AFAIK it not safe to get a batt. more that 1amp than stock.Originally posted by kauria View PostSomebody please reply.
Secondly, i am planning to install a pair of Roots horns (3amp each) in place of my single horn which is only 2 amp. Is it ok for the bike?Smoke rubber, not tobacco.

Add fuse and relay and it's safe. Already installed 19 horns, majority in bikes, even on R15 with a 3.5Ah battery. Nothing to fear of unless you honk a lot when engine is off

Sorry, I forgot a comma: "cylinder, piston, rings, and gaskets"Originally posted by RanjithMN View PostNo piston?
Would be a strange "big bore" kit otherwise!
Hope that the other "big-bore-boys" will reply to the questions...

None as of now. I called him yesterday night. I could not make out what he was saying because of the sounds of bikes in the background. He was saying they will be sent by wednesday or something by courier thru dtdcOriginally posted by abhijitkn View PostHey Guys,

I dont remember when I tested like that, but the problem seems to be there since the purchase, but that feeling was negligible before. After replacing the cones it seems fine but still going to the left though at a longer distance. nothing noticeable while ridingOriginally posted by rohan_5013 View PostMust be a universal problem with Fazers..same thing happens to me
It doesn't affect the handling or stability,so no problem with it

No one gave answer to my queryOriginally posted by alto View PostHi,
Got a strange problem yesterday, I was accelerating slowly, speed was then around 32-35, suddenly the bike engine stopped. The red light on the board blinked once. Could not start when it was in gear. Went to neutral and started and every thing went fine thereafter, no problem arised. Rode it for some time no problem came. What could be the reason for this, I am very much worried?

Yamaha FZ 16 review 20000 kms driven.
This is a review of my Yamaha FZ 16. Used for 2 years 2 months. Run for around 20000 kms.
The Good:
First of all its a Great bike. Simply outstanding in terms of performance in the city. Very easy to maneuver, very safe to ride in rainy season or on wet roads. Thanks to some crazy bike rider who didn't look before coming out from his building's main gate directly on to the road, I had to experience what it felt like emergency braking on FZ 16. I was at a speed of around 65kmph. The moment the other rider emerged from the gate I panicked. This was it I thought. I am gonna bang right on to him. I pushed my rear brake lever to its max. Then applied the front discs.. The bike just slides straight and comes to a halt. No skidding or swaying or falling whatsoever. Thats the advantage of a ginormous Rear Tyre.
So its very safe in the city.
It has the best styling factor in the category of 150 -180 CC bikes. No other match. Even after so many months of launch people still eye you and your bike with awe.
Great power for a 160 cc bike. Nice pick up and great and quick braking with utmost stability.
Had never run a flat tyre in 2 years. Got a puncture once. But it rode without going flat for 10 kms to the tyre wala.
The bad:
Yamaha really needs to sort out the gear ratio on this bike. The 5th gear has no distinct identity than the 4th one. Its as if you changed a gear but nothing happened. You feel the utmost need for another gear. A 6th gear would have definitely helped at more speeds.
Due to this the bike vibrates and feels like the engines strained to create a little irritation at speeds between 40 -60 kmph. and then suddenly it smooths out after 70 kmph.
I did a speed test. Max I did was to go till 109 kmph (with too much of vibrations of course)
Need to check tyre pressure frequently. The tyre pressure drops a lot more quickly than other bikes. Don't know why or if its a problem of just my bike. But its not much of a bad thing.
The Ugly:
After 2 years of riding the bike has lost quite a bit of its pickup, mileage and the shock absorbers could have been a lot better.
I spend almost 1500 every 3 months on the servicing. But that's maybe normal for such a bike.
The engine turns rough after about 1.5k kms of riding. The Yamaha servicing people temporarily cure it by using some Lube oil. But the roughness soon returns.
Mileage has dropped from 46 in the first year to 35 now. This is the case with eery person I know who has owned an FZ 16.
I think if a RE 350 can give a mileage of more than 40 then this bike should be giving at least 45. Even my Pulsar 150 gave me a mileage of 49 to 52.
But some people may argue that you don't buy an FZ for mileage. In that case its fine.
That's it guys. This is my honest opinion of experiencing the Yamaha FZ 16.
I'm moving on to RE Classic 500 in 3 -4 months. The reason being its the ultimate upgrade for bike owner. And I love RE bikes.Very True- "Motorcycling is not, of itself, inherently dangerous. It is, however, extremely unforgiving of inattention, ignorance, incompetence, or stupidity."
I like- "Bikes are not supposed to be a rational decision. If you can park it and walk away without looking back to admire it, you got the wrong one."

Yes the rear tyre is big problem in FZ, it gets frequently punctured atleast once or twice a month. After check all possible ways to solve the problem, finally found one. Put a anti puncture Solvent of half liter in rear tyre. So as of now no drop in pressure even after 1 month.Originally posted by Viper1089 View PostNeed to check tyre pressure frequently. .
After taking rent of RE classic 350 in Goa, even i seem to have fallen love with it.

Nicely written long term review bro.
n i agree with everything you have said in it.....i have had the very same experience right from its top speed being the exact 109kmph to engine vibrations at times to the excellent grip of the rear tire.
But i love this bike too much and wanted to iron out all the flaws so i started pinpointing its probs n improving up on them. Today when she will complete 2 years (by this month end) and ~30000km i am happy to say she is far better then what she was before.
Here is a list of things i did to make it a sweet ride.
Change to a different n better oil then Yamaha Lube.
Got made a foam type filter on the stock unit itself. (after this the vibrations were completely gone up to its top speed of 109kmph and pick up n torque marginally increased)
Did the tuning myself as the service center ppl are nothing but dick heads at solving finer problems
Filled ma tires with nitrogen (its been a month and tire pressure is still the same)
About the average, its between the range of 35 - 42 depending on the way my right wrist moves
And this is the most sweet handling bike which absolutely loves cornering and begs to be leaned into a corner
There is 1 thing i completely disagree with, RE being the ultimate upgrade for bike owner.
Had a chance to ride a RE Electra long ago and the handling felt like holding an angry bull by its horns and trying to make it go the way u want it...leaning into a corner is just out of question
(something which i so love doing)
I'd like to add 1 more pointer to The Ugly: Turning radius of FZ is nothing short of a planetary orbit....it has the largest turning radius seen on 150cc bikes
