If it still persists then dismantling everything would be the next step, ofcourse getting everything done by a trained technician.
    Pretty strange problem!!

Do you feel any power loss when you twist the throttle? While the pillion is there, the bike stalls completely or stalls gradually?

To which kamla yamaha did you go?

My experience at borivali was ok, they just run away from doing things that we tell them to do.

    Cheerz!!

Get the power rating of your battery checked. Also, get your ignition coil checked.

How many kms have you done?

The real beauty lies in throttle's twist!!

Headlight can be replaced, Head cannot be. Wear a helmet.

Did the svc clean the air filter or change it? because as far as i know FZ air filter cant be cleaned. It has to be replaced.

If your carb is dirty and/or the choke is pulled the ride will be jerky with frequent shutting of the engine.

When was the last oil and oil filter change?
      What is the idle rpm?

sorry for late reply......buddy u sure abt the air filter change???.....becoz as far as i have seen they clean with high pressure blower.

the oil and oil filter was changed at around a month back....

      idle rpm is 1.2k

also can anybdy suggest where i can find system G i m done searching for it...no car accessory shops nor BP petrol pumps got it...in mumbai....!!!

If your battery is in good condition then ,do check for any blown fuse
also if fuses are ok then starter relay might be the issue!

No flat spots nothing. Funnily the problem only occurs at night.. so i am still scratching my head over it!!

As a safety i got the bike checked at Kamla Yamaha. However, there is no issue with the carb tuning so the flat spots thing is thrown out of the window. I also had suspicion with the Air filter, Spark Plug and CDI unit as well. But all seems to be fine with them. I feel the Air Induction System is the main culprit however, i thought it would be best to get a few suggestion from you guys to pinpoint the problem..

          Thanks & Cheers,
Do your bike stalls while RPM is droping?
and after stalling it takes long self to start-and again back to normal? if yes then
i think ther might be water in your fuel tank
drain all the fuel through the fuel cock in a clean plastic transparent bottle
u can then find out how,s the condition of fuel if ther iz water it will settle down at the bottom and petrol will float above it!
          Worth a try!

Iridiums are one of the best things you can give your bike. Once you use it there's no turning back. I have it in my Zma since 20,000 odd kms now and it still amazes me everyday! Personally I think all bikes should have them as a standard fit. Had got it for 550/- about 2 yrs ago. Caution: sometimes its not much of a difference if you're a newbie biker
PS- iridium sparkers are meant basically for a better pick up n performance. It may or may not effect your moleage depending on the bike

Perhaps check the plug gap and possibly close it .1mm
Spark Plug gap is fine.. got it checked. It is happening when i try to rev it at 4k or under 4k rpm, regardless of whichever gear. The problem only happens at night when the ambient temps go down. I thought initially it was carb tuning so got it check and did the Gas-o-meter test as well. The tuning is fine. Got the rubber throttle valve diaphragm and the throttle slide checked for any holes or damages. Nothing!!

I go to only the Kamla Yamaha in Sewree.. they are the best and do top notch job always. Bike doesn't stall, when i apply throttle, the rpm just goes down to idling or less.. when i thorttle hard then she is fine. After that for sometime it feels like she is starving for fuel but then it is alright! Ignition system is alright.. no issues with the spark nothing.. she is flying in all gears and throughout the rev range there is no problem.. only at times this is cropping up

I am indeed thinking of going for a full fuel lines, throttle body check up and AIS system to be checked thoroughly.. my suspicions are on either the fuel lines or else the AIS as earlier once the AIS was cleaned she was performing just fine without any troubles. I am just worried that this problem should not re-appear with the big bore system being installed... so trying to get rid of it in stock stage itself!

Indeed a weird problem.. so still scratching my head over it!!

                • ^^^ here's what you need to do. Tear the whole carb apart and clean each and every part, and I mean each and every part and each and every orifice. Clean with a carb cleaner spray and and dry and clean every orifice with pressured air. Assemble the carb in a clean environment.

Replace the fuel lines, fuel filter with new ones, and have the fuel tank cleaned throughly. No short cuts, get it done in front of you.
Also check the sealing between the air filter, carb, inlet manifold for any air leaks. Even a pin prick hole will create the problem.

You have confirmed my suspicions. Thanks as always abhimanyu31. I was thinking of getting everything done at one go when we are ripping apart the whole bike for the RC mods.

Sirji, would request you to help me pick a date next week so that the build can commence as discussed earlier.

Power rating was checked and it was good.Bike has done 22k in 2 years.
I checked with all yamaha service centres and they dont have the RELAY in stock now or they are refusing it to sell in the counter.
Can i fit any other aftermarket relays if so what should i ask for?
also we cleaned the airfilter and stupid yamaha is refusing to sell even an air filter at counter@BIKERS YAMAHA,chrompet, chennai.

                      • Last month i brought a set of ROOTS WINDTONE HORNS, 12v..
i fitted them myself, but a noticed that when i blew them a few time back to back, their intensity of sound would decrease..
i wanted to know that ' is a relay circuit necessary..?
i just fitted them without a relay.. As on the box, it wasn't mentioned.
i got scared for my battery and changed back to stock 'peeeee' horn

yeah man, very true. shamelessly hovering over a bike, checking it out beyond limits is what many people do. sometimes I wish I had just bought a P150.. so I could just park it anywhere and know that people wouldn't be hovering over it like they do with the 200NS.

yeah! people use bikes stood on center stand to sit alot. This is one reason I usually put my bike on side stand only.

You know I kind of wonder what will happen to the 2013 Kawasaki Nninja 300r in public places. It's got this stunning new design and man it'll be like bike porn to public haha..

I have been using Shell's Semi synth AX series(dont remember the name) for the past 5k+ kms and it is still good... No sticky gear shifts, no excessive vibrations nothing.... I would recommend Shell.

The other good ones are Motul Semi synth, BP's 4T NXT.

Stay clear off Savsol, Castrol Activ.

Yamalube stays in the neutral zone.
