    • fz16 problem....need help urgent......

      i have completed....4k on my odo......but recently.......i am facing some problems with my fz16 (i hv used castrol power1 semi synthetic....and completed 4sevc)
      1. engine gets heated up very soon,,,,jst after riding 4-5 kms....
      2. its rough in low and high speed...
      3 whenever i dump my clutch i feel a zerk frm behind.....

            Hi Bro,

            I have still not gone ahead with the full upgrades yet..Only stage 1 upgrade: FF Exhaust. and i have written about it extensively on this thread... a simple google search with my userid and xbhp after it will give you all the info you need. I have been wanting to to upgrade my ride since last 6 months but leave from work is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain hence, the delay.

            The person who has done Full upgrades is RanjithMN.

              Most likely the engine oil you are using is fake.. North Eastern States unfortunately, receive a lot of fake stuff especially Castrol. Try and get in touch with the Motul guys.. Sandeep Bhat:[email protected]

              they should be able to help you locate the nearest dealer for the same. Ideal rating in the weather conditions prevailing in Assam, you can use 20W 40 Motul Mineral oil or for semi synthetic, you can use Motul Factory Line Single ester 15W 50. If you really want to spend and increase the servicing interval upto 5000-6000 kms, then use Motul Factory Line 300V Double Ester 15W 50.

              • From a past few days,I have been rather experiencing some strange problems on my bike.
                1)I had mentioned this earlier,the bike all of a sudden,randomly refuses to start.Mine is the older fz with the new kick start option.I am forced to struggle in the middle of traffic when such things happen.The service people too are ignorant and not able to rectify it as it happens very randomly.
                Also I would like to know what is the symptoms of a weak battery.My headlights and other electricals work fine,Although once it failed to start when I had kept my headlights on by mistake at a signal light after a switching off the engine(Might be a complete co-incidence).
                2)I have started to notice some kind of clicking sound from the engine,Not able to pinpoint from where exactly it is coming.Usually I dont hear it when wearing my well insulated helmet.But recently I had taken the bike on an errand nearby (without helmet) and noticed the sound.Since then I have become increasingly observant,the clicking sound increases as I rev the engine,but does not come when I switch on the bike and rev it on the centre stand.
                3)I get a kind of typical break sound when the front and rear brakes are applied(not together).This has just started after I got back the bike from paid service,and insisted the YSC people to look into the breaks as I said i was not satisfied with both the breaks.They determined the front break shoe was worn out and changed it.But they said the back break pads were fine.Since then I have started to get a kind of 'screeching' sound from the front breaks and the typical break sound from the rear.

                Could someone help me out?

                  As you had mentioned the first problem,I had the same starting issue on my 1.5yr old Pulsar 135,it just wouldn't start (both auto & kick) and my local mechanic opened the spark plug,cleaned it and put it back. You can also do that and also check the battery water level.

                  No idea about the clicking sound,but I heard it from another friend's bike also.His whole bike was very badly kept,without servicing,oil change,etc. So I didn't ask him further.

                  The screeching sound is common for front disc brakes.Dust gathers in the front disc pad,hence the sound when it comes in friction with the metal disc.Just tell the SVC or even the local trusted mechanic to open the disc pad and rub it with sandpaper.It will vanish.

                  • Need info on fixing the Digital Console

                    Hi XBhpians,

                    I am from Chennai.
                    Recently the Digital console on my FZ stopped working. No light glows except the one meant for Engine.
                    I took it to YSC and they asked me to change the complete set which will cost 2.4K. They are also not sure about the problem but guessing it could be some IC fault and all they can do is replacing the entire kit.
                    I would like to know whether this is the only option available or could it take it somewhere for fixing.

                    Any pointers to any shops in Pudupet which could help me in fixing it are welcome.

                          Most likely the 220 cc Big Bore parts have come from Automotive part shop Thailand and not from Race Concepts. Coz as of now, Joel only provides 180cc Big Bore Kits. I am not sure about the reliability factor on the parts from the other counterpart. I guess Lucky Luke can answer on that front. But i can atleast vouch for Joel's parts that they are reliable and do provide the performance Joel commits..

                            But i have been quite regular with my service and.I have been lubing the chain every 1000 kms or so.I might be guilty of redlining the bike a little too much.
                            Took it to the YSC,and the mechanic there just took the bike for a testround and said the whole chainset must be changed.I was in for a shock.
                            The clicking sound cannot be heard in traffic.It can only be heard in quieter place.Therefore,I dont know how he came to that conclusion.Now i am in a dilemma and am not sure what to do.
                            And as for the starting problem they have got no clue about it!

                              I hv my 5th svc on 2nd may.... I will follow ur advice...btw wt I abt my clutch..i feel a strange kind of zerk whenever I dump it...could thre ne ne problem in clutch disks .....

                                it happens with all high bhp bikes.. Your clutch is very fine and doing its job too very well! Dont release the clutch all of a sudden especially in lower gears without increasing acceleration.. Go to the ktm 200 thread.. Those guys are facing a jerk as if someone has hit them from behind.. But with experience they have learnt how to overcome it.. Hope you do that soon too.

                                I read somwhere, clutch lever should be pulled as fast as possible and released slow.. Unable to trace where.. Will give you the link when i find it.
