As the the pillion seat design is changed for the new ones, most of the aftermarket seat covers won't fit it, because most of the aftermarket FZ/Fazer seat covers are still of the old seat design.
    Thank you
I live in sri lanka so the authorized dealer says that they haven't seat covers :-(
    Can i buy them online?

I am just thinking about writing a strongly worded email to Yamaha customer care, just have to figure to out what documents to be attached with the email. I really dont want to go to a SVC and return back without getting the issue fixed anymore

      • Installed projectors...

Hi everybody..I installed 2 35w projectors on my ride. But is it safe to switch to both beams on low beam and keep them running below 4000rpm? Is it going to affect the longevity of the stock 5 Amp battery or the electrical circuit? I had been using HID on dual beam for both low and high beams, didn't have any problems. But my friend who fitted the Projector setup simply refused to put dual beam setup, saying that it will be too much load for the battery. Missing the intensity of the HIDs with only one projector on low beam. currently the setup is similar to R15...one beam on low,two on high.Kindly suggest!

You will need stator coil mod to run both HIDs on high beams as the stock output from the alternator is not enough to take the load of both HIDs. I believe R&D Motovil provides stator coil mods for higher power output although i cannot comment about the reliability of the same.

          Cheers,

If you were getting mirco air pockets in your brake line then you will also be squeezing the brake fluid out through these holes, coating your brake lines in seeped fluid. Very dangerous safety issue.

What happens is like you wrote, The actual brake hose will expand, So some of the braking pressure, instead of pressing against the piston on the caliper, will be used to inflate the brake line.

Steel braided brake lines are usually a steel braid sleeve, a teflon inner liner and a rubber hose.
The downside to this is that the teflon can wear quicker compared to a stock rubber brake hose.
Steel braid can still inflate/swell/expand but not to the extent as the stock hose.

You can see the swelling effect if you squeeze the brake lever while the bike is up on its stand.

If you want to totally eliminate the swelling effect then you will need to hardline the brakes. Using steel tubing.

If you want better bite from your brakes, simple remove the pads, rub them on a flat abrasive surface and remove the glaze then re install them, you will find your "bite" has been restored.
            THanks for the correction Mik..

Its is a complete diy if you have interest bro

Wash your bike first n dry the parts where you want to polish.
Buy a wax polish (rs 85) . Put in on a soft cloth n apply it on the parts evenly.
When you apply on the painted surface, let it become dry (til it looks like as if yout paint has faded )
After that wipe the surfaces with a soft cloth.

                N there you are!!!

                A brand new bike
I do it once a week

Sorry mate, but it is. At 5,000 rpm, this alternator delivers 125 watts under 14 Volts. Even with ignition + brake light+ rear light+ flashers, etc....there is still plenty.
Then, of course, if one idles all the time at 2 to 3 k rpm, with twin HIDs on, he will drain his battery in no time, as this will easily be the case in city riding, but if riding on the road at never less than 5 k rpm, one can just keep going as long as he wishes with both lights on....and it makes a hell of a lot of difference. One single light (I tried hiding one), is absolutely miserable compared to the wide, bright lighting that two give, whether on high or low beam.

I have got this setup on my Fazer, and only once got problems: this was after having left my bike for a month as I was overseas, and taking it out for a city night ride, keeping (stupidly!) my headlights on while stopped at traffic lights or in congested traffic. Then, my lights started flickering as the voltage had dropped and was insufficient to ignite the HID lights. Such flickering is extremely damageable to these lights. I then just switched them off (the angel eyes being far enough in the brightly illuminated city), and rode in rather high revs for some five minutes....and that was it: the battery had been charged up and was back with it's nominal voltage, I could have my (both) HIDs on when bright light was needed, and no more flickering. On the highway back home it got even more charge.

Since that, I simply switch off my headlights when stopped at traffic lights or other reasons, and balance my night and day rides to keep the battery at 12 volts ... and that flickering has never happened to me again.

When I do something stupid, my consolation is to know that I'll do the worse one only once!

as far as i am aware of changes the settings of the suspension will not increase or decrease the ride height but rather the nature of the suspension working.. softer settings will lead to comfortable yet lesser grip rear.. stiffer suspension will lead to bumpy but very grippy rear.. the rebound rate will be higher though.. so my personal protocol is not to mess around with the stock settings..

Regarding losing pressure well you can try using Slime which Iceman331 had used on his rear tire and found that all the leaks had been plugged. Though i cannot comment on the same. For more info please check out this post: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/motorcyc...16-a-1601.html

Thanks for the replies. Will the fazer dual horn sound good?? Is the Pulsar 220 horn directly compatible??What about air horns??

                    • Rear brake gone kaput

Guys, just did my servicing of the bike and informed the technician to check my rear brakes, as the efficiency of the brake was not upto the mark.

on checking the spring tension, he said the liners have gone. I was like "how come so early??" To which he said "liners to 1000, 2000 kabhi b chala jata hai, ap kaise chalate ho uspe hai sab".

My bike has done 5840kms (bought it in Feb - 12).

Can the liner go kaput so early??
The real beauty lies in throttle's twist!!

Headlight can be replaced, Head cannot be. Wear a helmet.

As per the feedback from my set of Fazer riders with 35 watt and 55 watt HIDs on both lamps have had battery and flickering issues within 2 months from using both HIDs. This becomes more apparent if one uses 55 watt HIDs on Fazers. Not sure about your case though. Thus the ideal recommendation to get rid of this problem is higher wattage output from the stator coil mod.

All the riding was done in city premises majority of which was stop and go traffic.

yes the fazer's dual horns sound give out a decent but loud tone, enough for the traffic conditions in our city.i am using them for over an year now.and don't go for any air horns as they will kill the battery.
                          don't know about the pulsar's.

                            Hi,

Most likely you had kept your foot on the rear brake pedal/lever which kept the brake engaged lightly throughout the 5.4k of ownership of your ride. So it is possible for the brake pads to wear out. It is a common rookie mistake i have seen been followed or done by a lot of riders unknowingly. I presume you have replaced the brake pads with fresh ones. Ensure that you get the lever adjusted according to you preference and consciously make an effort not to put your foot on the brake pedal and rest on it.

                            Cheers,
