  • This is a request to all fz owners...

The 3rd service of my fz 16 is due in 2 days. Please advice me on any relevant topics which are to be presented. This is the first time I am giving the bike at an external service center ( Mototec, Trichur ) other than the crap showroom service. Went there yesterday to find the svc overcrowded with bikes. Almost all brands were found there.

I am thinking of asking them to reduce the tuning. Will it prove any problem later?
Should I change the oil to any other brand rather than yamaha's recommended?
I also think the mesh seat cover is great but pricey at 1200rs. any other option for me?
    Reduce 1 km/hr speed, add 1second 2 ur life.

Guess your not worried about warranty , it's a moot point anyway , coz gettin it from them will be a royal PITA ...

but anyway , reduce the tuning ??? in what way ? for more mileage ? they'll probably jus make it run leaner , which in the long run could harm your engine .

I think you can shift to MOTUL , how many kms done ?

It looks like the seat cover is worth it , so if u got the dough , go for it .
People ask me , why are you cribbing about the BHP ? to them I say "MORE is never ENOUGH" xbhp.com

      • Advice needed

        Hi guys

I am riding the FZ since Jan 2009 and i have done 19490 Km's , there is a dull pain that i notice in my knee and hip joints, is it because of the ergonomics of th e bike or because that i am riding too much..?

Does anybody here has a similar experience.?

        • Hi guys

I am hearing some sound coming from the disc brake like beeep beep beeeep while riding.

I showed to Svc guy two times but still getting this sound

the guy actually rubbed the pad.

Is brake fluid is the main problem should i change that ?

Guys plz help i got no replies earlier when i posted this.

how many KMS hav u done , the brake fluid may not be the problem , is it a scraping sound ? u checked the pads for wear ? i couldn't really get the beep sound u've described ...

Well i have done 3000 kms and have u heard the sound coming from indicators. it is like those but not with constant gap. May be due to scraping but yesterday only the guy rubbed of my pad and they are ok not weared. but it is still in existance

knee and hip pain...not really...on the bike pain in the a** or wrists or lower back are symptoms of riding for long...
sigpicGirls are like roads, more the curves, more the dangerous they are.

To ride or not to ride?? is a....
                very very stupid question....

3k km .. then it's not your brake fluid . indicator type sound with non regular intervals does sound more n more like scraping pads , had that prob on my old p150 classic .

@deltaforce : i don't think knee pain is a symptom on long riding on the FZ , it's exactly what k2cool has mentioned . wrists and the backside take a beating tho' , wrist pain goes after u get used to the bike . backside , hmmm... i haven't figured yet

got rid of it , naah , jus kidding , i still have it , the problem went on changing the pads ... but i guess 3k km is too soon for pads to wear out . so i'm not really sure .

It looks pretty normal nothing special though. It takes around 2 to 2.30 hrs for a bike that to checked thorouly. Still now i have not changed any parts. Done 12430 kms

Ok that sounds good bro.. But the sad part is that I get my bike serviced in less then 1.5 hrs.. We gave 2 bikes to SVC at 10.30 & they returned it by 1.30 PM. I had no idea wat they do wit the bike once the bike is inside the workshop

Well that is a possible but did you see being charged for it (in your bill)?? Or are u saying they replaced yours with a faulty one. In which case you ought to go down there and use some pleasant language

But thinking positively, have you zeroed in the source of the noise correctly. It could as simply as some wire coming in the spokes way too. Or some thing funky with the forks. The fact that this come during normal running and not during breaking is kinda weird.
                            Everyone falls down, doesn't matter...
But its how fast you get up, that matters.....

                            • i think they replaced with the faulty one.

the noice is coming definitely from the disk that is sure and while braking it does come sometimes and sometimes not.

So sould i change pads or is there some problem with the brake fluid.

                              What do u say.

                              • ^^ i don't think it's a braking fluid issue man ... if your sure the sound is comin from the disk , then the only source is the pads ... i dunno but is there anyway the pads could be touching the disk due to misalignment or something ??? but anyway , one question , HOW is your braking performance ??? that should give you some idea ...
