      don't worry about that.
@anjit : thnx. i too have experienced this. Till 5k, the engine is smooth. Just as it reaches 5k, i feel something in the engine is getting rubbed against.
      now i know its ok.

          • gears not shifting

while going through the posts, i read somebody reporting that sometimes
            it gets difficult to downshift.

i had given my bike for servicing yesterday, and on delivery had found the same problem, took it back to the service centre today.
the service advisor said that the clutch cable is hard and not properly lubricated. He asked a mechanic to lubricate it.
In 5 minutes, i was on my way back to office and the problem did not resurface.

even i have faced this problem.
the screw became loose a couple of times, got it tightened,
but the screw didnt relent and it finally fell off a couple of weeks back.
Got this fixed at the service centre. But yesterday, the handle couldnt be locked by turning it to the left and also the ignition key couldnt move to the On position.
On enquiring whether this is specific to my bike or to the whole model, the service advisor told me that it is not specific to FZ model and is seen in Gladiator model to ( can somebody pls validate this ?).
He also said that it happens due to bikes getting moved in parking lots(pressure gets applied( when other ppl move your bike here and there) to the screw threads due to which the screw loosens) .

                  • Guys today i faced an issue because of engine kill switch..

On the way back from office when i stuck up in the traffic i turned off the engine using engine kill switch(which i rarely do). when i ON the switch again and start the engine, Surprisingly the engine dint started.after trying for one hour (yeah you read it correct) i able to start it with llittle adjustment in the switch position..

So guys be careful with the kill switch as the SVC guy(i called them) told that the switc in FZ is not perfectly adjusted for most of the bikes

                    • hmmm ... That's really news to me ! ... I've been using the switch since i got my bike and it has given me no such starting problems except for a time when I forgot to switch on the fuel tap
People ask me , why are you cribbing about the BHP ? to them I say "MORE is never ENOUGH" xbhp.com

                        Well same here,
I've been using the engine kill switch at every signal every now n then . But it has never given me any problem till date in terms of starting the engine again .
Anyways thanks a lot for sharing the info. We'll be more careful on signals next time onwards. Atleast will keep the bike on left side before killing off the engine, so that if it doesn't starts on green signal then we do not block the traffic unnecessarily and get frustrated even more...

...........well i think killing the engine off and starting it at each signal might take a toll on ur battery.....wont it???(i used to do that on my activa and in a few days the fuse blew off......so i think we should avoid doing it...should'nt we?

                          • I kill the engine about 3 times out of every 4 times I stop at a long signal. on my R15.

Every time I switch off the engine with the engine kill switch and not with the ignition.

Well, that is the purpose the switch exists for. There might be a loose contact inside the switch for some bikes and you are supposed to get a replacement for it from Yamaha. Warranty Power. Go, get it.

The switch is meant for using at signals, so that you don't have to turn the ignition off with the key everytime&the battery also stays on if you need to honk/use the indicators. Use it for what its meant, I'm using it since 5 years on my Fiero F2&no problems with the fuse yet!
                              Quench my thirst with gasoline!

I donno anything abt this . But at signals where the green light will take about a min to start, I prefer shutting down my bike . I don't think it shud have any effects, else many wudn't b dng d same at signals.
                                Can anyone elaborate on this??
