    • My new fz16 having an issues, while riding the bike through bad roads or hump. I heard a sound from the backup side.
I have tried to find out the exact reason, but still no luck. If the co-rider is there, the sound will be more. The bike clocked 600km.
      Anyone please help me.

        Hi Subhradeep,
The powder coating & painting was related to Joel's FFE. I no longer use the stock exhaust.

I had been using HID on dual beam for both low and high beams, didn't have any problems. But my friend who fitted the Projector setup simply refused to put dual beam setup, saying that it will be too much load for the battery. Missing the intensity of the HIDs with only one projector on low beam. currently the setup is similar to R15...one beam on low,two on high.Kindly suggest!
        Hi,
Shiv & Luke has already responded to your query, I'm just sharing my experience. I was also in dilemma when I was planning to use Hella's Micro DE & FF200 auxiliary lamps. Had some discussion with the experts in the light thread, finally decided to go ahead without any alteration to stator coil.
FF200 have 55w halogen bulbs. I used them during one of the trip without switching on the headlamp. I didn't face any issue with the lights or battery. Same result with Micro DE fog lamps.
It will depend on the quality of the HIDs your using.
Don't go for stator coil rewinding or replacement, it will void the warranty. Still if you are planning to go for replacement post a query in the lighting thread, regarding the changes that you will need to make apart from stator replacement. I ride Fz-S with HID & during city riding one HID is sufficient since most of the roads are well lit. Why you need both lights on? Need based you can switch to high beam for both. Also when riding on city roads, it is not a good idea to ride with both the HIDs on since there will be too much glare for the oncoming traffic & most of the time the oncoming traffic will flash you. Most of the guys I have seen here, have one HID on, or else they ride with angle eyes on.
        Regards,
        Abhijit

In city riding, where we are surrounded by neon lights, brightly lit shops, plus the urban lighting, it is effectively useless to have two HID lights on....even useless to have would it be only one! Fitting HID projectors goes nearly all the time together with fitting angel (or devil!) eyes, and on my bike I even have a LED strip running along the lower edge of the lights, giving a real "personality: to the bike. That is ample enough for city riding.....but is even the "Lord of the streets" (what a BS!) designed for city riding ONLY?

Effectively, when it comes to road riding at night, one never has too much light! The difference, as I had mentioned, between one and two projectors in low beam (and high just the same) is HUGE! With both projectors on in low beam, I have a wide, white, very bright illumination to up to some fifty meters ahead of me. With one only, I have a sort of half good and half dim light, something ridiculous compared to both lights on. Having one light on in low beam and both in high beam makes little sense to me since one is mostly on low beam, facing well lit oncoming traffic, which is where one needs to have a very good low beam lighting too, unless very little traffic of course.

One thing to mention: in India, your Fazers and R15 come ex-stock with one light on at a time (two in high only on R15, apparently). Those for export come out with both lights on all the time. They are also delivered without battery (which is a safety hazard during transportation), a local one being fitted on by the distributor. On my Fazer, it is a top quality gel battery, and I have not experienced any problem with it, apart from having left it loose its charge by to much city riding with HIDs uselessly on while I should have been with angel eyes only.

So, what is my conclusion (others can differ):
          - Both lights should be on , whether in high and low beam and this, actually, whether on stock halogens or on HID projectors.
          - In brightly lit city, those who have angel eyes should content with that. Parking lights only, in the other hand, do not really suffice.
          - Contrary to what shw18 said, there is no need to recoil (plus change regulator, plus perhaps some wires...) for fitting two 35 W HID lights on a Fazer. The alternator is more than enough able to cope with them, at the condition to maintain high enough revs. Something like never below 4.k/ 4.5 k. rpm., seems all right. Those who like to ride in fifth at 40 kmh not only damage their engine but may discharge their battery and have their HID flickering, which is most damageable to the lights and to the ballast, and ultimately shutting off.
          - Fitting a higher capacity battery will only postpone this flickering/ switching off if one does not ride at high enough revs to keep (whatever) battery at it's nominal 12 Volts.

A last comment about HID lights: contrary to what Abhijitkn said, there is NO glare....provided HID are fitted in projectors! It is certainly illegal in India, just like elsewhere, to have HID bulbs simply fitted inside optics that were designed for other bulbs. The top of the lighting when on low beam with projectors is a perfectly crisp, clear cut line. One can face such lights just centimeters above this line and not be bothered at all (a few centimeters below, then: what a blast!).

Time to stop some legends, and specially those based on improper use of the bike or on improper installations!
When I do something stupid, my consolation is to know that I'll do the worse one only once!

Wash your bike first n dry the parts where you want to polish.
Buy a wax polish (rs 85) . Put in on a soft cloth n apply it on the parts evenly.
When you apply on the painted surface, let it become dry (til it looks like as if yout paint has faded )
After that wipe the surfaces with a soft cloth.

            N there you are!!!

one more doubt dude.......u said we shld apply it using a cloth...u sure???? will it be effective or should we apply it using our hand? another thing...after applying we should just wipe it off using a cloth.....not by water...rite???

              • a small doubt guys....past few days i was experiencing engine roughness and bikes sound was not smooth after i ride it for some time......i checked my engine oil level and found it to be touching minimal level line......manual says i shld be warming up the bike for smtime and then check.....i dint do that but i had kept the bike on levelled surface for a long time nd checked....so no problem in that......the question is if the oil level goes down then should i top it up or go to svc to change it???

                • How many kms on the ODO since the last service Vimal? If you are touching close to 2k and the engine oil has gone down then top it up. I would not like to get into a debate about mixing it with some other grade and stuff but my personal recommendation would be topping it up with the same brand and grade of engine oil. You don't have to go to a SVC for such a simple DIY

                  Cheers,

Get the chain slack checked at the svc.a loose chain makes noises over bumps.or a normally adjustef chain can also make the sound

I advise you not to go till 2k with the current mineral oil. Please change it somewhere between 1500-1700 kms. Treat your babe with best and she will treat you back. I don't want any one to argue on this because this is completely my personal advice.

as far as i am aware of changes the settings of the suspension will not increase or decrease the ride height but rather the nature of the suspension working.. softer settings will lead to comfortable yet lesser grip rear.. stiffer suspension will lead to bumpy but very grippy rear.. the rebound rate will be higher though.. so my personal protocol is not to mess around with the stock settings..

Regarding losing pressure well you can try using Slime which Iceman331 had used on his rear tire and found that all the leaks had been plugged. Though i cannot comment on the same. For more info please check out this post: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/motorcyc...16-a-1601.html

                            @All
: After a chat with abhimanyu31 i am more than convinced that the stock FZ brakes can handle a lot of abuse and if we do lose the edge it is not because of the brakes but rather our wrong anticipation of when to apply brakes... I was a bit concerned about the affect to the braking performance once i install the RC BB kits which theoretically will give a bump of 4-6 bhp.. so the acceleration figures will also be lightning fast!! abhimanyu31 suggested that instead of going crazy on installing rear disc brakes and wasting tons of money it was better that i should shift to Steel braided brake lines.

Now Noobs, this might have been already discussed on this thread many eons ago but just for the benefit of the newbies; The stock rubber brake lines of FZ when one engages a lot of braking, over a period of time the rubber expands and contracts which lets miniscule amount of air to come inside the brake lines thus forming micro pockets of air bubble. It thus slowly starts reducing the performance of the front brakes and rear brakes if the ride has both discs on the front and the rear tire.

                            SOLUTION??
Steel braided brake lines. If one notices, the current Pulsar 200NS, Duke 200 and a lot of other rides are now slowly coming factory fitted with steel braided lines which allows aggressive yet efficient braking allowing better stopping power.HEL performance has been one of the front runners providing steel braided brake lines since ages.. so i have decided to take a plunge and experience the power of steel braided lines without the need to change the stock brakes.

If one may recollect, i am still on stock brake pads and they still have a lifeof near about 5-6000 kms left. My ODO reading is around 24k+ kms... I am indeed impressed with the lifespan i have got on the stock brake pads but now will update you all about the overall increase in power and also the difference in braking once i get the HEL performance steel braided Brake line for the front disc brake.

For more on performance tuning: keep a track of Powerhouse FZ18 thread on Pit stop and General Biking discussion. I am keeping it a separate topic in order to maintain this thread clean

Pls let us know the price and performance once you get the steel braided lines...may be of HEL or from pulsar/Duke...

First of all, I want to change the stock horn. Which horn should I buy ?? And where should i get it done??
I'm also looking forward to adjust the suspension. Trying to make it more soft. Will it lower/increase the height. Can i do it myself?? or should i go the service centre..

@ilovemybike: Dear, even I was not satisfied with my stock horn in my FZ and after a lots of research, finally settled and installed Pulsar's twin horns (brand: Minda dual tone) costing 340.00 only...This is not that loud as the Roots/Bosch nor that low like the stock..a pleasant sound and consuming less battery than others...You can try these also...But, to get different sound pattens, you need to install another changer kit, which I personally don't like...We have discussed this @ http://www.facebook.com/groups/fz16r...al_comments=18
