Even I thought that the sound may be from the tool box. So I removed it & then rode. The sound still persists. I went to svc where the mechanic rode my bike & admitted that there is some sound. He tested the mudguard & all other movable parts but was clueless. He then said that such sounds should be overlooked & is not a very big deal. I was very angry & decided to consult the head mechanic - Ujjwal da, but he had left the job a week earlier & presently theres no good mechanic here in Malda svc.

Since its a very new bike, the prossibility of the suspension bush going kaput is also very less. I am totally clueless & highly dissappointed!

EP 90 gear oil is ok. its inexpensive & is fairly good for the chain. But before applying it we must clean the chain with petrol/diesel.

    Dear Pinak,

AIS is the Air Induction System assy which keeps the engine constantly aired and thus keeps it cool. When we lower the rev, there is a backpressure created through this breathing system while the air returns from the engine and if the AIS has gone faulty or the breather hoses/pipes are blocked/damaged then there is this phat phat sound from the silencer. Even I had the same problem after 15k ride and initially suspected the Spark Plug (detonation), electrical lines, Fuel line, carb etc and spent a load for it but only to end in vain. Then finally I asked the SVC guys to replace the AIS and all was hunky-dory thereafter.
Also, regarding the khat khat sound, I cannot say anything for sure but asked any mechanic to check out the bolts in the swing arms which is used for tightening the chain (donno what it's exactly called) or the slackness in the chain. I had the same experience once and found that the SVC guys had not tightened the bolts in the swing arms completely and thus loose. Once I got them tightened, it was perfectly fine.

But your bike is relatively pretty new, there might be some other issue or it might be the faulty unit from the manufacturing unit itself. wont be a bad isea to check it once.

      Thanks a lot Chandra37.

I will surely ask the svc guys to check the AIS assembly now. & also the nut of the swingarm!!

Once again....thanks a ton! Now at least I have something to start with...

Kolkata is almost 350 km from here. In this scorching heat it wont be an easy job especially keeping in mind the condition of NH 34 & traffic jams at Kaliachowk & Farakka!!

But lets see.... if problem persists, I will definately arrange to ride to the city of Joy!!

as this is summer season, long rides could be pretty hard on the bike..
my question is that what precautions or considerations should be kept on long rides in such hot weather, so that the bike could perform in its maximum..
        i was planning a 180-200 km ride..

        Ride safe and have fun.

Well, not really. I did 360km ride without any issues. Proper oil, proper tyre pressure, proper chain lube, proper working of all the lights and electricals.

Keep all these in check and you will love riding in the sun.

          Cheerz!!

            Hi there,
Please check the chain slack, if it's too loose, the chain might be hitting the swing arm when u go over potholes at a slightly higher speeds causing the noise. Check if u experience this noise when u ride ur bike slowly over potholes??

Is this a problem or a characteristic .
              ( Fazer )
A vibrating sound coming from the speedo area . Starts at 20 kmph . goes on till forever . its somewhat similar to a window vibrating
NO matter how many Cars/Bikes/Trucks/animals . on the road , you must still rely on your ability :D

Hold the console and nearby parts and see if something is loose.
A single nut loose can do so

                    3) If you are planning to make it double horn then check with the SVC if cutting wires and fixing it will void warranty and insurance.. These buggers are really sneaky when it comes to taking the blame and giving out the claim. If they give a go ahead for you then i would recommend going for the Fazer dual horns.. they do the work just fine.
                    4) Don't add angel light rather if you want to make your lighting beam better then go for Osram/Halonix 60/55 watt halogen bulb which will make the illumination better. Max cost 100 bucks..

Again all these have been already discussed in detail in earlier posts..

                    Cheers,
Hey thanks for the info bro.. ll work on that.. I have got one more doubt.. during run in period, i maintained my speed at 45 kmph and 3500 RPM max.. I had to give for first service at 800+ kms as I completed one month by then.. Just before giving the bike for service, i mean on the way to service station i touched 85-90 kmph.. And my question is people say that the run in period should be 1000 kms.. Since i topped at 800+ kms it self, will this create any probs for the engine ?? am really worried.. Please let me know guys.. thanks..

There is no problem. What you did actually benefited your engine!!
If you have been riding at 45-50 speeds all this while, start opening her up. Else your engine will start clogging up with carbon deposits. Only way to clean them up normally.... start increasing your speed. There has been a lot of discussion on run-in on this thread.
Go back or search for them. You'll get lot of info.

                      Cheers!!

Surely! tomorrow I am planning to take my bike to svc. I will highlight all the points. However I have myself checked the chain slack. it appears ok & moreover there is a rubber padding like thing near the swingarm bolt where the chain actually touches the swingarm. This takes care of any dragging sound perhaps!

I also feel a particular vibe at 57kph. Not able to know what the vibes are about. But, nothing to worry, its normal. The bike will be more free once you cover kms and get it regularly serviced.

FZ/Fazer is known for this. I used to face it as well. Now its come down a lot. Dont worry this will go away sooner or later.

Just maintain your bike properly. Make sure you warm-up before you start riding etc and everything will be fine.

                              Cheers!!

From the speed range mentioned by you this kind of vibrations start in FZ/Fazers, it disppears once you go over around 70 kmph.
