  • Fuel Meter or Fool Meter

as I always says FZ' Fuel Meter is Fool Meter ,
no worries just believe in your self to measure the fuel left
    -------

BTW guyz i just noticed my bike is behaving a bit different,
i can't say it good or bad,
but i noticed @ 5 th gear and exact 3000 rpm, my speed is 53,
    and @ 4000 its 67 kmph, and @ 5000 rpm its 79 kmph..
isn't it too much for this rev range??
i have no idea what's going on,
till now got no chance to go 80+ ot 5000+ rpm but I am woried about it,
    any idea???

    • Mates I got fz 15 days back and its 560 on the odo..Till now i never been to 50KMPH and more than 4 RPM..

But today i been to nandi hills and i revved to 6.5 k to 7k RPM in 3rd gear

Does it spoils my engine as it is still in run-in period?

Depends upon how long you did that. If it was only for a few seconds, it wouldn't affect it too much.

BTW: You can rev it to 6k freely since you are in the 500-1000km mark. So says the manual.

Standard recommendation- AVOID IT...thats what I am doing with my Fazer...but I had a talk with showroom guy he said that 40-60 km/h is fine until you do it in a gradual way..rather than abruptly reaching certain level...my ODO is still under 200...for 10 sec reached speed of 70 yesterday...and man!! the kind of control bike starts executing as you shoot up slowly is amazing..although came down from 70-55 within 15 seconds..but still I can expect nice control at higher speeds in future...but as if now..I am using my bike in range of 45-55 nothing more than that..will open up only after 1st service.

Also yesterday..got teflon coating on my bike...and trust me..since then the bike is looking just scintillating...earlier I read on various previews and reviews pre-launch time of the bike..that its surely be going to be head turner..and fellas thats true..people are turning back and having a glimpse at the bike..so kinda enjoying the adulation I am getting on the road...
Also got FI hard wax polish..which I will be using every fortnightly...Teflon coating came at 500 bucks..which I got it done from a CAR accessories shop.

One more important thing...I have altered the headlight settings..now it will be both lamps in low as well as high beam....and god it looks awesome...all fazer owners..do it to feel the difference...

rest I am enjoying the bike..need to get a fuel tank lock to avoid any kinda of fuel theft..got a full tank on 14th..490 bucks and tank was full...will chk out the mileage now..

mean while can some one please suggest that what should be gear shifting patterns i.e. at what speed what gear (sound like a dumb query..but still..me a newbie)...

            Enjoy!!

Did u do this yourself /some mechanic/ svc?
Wont this be a strain on the battery?

              Cheers...

                • [FZ 16] Need info about Driving style ...

HI Guys / Hardcore bikers ,

I had bought my FZ-16 3 months back and as of now I have done 3800 Kms on it.. Am just loving the experience :-) . Few general questions to ask and few issues as well.

                  a) In most occasions I have touched the Red line on the Odo doing close to 8800 - 9000 . Is it ok on the engine to ride at high RPM and high speeds , even though it lasts for 3-4 Mins . If not how adveresly can the engine be affected. ?

                  b) I am having very much difficulty in downshift from N 20 1 st . It started after 500 Kms . till then the transmission was butter smooth . any solutions ?

                  c) Vibes and engine noise is high when i touch the 60 -65 Kms mark . It doesn't depend on the RPM but the particular speed.. what could be problem ?

                  d) Getting very weired noise even when slightly holding the front brakes . Had to replace the front disk brake pad recently because it was worn out. Is the noise normal . any solutions ?

After all I drive aggresively and can you all suggest the best Driving style . I'd like to use and maintain this excellent bike for atleast 5 years and not to destroy it.

                  Cheers
                  Alex

Of course got it done from a mechanic at the car accessories shop itself. It looks perfect . It will strain your battery only once you ignite without your bike engine on. So make sure when you start your bike after engine ignition then only switch the headlights on. Don't ever leave it on if your engine is not running..else it will drain out your battery.

                      Less then RTR,
its in range of 30 to 55 depends on your riding style..

no specific speed, just remember upshift @ 4000 and downshift @ 2000 rpm.

                      its a Fool Meter mate,
                      can't get rectified,
but Single Bar in Full tank ..
                      you should complain again

                      a) not much, but don't make it a habit,
                      it reduces engine life,

                      b)try shifting @ 2000 rpm,
and if problem persist get your Clutch freeplay checked,

                      c) its common for all FZ' ; 57 to 64 is rough patch of FZ,

                      d) sckreench like sound is common, but if its too loud get your Disk Alignment and Front Fork Alignment checked,
I had similar problem but now rectified..

no one can suggest you a Driving style its up to you how you want to ride,
if you want your bike to last long, don't get used to of triple digit speeds,
if you want to enjoy high speed highway cruising 80-90 speed is enough..

good for you, public and bike

maybe tacho is at fault or the speedo... but m no expert. my 4000-4500 rpm is smwhere 50-55kmph
and rest is hardware... nothing much can go wrong there, I presume your bike is in stock condition.

gawd.... my bike looses power at 7500 rpm.... then do you forget to change gears or its just the vibes that you like or its just me whose bike runs out of steam there... and mine never crosses 8000 in straight without slope... comes to around 110kmph now its dropped to 104 today. well i need an oil change as far as i know... will recheck after service.

well at high engine speeds damage is done when there is not enough cooling in place so avoid doing it on shorter gears... on taller gearing like 4th -5th its safe to do... with light loading of your bike.
and driving harsh is bound to cause trouble in your vehicle... so be prep... so am I.

One of the most annoying thing abt the Fazer is the number plate on top of the fairing. It looks out of place. The images you uploaded of your bike dont have a number plate. Where do you intend to have it?

                          Thanks,

I am yet to get the number..yesterday only saw one R15 without number plate in the front..but the number was written on the part above front wheel mudguard. Is it a traffic rule violation of not having number plate in the front??

Even I am not very sure about it. Will let you know asap.

                              • First fall..

Fell for the first time guys..thankfully was in low speed and it was my apt cellar so no major damages..

the ground was full of muck and slippery mud and was travelling w/o headlight on and so slipped.. First fall really is disappointing

Only small scratches on the end parts of handle and mirror and front indicator..
the tank wasnt affected in anyway thankfully..

But really bummed bcos it is my first bike and i have grounded it within 10 days..

can i do anything to cover up the scratches on the mirror and indicators(Plz dont say replacement)??
                                signature not found..
