Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Same as the queries above. Use WD-40. Excellent water repellent and rust remover. A must have for rainy season. Spray it liberally in the keyhole slot and anywhere you see rust forming. Will loosen them up.Originally posted by bikashnayak View PostAs I observe in this raining season My FZS Ignition key is been lil bit jammed... Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
First Service done .
Vibes from the speedo / fairing ( fazer ) not looked into @ the service center . went to a closer " yamaha " service center .. they asked me to pay 350 to check the headlight assembly or in his words " Get it done where you got your bike from " .
Engine is heating up tooo quick ( 520 kms done ) barely after a 15-20 min ride in rain yesterday my engine was ( to make it sound epic ) Vaporizing water in an instant . awful lot of steam . Is it normal ?
[Funny Smell too - burny ]
I am one anxiety blessed beep beep :P I want to get my bike Checked for any faults / defects in the engine . Can I get that done ? like an inspection service ?NO matter how many Cars/Bikes/Trucks/animals . on the road , you must still rely on your ability :D

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Bike is relatively new, parts are still getting set in, so friction will be more hence a higher operating temperature. Nothing abnormal about it.Originally posted by Gaurav2595 View PostFirst Service done .

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Hi blokes. From a month now, I feel a kind of vibration from my fz handle.uhhhh not vibes actually but i'd say a kind of shake at the handle bar on my fz. As usual, the svc guys say thats normal. but i feel something went wrong. May be a prob with front suspension, stem etc etc. Any guesses of a possible cause? And btw, it gives a "khat-khat" sound almost everytime when i press the handle a little hard.

If the SVC is not attending to your query. Shoot a mail to Yamaha India with the SVC name and the manager out there.Originally posted by Gaurav2595 View PostFirst Service done .

As mentioned, since the bike is new, it will take time for parts to fit into correct tolerances. Also, since its rainy season, the ambient temperature is less as compared to engine temperature and this will make you feel the heat. Nothing to worry about.

Water evaporates when its touches the hot engine surface.. Its only that.. Nothing to worry..Originally posted by Gaurav2595 View PostThanks , theres one more thing .. riding in rains .. iv noticed smoke white steamy smoke coming from engine lower part .its so much it makes way thru the suspension part where theres gap for air . is this normal ?

The water might be touching the exhaust pipe or might be touching the engine. You have a hot ride with youOriginally posted by Gaurav2595 View PostThanks , theres one more thing .. riding in rains .. iv noticed smoke white steamy smoke coming from engine lower part .its so much it makes way thru the suspension part where theres gap for air . is this normal ?
Nothing to worry. It does happen when water touches the hot surface.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Why do you want to touch the engine? Any engine heats up on operation. Which oil are you using? How many kms have you done on odo?Originally posted by sivaram View PostAlso my fz's engine is overheating like anything. It gets so hot to touch with bare hands even after riding sanely for 3 minutes. Any possible issues? oil changed 1 month ago and i've run 700kms on it.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Engine will heat up. Thats how engines are build and heating will happen to help reach the operating temperature. Also, owing to the rainy season, the ambient temerature is less as compared to engine temperature. I have been using the current oil since summer and have noticed engine heat to some extent, as.compared to noticing the same in summers. Nothing to be worried about.Originally posted by sivaram View PostI can feel the heat without even touching. Evening i unexpectedly touched the engine side and it was like a hot iron box. That was after riding just 2 kms
Im using the traditional yamalube and 7200kms on ODO

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
New engines especially the one we have, does heat up a lot. After 10,000 kms it tends to ease out. No worries.Originally posted by sivaram View PostI can feel the heat without even touching. Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
No one ever should do that! You will end up damaging the spark plug.Originally posted by SpeedyKol View PostMade a terrible mistake, but thankfully nothing happened. It had been 9000kms since the spark plug had been cleaned/taken out.SVC guys never bothered to do that and even I had forgotten. Was expecting adverse effect on the plug, but checked the gap and used bit of sandpaper scrubbing.
Use the oil dipstick to put little oil around the key hole.Originally posted by bikashnayak View PostAs I observe in this raining season My FZS Ignition key is been lil bit jammed...
