1k rpm is below the recommended engine speed. The Manual Book states it should be between 1300 to 1500 rpm. Am curious to know with such low rpm for idling doent it take a bit too long to start 1st time in the morning. Also doesnt the Engine stall at times???? Do leme know if this is true.Originally posted by krish2778 View Post

Teflon Coating is not actually necessary.IMo it doesnt even help much and is a pure waster of money..... What your bike needs is a polish from carnauba Wax (formula 1 costs around 300rs good for around 20-25 coatings) twice a month along with a bike cover(costs around 300rs)...... if the place of your work or study does not have a shaded parking spot carry a cloth(cost "0") with you to cover the tank while parking.....Originally posted by vimal_hbk View Postguys...... is it gud to get a teflon coating for my bike??? the guy in Kamala Yamaha asked me whether to go for it.... will they b doing it properly?? i heard some ppl cheat......they just polish nd give nd charge u upto 1000 bucks for it...... i seriously dnt know if coating is necessary......how much will it cost??? (if genuinely... :P)
i ahvent done any teflon coating and yeat after 3 years of ownership the colour is as good as new.... you can chk out the pics in my fb link...Timon: Orange Yamaha FZ16 2009

Yes, bro, your views are right, with idling rpm at 1k , its stalls a lot , and its really tough to get it started up in the morning, that was my first problem , a quick turn of the Idling screw rectified that, its at 1.25k rpm now, that issue is rectified , no problem with morning starts now. Getting it started at first crank itself, when its too cold or too early i also use the choke , so no issues there also.
Guys, a new thing i noted today, on the LHS side of the bike, on the crank case there are 2 circular thingy(dont know the name) which can be removed, i can see oil trail marks surrounding that area, dont have a camera right now , so cant post pics, i hope you guys understand what i'm referring to. Any idea why this is coming ? is it supposed to happen ?
Cheers

After suffering from puncture almost every month, I was fed up wid this Tyre and limit crossed when old puncture leaked and had to put 3 puncture strips to control it
(poor tyre)
Almost made my mind for new tyre but came across the new tyre sealant called "Puncture Free", tried it after satisfying myself over puncture leak guarantee from shop keeper with money refundable
. Let see what happens in future or else new tyre most probably Mrf Vyde
Biker is not recognised by its byk but love for his byk

I Haven't used it much but indeed good for touring. It has a capacity of 42ltrs all together if i remember correctly. Though my version didn't come with rain covers, you can check with them if they have issued the same with the newer one. The Dirtsack guys.. very responsive and based in Mumbai. . BTW any review of this bag?
If you want insane capacity then go for getoffurass bags (name sounds funny!!) with over 60ltrs of space:

my bike feels too hot even after short rides [3-4kms] with burning smell coming from the engine. ;-( sometimes engine shuts down while riding in city start-stop traffic.
Upload Audio | Listen to Audio | catcon | YourListen
listen to this. is this normal? the rate of click sounds are much faster than it used to be earlier.
bike was serviced regularly. odo reading is 4230kms. last servicing done at 4185kms. engine fins and crack case [or whatever its called] is clean without any mud or dirt blocking airflow.
condition of spark plug:
after cleaning:
Is that rapid click sound from catcon is normal after short ride of 3-4KMs ? earlier it used to heat up after 5KMs.
now it heats up within 1km.
i'm not sure what could be the problem. this issue is not solved in last 2 servicings. SVC guys said its an air cooled engine. it will heat up. without even checking it X-(There is no destination, I just want to keep riding.

Your Spark Plug Picture shows that the engine is running rich....but there are carbon lumps deposit on the plug..My guess is there are similar deposits on top of piston leading to higher compression and heat you are mentioning....Either your petrol is bad or there is a leak of engine oil into the combustion chamber...(Valve stem seal leak).I am assuming the engine oil is changed at 2 k Kms since you are maintaining it well and is still in Warranty.Originally posted by hgps View Postmy bike feels too hot even after short rides [3-4kms] with burning smell coming from the engine. ;-( sometimes engine shuts down while riding in city start-stop traffic.

Just cleaned the chain using motul chain clean and lubed using the chain lube from motul... Can really feel the difference in the bike....
A general question... How often should we clean the chain?? I manly ride in the city and thus the conditions are quite dusty.Your pair of feet can tire you... Your pair of wheels can never tire you...

How often do you wash your bike?Originally posted by arijitmaniac View PostJust cleaned the chain using motul chain clean and lubed using the chain lube from motul... Can really feel the difference in the bike....

Give it a quick lube after each wash.
Other than that once a month AFTER cleaning your chain with diesel/Kerosine/chain cleaner.
Spray on the inside of the chain while spinning the tyre by hand. Don't be tempted to spray with the engine running in 1st gear.
Centrifugal force will force the chain lube outwards.
Take your time and use a piece of card or old cloth to catch any overspray from the chain lube. It is very tacky and sticks like $h1t on a blanket to the rim and swingarm.
Make sure you give the chain lube can a good shake. Around 1 minute is good. Otherwise the lube will be very thick.2013 Ducati M795 with a few mods in here http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/superbik...95-owners.html

You may have the following issue -Originally posted by hgps View Postmy bike feels too hot even after short rides [3-4kms] with burning smell coming from the engine. ;-( sometimes engine shuts down while riding in city start-stop traffic.
a)Idle rpms very low (as you are saying engine shuts down in traffic). Warm up the engine.. take it for a spin of around 10 km and set the idle rpms to 1400 (though manual says 1300, but I found engine shutting off sometimes at that rpm. 1400-1500 is working fine)
b)Oil overfilled - Oil pump not working properly.
c)You are over-speculating - Check other bikes. If you are in cut to cut traffic, engine does get heated up(no air cooling). If you are doing 3-4 km in 20-30 mins - highly possible.
My 4000 km bike used to overheat after 20 kms of continuous ride.. there was some smell too. Yours is doing in 1 km. Which is way too short.

Can the motul chain cleaner be used as a general cleaning solvent, like for e.g. the electrical switches?Your pair of feet can tire you... Your pair of wheels can never tire you...

I can't comment, I havn't seen or used Motul brand chain cleaner.Originally posted by arijitmaniac View PostCan the motul chain cleaner be used as a general cleaning solvent, like for e.g. the electrical switches?
Try spraying it on a scrap piece of plastic, check for discoloration and if you feel its safe then try it.2013 Ducati M795 with a few mods in here http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/superbik...95-owners.html

a) idle RPM is @ 1400RPM
b) no idea
c) but it heats up even when i ride @ 40-55kph [that audio clip was recorded after a short ride of 3-4kms without any traffic on the road. rode at 40-45kph all the time.
i had ridden it 260+260KMs 5-6 months back and never felt like overheating. this issue started 3 months ago.
fuel efficiency is also slightly reduced from 42-44kpl to 39-40kpl.There is no destination, I just want to keep riding.
