Normal Engine idle RPM is 1300-1500rpm..tuning the idle screw for less power (hence lean air-fuel mixture, more mileage, less power),so your bike must be running in lean air-fuel mixture, this may give you better mileage but can cause engine over heating and internal engine damage..

I think, the idle screw just sets the idle rpm but does not alter the air-fuel proportions. There might be a different screw for that. Visually, the throttle valve (what ever it is called) position is lowered when the idle screw is loosened. So, i guess that just decreases the amount of air-fuel mix going in to the engine from the carb at idling (no twist of the throttle grip) but does not alter the mix itself.
I might be wrong.....Last edited by asim.mohd; 11-07-2009, 12:30 PM.-AK

get the oil changed in service otherwise you will void your warranty, you can spend extra money get your oil change done later from outside....Originally posted by RanjithMN View Post

Hey all,
Finally got delivery of my FZ 16 today....
Its too damn awesome for words... Clicked just one snap of it (damn poor lighting and samsung star with no flash!) cant see much but i just wanted to share with the community that helped me out so much with my choice!!
Also invested in a cross helmet which is too cool too!! Loved the way people were staring at it in the bus when I went to pick the bike from the dealer (Ganesh Ent., Vikhroli).

Neways, thanks all and hope to keep learning from the community and maybe someday, give something back by helping some one else... xBhp rocks!!! Will post some better pics soon

Guys help me..
Can I use Yamalube SG grade(15W40) for SL 20W40 grade engine oil( which am using now for my bike)..
My off is 8 kms away from ma home. During the morn first ride (7am) i used to reach 90 - 100 when Madrs- Calutta highway crosses my path after 3 kms from home. Is this a bad riding habit??
I heard that revving the engine to higher rpm at the morning first ride will affect the engine..
Also my bike suspensions are stiffer( I rode a unicorn its smooth when compared to my bike)..Is it so for u guys?
Help me??..Its not about just vrooming the engine, sharp cuts, top speeds...A true biker should understand his machine

@ vinais- congos for ur new bike.....and yeah for the Cross too...
Just run-in the baby well and enjoy the ride for a long time...
cheers...
@ kain- you can use the 15W40...No problem....
Warm up the bike nicely in the morning before ripping it completely.....
If you rev the bike even in evening without proper warming it will affect the engine....
the time of day is not important here....Last edited by N-o-v-i-c-e; 11-07-2009, 11:38 PM.

stick to the manufacturer recommended oil..it will your engine best...
.
warm up the engine by idling it every morning when you start it for the first time...idle it for atleast 1minute and ride the bike slowly for the first half km...
.
i did'nt feel FZ's suspension stiffer compared to Unicorn..
