    • Got my 8th free service done today.Bike has done 15305kms so far.Major break down was the broken gear shift return spring, the bike was stuck in 4th gear and refused to down shift. The service centre did not have the stock of gear return spring, so was riding the bike in 4th gear for the past two days and got it repaired today. There was'nt much issue riding the bike in city traffic in 4th gear alone, but the clutch plates would have taken the beating.Changed the front disc brake pads as it was completely worn out.
      .
As usual had a worst service experience.the service guy did not check the fuel level while giving the bike for service, reason-"fuel level dip stick is lost".made me wait for half hour for typing the bill. And he keeps me waiting for getting change.
      .
      spare parts are quite cheap,
      Gear return spring-Rs 5/-
      front Disc Brake pads-Rs 130/- (CBZ's pads is Rs600 and Karizma's pads Rs2300/-)
      .
The bike is riding great.Smooth and responsive engine.Great overall quality and fit & finish. No fading paints,No rust.Mileage I get is around 35-40kmpl.
      .
The rear tubeless tyre gets punctured often.5 so far.Repairing it for 100bucks is of no use. There is always a small leak, hence i have to fill air once in two days.
seat is quite hard.I get sore bottom even for a 20mins ride.pillion seat is worst, thin cushion makes matters worse..

      • Hi. I got my new Yamaha FZ 16 Black this tuesday. The ride is so smooth and it has complete balance in the corners. But the mileage is just 20-25kmpl..
Is there any chance to improve the mileage?

        • Urgent Help Needed.!

Today when i was washing my FZ, i found out a loose transparent pipe burnt in half. The problem is that i can not find the point to which it was attached because the other half was already missing.
Can someone please check for the same with his bike and let me know where it leads to.
P.S. There are 2 transparent pipes viz. one is pinkish in color & other is just transparent. And my concern is about the later one.

Yeah! Try to keep the rpm between 3000 & 4000.Your bike's mileage will surely take a leap.
            And congrats on new bike.

One generally comes from the battery, and the other comes from the carburettor drain point. Check which one is missing a pipe.

                • hi guys,

Just want to discuss that anyhow what can be done to raise the power of our fz's to match the one of r15. What i think is by giving more fuel and air to our engine and free flow exhaust will increase the top speed by 10-20 percent and can anything else could be apart from above mentioned points also i want to ask that can i use 97 octane petrol in fz16.

You can surely improve the acceleration by using the rear sprocket of the R15. Your top speed will fall by 3-5 kms, but the acceleration of the bike will amaze you even more!!

But jd666 bhai! Wont this make a already shrort geared bike's gearing even shorter. I mean a FZ is already spunky in the low and midrange especially and kinda found wanting on the top end of things!

                        • ^^ eggjacktly. Wheelies in first and second gears will be damn easy.. and if you shift right, you might just beat all the others at the red light drags. The bike becomes an absolute pocket rocket till 80-90kmph!! We tested this on a 8000 kms done FZ-16, and the bike was awesome in traffic and for short sprints.

Downside would be a mileage lower by 5-10% further.

I wish I had the money and the parking space for another used FZ to have this sprocket mod a free flow pipe and Free flow filter. Don't have the heart to modify my Kalla the baby beast.

                            • ^^ the sprocket is hardly 150-200 bucks, and changing it is a 10-20 min procedure. You can try it for experimentation purposes. I tried the other way around also ( FZ sprocket on R15 ), and the gearing went so tall, that i could not shift into 6th before 100 kmph!!
