c) but it heats up even when i ride @ 40-55kph [that audio clip was recorded after a short ride of 3-4kms without any traffic on the road. rode at 40-45kph all the time.
i had ridden it 260+260KMs 5-6 months back and never felt like overheating. this issue started 3 months ago.
fuel efficiency is also slightly reduced from 42-44kpl to 39-40kpl.
Yup it is normal. Which brand of engine oil was used? Just an update from my friends from SVC.. the current lot of Yamalube is absolutely crap. One may notice blackening of engine oil in around 1200 kms and engine getting rough post 1400 kms.
Please do verify if any of you have witnessed the same.

Guys, had taken delivery of the FZ a few days ago, 1 week, done 600+ kms on it till now, a few issues i felt, but dint find asnwers to.
1. The front fork rebound seems too harsh, even on a considerably smooth even surface the forks are reboundings, i can clearly feel it in my arms, i never felt this rebound when i ride in the same roads,on other bikes.
2. I can find oil drain marks on the left side part of the crankcase in the center, around that circle thingy(dont know its name).
Any ideas guys about what it could be ??
Cheers

I dont know why Yamaha chose to color the dipstick pitch black!! Its impossible to see the color of the oil unless you put it on your fingers!! MSDS of nearly all oils prohibits skin contact.
My splendor had a white one and it was so easy to see the oil color without spoiling your fingers.
I know the engine color is black and white one will look awkward. But how difficult it is to have a black cap and white base.
you mean here as in this pic. Even I am having it from the 15-20 days of ownership. Didnt felt anything unusual as the oil level was intact and it looks minor issue.. just brown oily patches on the joint. If its a concern do tell me also.Originally posted by krish2778 View PostGuys, had taken delivery of the FZ a few days ago, 1 week, done 600+ kms on it till now, a few issues i felt, but dint find asnwers to.

Secondly the forks are hard. You will get used to it.. If serious, highlight on the first service.Last edited by muztariq; 09-29-2012, 12:20 AM.

last time they used motul 3000 4T plus 20W40 [not sure about name. but it was motul 20W40 mineral] and added something called ADV oilOriginally posted by shv18 View PostYup it is normal. Cheers,
this time they used yamalube 20W40 mineral with same ADV oil [according to its label. it reduces oil consumption]
ps: after 2nd servicing, yamalube 20W40 was blackened within 600KMs.There is no destination, I just want to keep riding.

I usually use a clean light colored rag or tissue paper, Fold it so you have a nice flat surface, Then lay the dipstick out across it, So you can see the oil on the backing clock and compare its level to the markings on the dipstick.Originally posted by muztariq View PostI dont know why Yamaha chose to color the dipstick pitch black!! As for your arrow pointing to the intake runner and the black plastic heat absorbing gasket type material, There is no oil leaks there. Well I certainly hope not!!!
I think the OP was referring to the left side as you are sitting on the bike, Where the clutches are located, there are 2 circles with a slot in them, the front one for the clutches and the smaller one towards the rear wheel is to check for timing and position of the piston. You will see there is a notch and a mark on the wheel, when they form a line then the piston is at TDC.2013 Ducati M795 with a few mods in here http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/superbik...95-owners.html

Engine oil additives a complete no no from my end. Motul by default has additives. Next time don't let them do that. I don't think anywhere in the manual also it is mentioned to add additives in the engine oil. If they say that it will void the warranty, ask them to give it in writing and tell them that you will mail this to Yamaha back office. The noise from the catalytic converter is normal. Happens due to cooling.Originally posted by hgps View Postoh, thanks

FE signs are also normal. Perhaps something wrong with the petrol bunk. Do remember if the temps are higher the density of fuel also reduces. All modern petrol/gas bunks display the density of fuel in percentage.

My answers above in BOLD.Originally posted by krish2778 View PostGuys, had taken delivery of the FZ a few days ago, 1 week, done 600+ kms on it till now, a few issues i felt, but dint find asnwers to.

It is normal. The grade ratings of the fork oil and suspension settings of all bikes are different. You will find a splendor to be squeeshy. FZ and Fazer have comparitively stiffer settings then that of other Indian bikes in the same 150cc category. Gives you more feedback on the handle while riding, something you will get used to. It is very helpful when one is doing hard cornering, the feedback helps you to adjust your lean angle and determine speed limit accordingly.
2. I can find oil drain marks on the left side part of the crankcase in the center, around that circle thingy(dont know its name).
Any ideas guys about what it could be ??
Suggest that you wait till the first service and then show it to the SVC guys.

Yes, will first try what mikesaid, and if still if persists, will be taking it up with the svc. and about the fork, yes, maybe ill get used to it. Lets see, but on a considerably even road, the forks rebounding a lot is a bother for me(atleast for now), will closely watch how things go from here.Originally posted by shv18 View PostMy answers above in BOLD.

what ADV oil?? Are you serious.. Check out the bill - They wont put anything for free!Originally posted by hgps View Postlast time they used motul 3000 4T plus 20W40 [not sure about name. but it was motul 20W40 mineral] and added something called ADV oil

Never allow any additive addition even if its free. I am also failing to understand how an oil additive reduces oil consumption? It would only do it by increasing viscosity! If the viscosity is indeed increased, its the cause of your heating issue.
Usually oil additives solves two purpose(what I have read.. there may be more purposes)
1) Higher detergency, engine flush - You put them in oil just before oil change and run idle for 10-20 mins and drain the oil. Refill fresh oil.
2) Higher ZDDP - Additive used in racing applications. calculated amounts added to reach an optimum zddp level. Racing teams calculate zddp in oil.. adds as much which will bring the levels to wxyz ppm. Adding more will spoil the engine. Adding less will reduce protection.
As shv18 has informed. Dont allow any additive. I think the additive has increased the viscosity of the oil a lot and it is causing your engine to overheat.

Guys, Last week I found out that the measurement which is provided with System-G is not correct. The 10ml marker is way above 10ml, its around ~14-15ml. I read this thing on some other forum and thought of trying out myself. I took 2 unused small measurement cups from different companies which are provided with some medicines. I also found that the measurement provided with System-G was completely inaccurate.
If you pour System-G with their measurement then it is bound to finish before expectation. So please check it yourself and let us know if you find anything different.
