yeah man , I had the same problem with my reeboks as well , so I shifted to badminton shoes from yonex which have an almost flat sole and now I'm fine

hey man , haven't you already asked about lowering the gear lever as you felt it was too high , I dunno exactly but I thought it was you ? I apologize if I'm wrong ...

one more disadvantage of 60% aspect ratio radial is that they tend to deform the rim on bad roads and keeping higher pressures will worsen the situation

                60% of 140 = 84 (tyre spec - 140/60)
                80% of 100 = 80 (tyre spec - 100/80)
                90% of 100 = 90 (tyre spec - 100/90)

Going by that, the profile of the FZ's rear tyre is not any smaller compared to what other bikes have in it's class.

maybe coz its radial... and definately 4 mm lesser than the nearest and puny 5 spokes
I wrote this coz i was told this by the Service engineer.
He said that this problem is occuring with people who drive in rural areas... M not an expert at this

BTW does someone know P150 rear tyre specs?

                  • neither am I an expert... FZ's alloys are light weight ones and are not able to take the beating of bad roads so well. Bent alloys has become a common scene at the SC's. Add to this, at most places people fill in 40 PSi in the rear tyre. More so in rural areas where air is generally filled and pressure checked with a clumsy guage that shows 35 when it is actually about 50-55.

With such pressure in tyre, the cushioning a tyre is supposed to give is lost. This very hard tyre passes on every shock into the alloy.

                    P150 rear tyre = 100/90 x 17

Had a word with Engineer from Chennai (reached via phone no provided on this thread).. He listened patiently and as soon as i shouted i need a replacement, he asked me to provide him my contact details which i did. He ensured me that some service engineer from MRF Pune will get back to me shortly. I doubted him, but culdnt do much.

10 mins, and i got a call from MRF Pune, asking for an appointment today, but as today i am busy, wont be possible for me to meet him..have fixed an appointment for tommorow, lets c what happens.. keeping fingers Xd...i am not goin to settle for anything less than Replacement!

hmm, I've had similar issues with my running shoes but sprinting shoes with spikes are perfect but u can't walk on roads with sprinting shoes.
While using the running shoes I wrap the toe area of the shoes with a wrist band as a gearshift cushion, it helps while shifting and avoids damage to the shoes. If you want a permanent solution mount a heal shifter after changing the pegs. Else just try something inventive.

You can modify the position of the gear shift pedal to a slightly higher position. No need to go to the SVC, its only a matter of one screw. Even your local mechanic will be able to do this, provided he's not a complete moron.

PS: I did this mod over a month ago, and haven't faced any problems till now.

OT: I checked the mileage yesterday and it came out to be ~ 45.2. Includes a few kms by my friend who is the shittiest and the most rash rider I've ever seen.
But yeah, he's not my friend anymore

                              • Using slightly higher tyre pressure is good for mileage&pillion riding too, but you lose out on cornering abilities by a considerable margin as the contact patch decreases. I have been running my R15 with 30/35 psi front&rear respectively&it does give good mileage (43 in city), but I can see that the contact patch is not as much as those R15s' which run on 28/33.
