Once my fz skidded when i was taking a turn on freshly tiled (those cement bricks which are layed on road instead of tar, they are smoother when new ) road which was drenched in rain and I was not fast. Later i came to know that a lot of bikes skid there. but still its the best on tar.

guys i had a small question that in the manual its written that between 500-1000 kms the engine should not be pushed beyond 6000 rpm so is it necessary for me to rev it?? i mean my driving cycle involves city driving mainly and over the weekends only i get some time out so in city conditions its not possible to get it till 6000........so is it necessary for me to get it 6000 atleast once?? rest till now its giving me near about 40 its 881 kms and first service is due very soon...........and its quite vibe free but i will check as per N-O-V-I-C-E..........

            • novice: fz is the smoothest of all engines in 150cc segment after unicorn.. vibes is not a common thing in Fz. i have never faced any such vibration till 100.after tht it starts to vibe, ,.but too itz not much as rtr or pulsar engine which starts vibrating after 50.,till date i hav completed 9000km.so dude i think u gotta check with your suv guys there might be sum problem wid ur bikes engine.

Dont lose heart buddy...I too get a mileage of 36-38 in city+highway(50-60) conditions and its worse than that when riding above 60 kmph....

@All : Guys, Please I want as many FZ owners as possible to answer the
following question...I have heard all and sundry praising the FZ,s engine
                smoothness...how its vibe free....

Q : The engine is very smooth until i reach the 4200 rpm mark in any gear...then onwards it is pure vibes as in you feel the vibes in footpegs and on the fuel tank..maybe little bit in the handle bar too....Is it okay or something wrong with my engine???
By vibes i also mean the engine roughness or whatever you call it..

I have done 2nd servicing and 3400 odd kms on the ODO. I can understand
the vibes in lower gears but in higher gears too???
Or am i expecting too much from a Yamaha???

The speeds above which the engine fells rough and viby...
                1st gear - 12kmph
                2nd gear - 26kmph
                3rd gear - 37 kmph
                4th gear - 48 kmph
                5th gear - 57 kmph
All tha above speeds are at 4200 rpm in respective gears...
Above those speeds its PURE TORTURE riding the FZ....

The SVC guys say its normal...you get that kinda vibes in performance machines....but where the hell is the performance????
Dont know guys...but my heart feels that less mileage...less performance...more vibes....
All these things somehow do not add upto a FZ....

I would like to know what you guys mean when you say that FZ'z engine
is one of the smoothest(or smoothest) of the 150cc's...
I mean i dont wanna regret buying this beautiful masterpiece...
So please share your experince guys...cheers
                mine is 12k old...
I am used to the vibes... and i push my engine in them too... I feel more power delivery starting 40k rpm so i hardly drive below that. My bike gives an avg mileage of 38 and m heading for fifth service to mumbai next week (they are a crap at nasik)

My rear tyre has had 8 punctures all at different places as i ride through an industrial area and it is puncture sensitive and i tend to get offtrack sometimes

I have pushed it for 600+kms in daylight. and only 10% of what i have covered in total odo till date is in city.

The max speed i have acheived is 122 kmph on a slight down slope (highway was like that) but on flats its difficult to cross 111 mark and on slight uphill 98-100 is what i get.

now i have tuned my carb (thought it was pumping rich mix b4) and waiting for it to settle down b4 i get some results.

best riding speed is 55-60 ansolutely vibe free in this band. and i can not maintain any speed lower to this in fifth gear without frequently dropping the throttle coz as soon as i open it even slightly i reach that speed and if i drop the throttle it closes fully. I dunno what happens...

Also after a hard long highway ride my recommended mineral engine oil level also drops (but never below min mark) and the engine feels rough so i ve kept another refill bottle at my place.

And last ... my friend has an fz he treats it like a scooty and he gers 40-41 mileage and has done 2500 kms but it feels softer and quieter than mine but has the same punch and its newer too. I tried to figure out the problem but i guess there isn't any ... mine was always like that :P...

@ all guys questioning roughness and gearshift : read the manual and check the engine oil level yourself and maintain it near the max mark. There were a lot of guys confusing me over the oil level(even the SVC guys coz they might have to open a new bottel or some extra work, I dunno). But do not try to press the dipstick inside or screw it on while checking.

for gearshift hard people do one check place the bike on main-stand and start and press the clutch and shift into first. keep the clutch pressed and the rear tyre should rotate. try to stop it and it should still rotate with a reasonable speed. if that does not happen gears get stuck badly when you are on a standstill. and if its ok and you still can't shift properly then i can't help.

dude 40-41 is a good mileage for fz before 1st service..after ur first service the carburettor can be tuned to give better mileage, but it may reduce ur bikes performance.before 1st service i was getting 35-40..even 30 ...but now am getting 40-45.so better wait till ur first service is done.

bro carb should NOT be touched till either 5000 kms or 6 months,
it will reduce the engine life ,
as stock settings are set to flow Rich Mixture to New engine,
and if it don't get that mix, it result would be early worn out pistons..

I remember this point been discussed earlier,
and HYDBIKER gave a very good explanation for vibes,
i didn't remember exact but he said
"Every bike has arough patch, may be FZ's rough patch is @ 57 to 64 kmph range"

you may have noticed, after 64, all vibes become invisible,
and they occurs near 115+ speed,
and might be what we are assuming as Vibes, Is immanence "Torque", which produced in range of 5000 rpm to 6500 rpm (peak Torque point for FZ)

if they are irresistible, you can go to service station to get "Engine Mounting Screws" checked,
one of my friend got it done after feeling so many vibes, in all speeds..

bro i am doing nothing special for good mileage,
just upshifting gears @ 4000+ rpm range,
and DownShifting in 2500- Rpm range...
not to tell road which i use is NH7, and about 40 kms riding is @ highways, and 20 kms in City..
i used to rip bike till i reach my personal top Speed (read 127 kmph),
                    then steady 60 kmph,

                    • Bumping my question. Sorry guys, but had to do this

                      Hello FZ riders.

Can anyone recommend me any shop where I can get affordable + decent quality carry bags for my FZ in North, East or Central Delhi or Karol Bagh? Any kind of carry bag will do as long as they can withstand a weight of like 5kgs. Pics of bags you have will also help

Another thing, I also want to know a Yamaha SVC around the specified area which provides good or even satisfactory customer service. Oswal Autos at GT road just sucks

Cost range : Say, around Rs. 500-600 (I wonder if I can get anything for that price, but lets see)

I will try searching that topic as well.
