Well, that is the purpose the switch exists for. There might be a loose contact inside the switch for some bikes and you are supposed to get a replacement for it from Yamaha. Warranty Power. Go, get it.

When i asked abt the SVC guy if i can use it for the reasons you mentioned..he shaked his head vigourously and said 'sir, use it only during emergency and avoid using it unnecessarily' ..

Just saying what d SVC guys told me..

    • well.........is the gearshifting supposed to be completely noiseless......i do whatever the manual says......upshift at 4-4.5k.....downshift at 3k and below.....but still the upshifts are fine.......the downshifts make a "tak-tak" noise.......should i get this checked at the SVC or is it normal for downshifts????

It is not a choke, that has to be used once in a while...it is meant so that we don't use the ignition every now&then!

There is an optional crash guard available for the FZ. Get it asap! I wish there were crash bobbins available for the R15, I would have got it the day I got the bike&saved Rs.1200 (billet clutch lever accessory-Rs.1100+Rs.65-footpeg) when my bike slipped&fell in my own building parking!

What's a crash guard? Is it the same as the leg guards? Can someone post the pic?
