a problem that i am facing on my fz....
the front tyre looses a lot of air in very limited time...like in a couple of days the pressure falls to 22psi from 28...there are no visible punctures on the tread...the valve is not the issue either ...i have checked...the tyre has done 10k kms....

can anyone pls help me out...thnx in advance...
I had a same problem in rear tyre, I checked it for puncture, got 2 puncture fixed and then it was all fine. Most punctures are not visible, get it checked for puncture blowing 40 psi pressure.

That is wrong, I had two punctures and was able to run for 10 days pressure came down from 33 psi to 20 psi, but tyre did not get flat. Since this is tubeless tyre it wont loose air immediately.

Well it actually depends upon the size of the puncture, it can be run for 10days or more or less depending upon how fast your loosing pressure and till what extent.
in worst case scenario, you can only run it for a few kms (1 or 2) till the tyre goes flat.
Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

                  • Change Fazer rear tyre

                    I own a Yamaha Fazer.
I want to change the rear Tyre assembly since I would like to have a rear disc brake and would also like to enhance the overall fuel economy.
So can I replace my rear tyre with either of R-15,P220 or of Karizma which are slimmer than my existing tyre.

                    Please suggest.

                    • Fazer drastic change in milege

i am raj and new to this forum. i owned a fazer 20days back. i am facing an issue in milege. my concern is not it is low or high. the first week i just fill 2 ltr petrol and drove it till reserve indication. then i fill 2 ltr got 30kmpl. then i fill 1ltr got 64kmpl. then i fill 1ltr in the same bunk and same pipe got 28kmpl. did it again got 30kmpl. in differen bunk put 2ltr got 38kmpl. Finally last week i put 2ltr in shell petrol bunk got 50kmpl. Again i put 2ltr in the same shell petrol bunk, not yet reach the reserve condition. All these experience are based on
                      1. maintain RPM at 3000-4000 and speed at 40-45kmph.
                      2. Daily it will complete atleast 25km i.e off<==>home up-down distance.
                      3. There is only one signal between off and home. It is out skirt of chennai.

i think it is nothing related to driving condition. have taken my bike to yamaha service centre to chk any misfire is there. Ans. is "NO".

                      now i suspect the following
                      1. There would be a leakage(gap) in the fuel tank cap cover and there is a possibility for evapration . This may fit correctly at some time, so no leakage and gives high milege.
                      2. Reserve mechanism fault causing irregular reserve condition.
                      3. misfire which i need to confirm again.

As a proud FZ owner, did any one of u face dis prob? if u have any other thoughts, pls share.

                      Sorry for the lengthy mail.

Can you tell us if u switch to reserve on the Fuel Indicator blink or when the fuel line actually runs dry in the 'On' Mode? If you rely on the blinking of the indicator, then you shouldn't worry (yet) and check your kms till the line runs dry. If it is still showing the same numbers, then you should get some help.

                        EDIT:
@Everyone: I have a question. Anyone got their spark plugs changed to something more exotic? Is it showing any effects? Is it safe in the long run? My FZ16 has done 10400 kms, and is 13 months old.
I'm also thinking about getting a better horn installed - not very loud.. just about as loud as pulsars or R15 or RTR's. Can someone suggest a horn with ratings compatible with the stock battery.. so that it does not mess with the battery.

                        • fz mileage is unpredictable... no one can guess what will be the next mileage figure of it..

on average I get 35-36.. average.. with sometimes ripping and either time normal driving..

once I didn't ripped the bike.. on 40 speed 5th gear I got 45 mileage..
Riding, loving and enjoying my lord of the streets.. FZ-S...

I think it is the reserve mechanism that is to blame here....
My bike also behaves in the same way....sometimes it comes to reserve early and sometimes its late....
The SVC huys will say nothing is wrong with it....but dont listen to those lazy buggers....
they are just trying to avoid work....just get it done.....

You can get the Fazer dual horns fitted...they are pretty good....just like the pulsars but a little sober.....
i got them recently....they are available at the factory shop....
and a friend of my friend had installed the NGK iridium....
says that the response is now good....but i doubt whether there is a iridium for FZ....
AFAIK its the iridium of Honda Shine...so its upto you...
                            cheers....

                            • Thanks novice. It might sound like a n00b question but do the dual horns come in a set of two and have to be installed that way or would 1 be sufficient. AFAIK the batteries of both Fazer and FZ16 are the same, but just asking to be on the safe side.

Is it true that the spark plug could get smothered with carbon after this long? That is the main reason that I was thinking about a spark plug change. And while I'm at it, was curious if an ;'upgraded' kind of plug would help (since warranty is not an issue now).

@10400 kms clocked, what about engine oil? Which one would be better - mineral / semi synth / full synth ?

No prob with the batteries....go ahead.....the fazer horns are available
as a pair....they will remove the old one.....

There is a Gpower from NGK fo FZ but there is no significant gain from it....atleast thats what the feedback i got....else you can take a chance and go for the honda's Iridium like the others did.....

Go for the motul semi-synth or the petronas full synth......
these are the two best options available in Pune....
Dont bother with Castrol......already used it.....

                                Rest all is your decision....cheers....
