His bike's rpm keeps on fluctuating from 1.4 to 1.5k continuously. And he'd also like to know whether he'd be able to make both his headlamps work at the same time...i.e low beam together and high beam together and not just one at a time.

Bike suddenly stopped
Hi,
Got a strange problem yesterday, I was accelerating slowly, speed was then around 32-35, suddenly the bike engine stopped. The red light on the board blinked once. Could not start when it was in gear. Went to neutral and started and every thing went fine thereafter, no problem arised. Rode it for some time no problem came. What could be the reason for this, I am very much worried?

and yes you can turn on both the lights....
fit in 2 h4 bulbs in the headlight and attach them with the low and high beam switches...
and yes fazers electrical system can take the load....Timon: Orange Yamaha FZ16 2009

Hello everyone. I have been having a very annoying problem lately. The bike tends to go to left when i take my hands off the handle bar. It is not felt when I am holding them. I noticed it when I was zipping my jacket a few days back, the bike slowly was going to left. I checked if I was sitting right and I was. Went to the mechanic and he could not find any fault with the forks or wheel alignment. Went to the svc and there it was the same situation. I am unable to make out what could be causing this. The tyre pressure is also fine. I doubt it could be wheel alignment or forks but I dont know how to check that myself.
Any ideas on finding the problem would be appreciated.BreaklessBiker

Dilip, is it the clutch lever or the clutch itself, I believe the free play of the lever can be adjusted (DIY). Check the manual.Originally posted by deville_56 View PostI'm now having severe clutch play, almost one-third its free. Its also out of adjustment. What could be the issue?? Anything related to clutch?
First, though it may be fun, please do not take both hands off at the same time in the interest of your safety.Originally posted by surampudijagadeesh View PostHello everyone. There could be several reasons. What did your mechanic check ? There is no alignment or adjustment funda when it comes to steering and wheel.
Start from the basics. Check for uneven tyre wear first. Put the bike on center stand and rotate the front wheel and watch closely.
Next check the axle or the shaft to see if it is bent.Last edited by paray2x; 10-09-2011, 09:02 PM.

It doesn't affect the handling or stability,so no problem with it

I do check it regularly after the service, but did not this time. Had a mishap two weeks ago and gave it to service. It is a good practice to check like that to make sure everything is fine(I take off my hands just to check not for fun). But since I found out I have been ruling out everything including tyre wear, bent fork, low pressure, weight on the side and so onOriginally posted by paray2x View PostDilip, is it the clutch lever or the clutch itself, I believe the free play of the lever can be adjusted (DIY). My mechanic checked the alignment with vernier calipers and thread while on centre stand found them to be fine. The axle and shaft are also fine. there is no wobbling. But he mentioned the cones being worn out. It may be due to the pothole-filled roads I had to go through last week(50km) to a small village. I had the balls replaced, but the problem still persists. I will replace the cones and update. But dont know what is causing the problem even now.BreaklessBiker

Is it fixed now ? What have you done ?Originally posted by deville_56 View PostSaid it's out of adjustment
Yes, try replacing the cones as a set instead of just the bearing. How good is your front tyre ?Originally posted by surampudijagadeesh View PostI do check it regularly after the service, but did not this time. Had a mishap two weeks ago and gave it to service. Would be really nice if those who can would answer to the above questions (third post)Originally posted by Lucky Luke View PostThis follows my previous post/ questions about Joel's big bore kit.
Since this whole page is about Joel Joseph anyway (and I don't think it's off the topic): just to let you know that he has been able to afford the time to reply to the mail I sent him too, and that I am from now in direct contact with him. So no need to detail what the basic kit comprises (just cylinder, piston rings and gaskets, actually!), but I would still like to know more about the results, feeling, problems, etc... (mileage is of no concern) you guys who have his "big bore" kit experienced.
Does anyone also have a high lift camshaft on their FZ? How was it with the standard exhaust compared to the FFE? What about the bigger carb? How many kilometers have you done with this kit already? etc...etc...
Thanks to all for your replies.
.
Come on guys!
When I do something stupid, my consolation is to know that I'll do the worse one only once!

Trip PUNE-HYD-PUNE
Frustrating travel options this festival week from Pune to Hyd set me to take this trip on me FZ.
People called me mad, nuts and a reaving lunatic....who cares.
So what'd I do. Bled the engine oil and put new Shell engine oil two days prior to the trip; Cleaned the air filter; topped Nitrogen in my tires to a good 2 PSI on front and 2.2 PSI in the rear; the night before got 10 lts Shell premium fuel (yes, I'm a fan of Shell), revised my playlist.
Started the ride at 6 in the morning to avoid all the idiots en route Sholapur. Was challenging as most of them are dual carriageways and full of trucks. But after Sholapur, I just hit it. Was doing 110 for most part. Did touch 120, but felt meaningless... Overtook everything in the way; nothing overtook me, but for one Altis....
NH9 in Karnataka though is just plain miserable. The road layers peeled off and ...just miserable. Stopped at Noor for lunch and reached Sangareddy by 2. Then started this painstaking misery called Telangana movement. Had to take country lanes through villages and sh*t.....finally reached home at J.N.T.U by 4...all in all a good trip. Everything felt fine until the next day when my broken back flared up...nothing a can of Volini couldn't cure...
Just the return trip was a pain as I started around 10 and it was crowded all the way until Pune...reached home @ Baner by 7:30 and I just crashed... I needed an Ice pack for my bottom and God was it grueling...
Total trip 1200 kms about 16 hrs. Bike returned an Average of 37.28 kmpl.....which i think is pretty awesome comparing the speed variations and the load I put on it.When I'm on the road, I'm indestructible. No one can stop me... but they try.
