For RPM screw, refer page 2-1 of manual,
if you have problem locating it,
    do a simple thing,
twist the Throttle( ignition off), you will notice a metal piece, attached with a cable, near carburettor is moving,
a screw, covered with spring is idle RPM screw,
    -------

Fuel Screw,is one which is in golden color,at left down side,(EDIT- of carburetter )

    remember,
its A Do It yourself thing,
but if not done properly, you will end up with a screwed carb,
    so do it very slowly,
do it if your bike has done 4000+ kms (5000 kms,as yamaha Guyz says)
else it will reduce engine life by a big margin

    Hi Anjit,

I tried the manual but couldn't get the screws inplace. Both these screws are on the left side of the body, right? I found 1 screw just below the oil filter. Is it the fuel screw?

I've an FZ that has clocked around 6k km. Should I ask the SVC guys to do it or can i do it on my own?

rpm screw is placed near to the fuel cock, on left side just below the fuel tank,
and fuel screw is placed at carburettor, which is placed right behind the RPM screw..

if you having problems regarding this,
then you must get it done with SVC,
      they do it for free

Thanks a lot. I'll goto the SVC itself. Or else I'll atleast ask them its location.

How much is the difference in the mileage after this?

yeah right its good to see get things done first then Do It Yourself

my friend used to get 40 in his FZ 5800 kms old,
now he is getting effortless 50,

my other friend's P-200 returned him 52, with 60 kmph constant speed,
that's pretty good mileage for him,

but I am getting 50 on my stock carb

Well I'm also getting around 40. But that's after I drive like crazy on highways...
Hope that the SVC guys can tune it perfectly. There might be a chance that they may also not be able to do it nicely?

I think either u r shifting gears at very low speed or u r shifting gears without proper acceleration...

                        not at all,
they are best in this job ,
and even if they do so,
you can get stock settings very easily..

                        shift above 2000 rpm,

                        but don't try shifting @ 8000 rpm

                        sir it can be true,
Yamaha was previously planning for Gladiator 165,
its engine is perfect for Fazer.
I don't think Yamaha will not make a direct entry in quarter liter segment,
they first enter there own created segment i.e. 165 cc,
no wonder if they tune it to produce more then 19 ps, as it was 16.5 ps engine,
but at prising front Bajaj rules all Companies

4-4.5k rpm is fine but I think u'll get used to the gear shift...
I basically don't look at the rpm while shifting but I take care of the speed variations like:
                          1st gear till 10 kmph
                          2nd gear till 20 kmph
                          3rd gear till 30 kmph
                          4th gear till 40-45 kmph
                          5th gear from there on...

The rpm never goes past 4.5 k in any case....

yeah its because of large surface area of rear tyre,
                                exactly like a car,
                                its normal don't worry
