. Could there be some problem with the oil filter ? I dont wanna wreck my bike, so if oil is suspect, is it safe to drive it to service tomorrow? The place is around 5 kms from my home.sigpicGirls are like roads, more the curves, more the dangerous they are.

Guys....m going to the SVC soon. So wanted your suggestions first.....
The bike feels very rough at speeds above 82 kmph and the harshness
doesnt subside after that
......
Bike doesnt cross the three figure mark at any cost....its adamant to stay below it
...
My main concern is harshness...its been like this since the first service and they dont seeem to know the problem eirher
So what am i supposed to do guys???
What shall i ask them to do???

yeah, i know I shouldn't be worried too much about the heat, but what irked me was that it was getting hotter than before. Probably I am overreacting, but then for us bikes are not something that takes you from point A to point BOriginally posted by k2cool_87 View Postsee the fz is a air cooled bike so at times in traffic the bike does seen to heat up quite heavily...roughness round 3k rpm is a concern but ya u can drive it to the svc just hold off the throttle a bit...treat her with a bit of care untill u get this thing sorted out....yes oil filter may be the problem but there is no ways that we can tell u for sure that it is the culprit..so better u get to the SVC asap...

hey did u check if your bike is running lean ? coz if you asked them to check for the mileage last time , they would have probably made it run a leaner mixture , which could explain your lack of power and the fact that the bike is harsh above speeds of 80kmph ... if that is not that case , then i guess you gotta tell them your exact problem and hope they can figure out a solution for it .Originally posted by N-o-v-i-c-e View PostGuys....m going to the SVC soon. I finished my 5th Service. I wanted to check want they do for servicing the bike. I stayed the whole dayOriginally posted by mitz View PostI'v been to 3 yamaha SVC but there is hardly any scope for the bike owners to completely witness the service process due to space limitations.. The place where I service my bike is very conjusted & hence most of d small problems i have in my bike are taken care of by the mechanics there outside d workshop only. I dont blame them since one can clearly see the workshop is totally packed. Anyways I plan to visit a far away SVC which is very less crowded for my next free service
& witnessed what they do to it. It looks pretty normal
nothing special though. It takes around 2 to 2.30 hrs for a bike that to checked thorouly. Still now i have not changed any parts. Done 12430 kms

Oh...can the mileage setting be the reason or can there be any other too....pls do tell me...Originally posted by nand15 View Posthey did u check if your bike is running lean ? coz if you asked them to check for the mileage last time , they would have probably made it run a leaner mixture , which could explain your lack of power and the fact that the bike is harsh above speeds of 80kmph ... if that is not that case , then i guess you gotta tell them your exact problem and hope they can figure out a solution for it .
last time i had casually told them to check mileage....they didnt jot it down in the worksheet....maybe i will have to ask them about that again......
thanks....anything else to look out for???

if u did ask them to check mileage , then i guess that should be your problem , because SVC has a standard procedure for mileage n power issue . u ask them for mileage , then tune your bike to run a leaner mixture , thereby giving you a lil more mileage and lesser power . you ask them for power , they tune it to run a richer mixture , giving you some extra power at the expense of mileage ... jus check wid them . i think u can sort this out easily .Originally posted by N-o-v-i-c-e View PostOh...can the mileage setting be the reason or can there be any other too....pls do tell me...

hey , whatever mods u do on the bike , the power upgrade u get is mostly not worth the effort put into the mod , but anyway , i think u can change filters , upjet carb , get a free-flow exhaust , do some sprocketting on the performance front . tats all i know about .Originally posted by sacredguy007 View PostGuys i own a Yamaha FZ for the past 1 year. I havent done any extras on it til 2day, as i wanted to keep it as pure as possible. But nw i need few power upgrades as well as few cosmetic changes. Pls help me.
Kindly suggest sum mods!!

upgrade to fz 16 for Bharat Stage-IV
I was wondering if Yamaha plans to upgrade their existing bikes to comply with the new Bharat Stage -IV norms. They have to do it if they intend to sell their bikes. Would be good if they upgrade the engine to FI as well
