Also there is no Motul 3000v. The mineral oil from Motul is called Motul 3000 4T Plus.

Can you confirm the exact oil you are interested in?

The Motul engine oils I know available in India are:
Motul 3000 4T plus (Mineral oil)
    Motul 5100 4T (Semi-synthetic oil)
    Motul 7100 4T (Fully-synthetic Single-ester oil)
    Motul 300v Factory Line (Fully-Synthetic Double-ester oil)

Fellow rider Shv18 has been using 300v series for quite some time. He can better advise on the drain interval. Since you have already completed 5k on your ODO you can opt for a FS oil.

    Cheers!!

I am not sure about the oil name. Based on the above comment i hope that i can buy either Motul 7100 4T (Fully-synthetic Single-ester oil) (or) Motul 300v Factory Line (Fully-Synthetic Double-ester oil) right?

    Thanks!

Yes. Both of the ones you selected are very good oils. Based on your riding style and budget (although both are expensive ) you can choose.
300v is especially good if you ride hard and/or in very hot conditions.

            Cheers!!

Guys i am thinking to service my bike myself i know its just simple stuff like filling engine oils, lubing chains etc... But i have few technical doubts:
              1) is there transmission oil for bikes(normally hero/hondas/ and yamaha ofcourse) or is it just engine oil is shared by both engine and gear box???
              2) i want to check the spark plug just to see if i am running super lean... because i feel that when i am riding....i get good mileage but i am worried about engine life. So, my question is when we remove spark plug from engine do i need to cover the existing spark plug hole with something because i have seen people just leave it that way until they clean the spark plug...i mean doesn't external environment damage the parts like dust???? or does engine oil saves the engine???
              3) This is about Motul oils.. what does Motul 15w50 mean??what is 15??what is 50???arghhhh!!! what happens if i don't put correct grade oil??? if i only use mineral oil does that damage engine??? what i am guessing is mineral oil should be used for low to medium hot running engine and should be changed at around every 3000km.is this correct??
4)I ride around 580km/month(max 23km/day... no rash driving, keeps things under control, exceeds to 75kmph twice everyday that's all). So FS or Mineral is better for me?? i dont want to unnecessarily spend too much money for engine oil(because i want a engine oil which suits my requirement) and also i don't wanna go cheap!
              5) is YamaLube mineral or FS??? please compare it with Motul brand??i heard its crap!!! no wonder my engine gets warm after riding for 12 kms(i can feel it from few 3-4 feet)

i know few of these are basics but i dont have any one else to ask?? Maybe this will help people in future!!

Hi indianhits, please find the answers to your queries as below -
                  1) It's just engine oil which is shared by both engine and gear box (clutch assembly).
                  2) You do not need to cover the existing spark plug hole with something, engine oil will take care of it.
                  3) 15w50 is nothing but the measurement of the oil viscosity (for details please follow the link - Viscosity - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
                  4) It depends on how much kms you have clocked on your steed, however mineral oil is better for the run-in period and fully synthetic engine oils are only recomended after 5000 kms for our kind of bikes (which is neither superspots nor higher ccs)
                  5) Yamalube which the service centre people pour from a big container is mineral as for the comparison between Motul and Yamalube, just search the topic in Google and you will get the informations you're looking for, however here is just a link for your reference Difference between Motul 5100T 15w50 vs YamaLube 15w50 Semi Synthetic engine oil | Nex Gen Bikes

Hope it will solve some of your queries, more seniors are there in this forum and they all are really very helpful in every way, so just wait for their replies, which will be in much more detail.
Have a same and happy biking

Sorry to ask, since you have removed the visor of your FZ-S, then why you didn't you bought FZ insted in the first place, it could have saved you some bucks. As for the looks, it's not looking any bad either, and you sure have a great color combo. Hope you're enjoying you ride

Hey, how many kms have your bike has done..?
if its still in warranty period, better get the service done at SVC, or your warranty would be void..
                    as for the queries..
                    1) the engine oil works for both the engine and the transmission in our bikes..
                    2) unless there is a sand storm in the area, its ok to leave it like that. Still if you are worried, better keep a piece of clean cloth on the hole..
                    3) since you are not into high revs and high speeds, mineral would be ok for you.. Or if you want to change, get Semi synthetic, its better than mineral but cheaper than FS.
As for the 15w50 thing, check the engine oil thread, there on the first page its explained, or check the link that the other rider has given mineral oil should be changed between 2500-3000 kms or 70 days..
                    4) FS is more useful for bikes which operate in very high temp and high acceleration. A daily commuter would be ok with mineral also, or go for SS.
motul is a good brand, many rider here are using it for a long time. Opt for it without any worry.. Its surely is better than yamalube,.
                    5) yamalube which they put in fz is mineral, and the one they use in r15 is SS, i dont think they have FS yamalube.. Its not totally crap, engine needs to get warmed up.. Every engine, be it on mineral or FS, would get warm. Or if you are facing any abnornal heating, take to a mechanic, or check yourself the air filter.. Lack of air also teand to make the engine extremely hot..

                    i hope this might help..

                    • Bike Shutting off

                      Hai All

On Sunday I gave a pressure wash to my FZ-S at a local mechanic shop. After drying, I started the bike but was not starting. So I cleaned the spark plug cover and tried to start and it came to life. But in the process I tried a few times before cleaning the spark plug cover. But to vain. I normally don't use the choke in my daily run. This time I used the choke which was tight as expected since I have not used it for quite some time. After starting I have returned the choke to its original position. Now I am facing a peculiar problem. When the bike is running at high RPM there is no problem. But when I cruise in heavy traffic speed. The engine dies and refuses to start. But when I close the fuel knob and wait for some time and then crank the engine it starts. What could be the problem is it the choke or water in the carb/tank. Please advise.

                      Cheers

                      Mathews

                        Hi Koushik,

Yeah true i love FZ more than FZ - S.. But this FZ(S) series is just then released when i bought it.. One thing is that the dealers whom i contacted said that FZ16 would take time but FZ - S is ready to be delivered, but i need the bike immediately since i have just then moved to Bangalore.. one more thing is that i liked the dual color of the mud guard, stickering and the side design.. so had to go for FZ - S.. FZ - S is also equally good but just that the visor i dint like much.. And yeah i love the ride on this muscle, i will just be waiting to her on a ride every time.. Thanks for the comments

No, man I personally don't like FZ S without the Shield. I am also planning to install a bigger shield in the place to prevent wind blast. But your crash guard looks nice, where did you get it.

Sorry if I hurt your feelings in any way, and truly said, it's sure a muscle to ride. The color combo you've chosen is sure a head turner. Without the visor, it's still an attention grabber, so don't worry about the looks, just enjoy your ride

Complete the free services at Yamaha SVC too keep your warranty. If you dont get it serviced at the said interval and if you face any issues with the bike, the SVC will simply put their hands up and say "you dont get it serviced, we cannot help you". The servicing is not just engine oil change and other stuff, it includes oil filter change, washing, checking for any loose bilts or so, checking for play in clutch wire and accelerator wire, oiling of some parts and much more. The DIY servicing can be done once you have completed the free services. Coming to queries:

                              1) Engine oil serves for both, engine also and transmission also.

                              2) Just to be on the safer side, cover the opening of spark plug to avoid entry of contamination.

                              3) The numbers in engine oil are the viscometrics for the oil. The oil recommendation by the bike manufacturer is there, since the engine has been built keeping in mind the oil. Higher the number, higher will be the viscosity of the oil. Normal time to change mineral oil is 1500-2000kms, semi synthetic us 2000-2500, full syth is 2500-3000. If you done cover these many kms, change the oil within 70-80 days intervals.

                              4) The best bet will be Semi synth oil. As you cover kms, switch to full synth or you can continue with semi synth.

                              5) 20W50 of Yamalube is Semi synth and 15W50 is full synth. 20W50 is for FZ, thats how SVC guys are trained. Yamalube is crappy. I personally dont like it. As you have mentioned, the engine does heat up and you can feel the same. The gear shifts become hard after certain kms

                              Hope this helps

The real beauty lies in throttle's twist!!
