I am aware of the noise from the exhaust but this one is from the engine itself

In catalytic converter, by chemical reaction carbon monoxide & other gases in the emission are converted into carbon dioxide & water vapor. It's replacement is costly & I'm not sure the one which we have can be replaced. And it weighs
Hi,Originally posted by ramedathundil View PostHi guys
My new fz16 clocked around 450Km now. I am planning to change the engine oil. Today, I have purchased the engine oil from the authorize service center near by. They have provided me a 1l YAMALube, but when I checked the manual the I can see that the oil capacity is 1.2l. I am confused now, please help me
Check the manual again (page 6-9). It has clearly mentioned, when you need 1L & 1.2L of oil.Last edited by abhijitkn; 12-14-2012, 12:30 PM.

Yes, there are cool mesh seat covers from yamaha(costs around 1200 rs). And other normal seat cover from yamaha (costs around 500 rs).You will get these from the svc cntre. Don't go for the aftermarket seat covers if your bike is of new 2012 edition. As the the pillion seat design is changed for the new ones, most of the aftermarket seat covers won't fit it, because most of the aftermarket FZ/Fazer seat covers are still of the old seat design.Originally posted by Chathuranga Rajapaksha View PostIs there any seat covers for fz16.

Hello abhijit, thanks for the clarification. But I still didn't get the cons clearly. What I really got from your post is ."donot remove the catcon because its harmful for the environment", (which I haven't done) and "donot fiddle with stock parts", (which we all know but we happen to do every now and then just because stock parts or systems are not satisfctory enough). So, Could u pls list it in points?? And would love to have Joel's ffe but m just too far away to get one now.

Just a suggestion: get them to check the starter clutch.Originally posted by Mizt View PostMetal striking noise seems to come when idling or it might be like I cant hear them while riding them in the gushing wind with helmet on. When I do something stupid, my consolation is to know that I'll do the worse one only once!

Hi guys... I have been riding the bike since last two years.I'm very happy with it.
But now I'm thinking of doing some modifications.
First of all, I want to change the stock horn. Which horn should I buy ?? And where should i get it done??
I'm also looking forward to adjust the suspension. Trying to make it more soft. Will it lower/increase the height. Can i do it myself?? or should i go the service centre..
I have many leak punctures in my rear tyre. I lose about 20 psi every two days.I there a possibilty to seal it??
I'm not a regular at these forums. I'm sorry if these questions may have been asked before. Thanks in advance.

HEL Performance Steel Braided Brake Lines for Front Disc Brake

as far as i am aware of changes the settings of the suspension will not increase or decrease the ride height but rather the nature of the suspension working.. softer settings will lead to comfortable yet lesser grip rear.. stiffer suspension will lead to bumpy but very grippy rear.. the rebound rate will be higher though.. so my personal protocol is not to mess around with the stock settings..
Regarding losing pressure well you can try using Slime which Iceman331 had used on his rear tire and found that all the leaks had been plugged. Though i cannot comment on the same. For more info please check out this post: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/motorcyc...16-a-1601.html
@All: After a chat with abhimanyu31 i am more than convinced that the stock FZ brakes can handle a lot of abuse and if we do lose the edge it is not because of the brakes but rather our wrong anticipation of when to apply brakes... I was a bit concerned about the affect to the braking performance once i install the RC BB kits which theoretically will give a bump of 4-6 bhp.. so the acceleration figures will also be lightning fast!! abhimanyu31 suggested that instead of going crazy on installing rear disc brakes and wasting tons of money it was better that i should shift to Steel braided brake lines.
Now Noobs, this might have been already discussed on this thread many eons ago but just for the benefit of the newbies; The stock rubber brake lines of FZ when one engages a lot of braking, over a period of time the rubber expands and contracts which lets miniscule amount of air to come inside the brake lines thus forming micro pockets of air bubble. It thus slowly starts reducing the performance of the front brakes and rear brakes if the ride has both discs on the front and the rear tire.
SOLUTION?? Steel braided brake lines. If one notices, the current Pulsar 200NS, Duke 200 and a lot of other rides are now slowly coming factory fitted with steel braided lines which allows aggressive yet efficient braking allowing better stopping power.HEL performance has been one of the front runners providing steel braided brake lines since ages.. so i have decided to take a plunge and experience the power of steel braided lines without the need to change the stock brakes.

If one may recollect, i am still on stock brake pads and they still have a lifeof near about 5-6000 kms left. My ODO reading is around 24k+ kms... I am indeed impressed with the lifespan i have got on the stock brake pads but now will update you all about the overall increase in power and also the difference in braking once i get the HEL performance steel braided Brake line for the front disc brake.
For more on performance tuning: keep a track of Powerhouse FZ18 thread on Pit stop and General Biking discussion. I am keeping it a separate topic in order to maintain this thread clean

Hi Abhijitkn,Originally posted by abhijitkn View Post
If you don't like the chome in the exhaust, instead of painting it,u can do another alternative thing, the current FZS(not of the FZ16/Fazer) are coming with black matt finish exhaust for the whole portion of the exhaust, you can change your stock silver coloured one with this(costs around 250 rs).

I just took it to a mechanic friend , he says there seems to a big problem with the engine and better to inform Yamaha officials to claim warranty as the engine work would cost around 10k. I really have tight schedule till Jan and my warranty expires on this feb. I really need to get things sorted out before my warrant expires please help me out guys.
My bike is 18.5k on the ODO and 1year and 10 months old - can I still get things fixed under warranty?

for the horn query, you can just install another horn so it becomes a double horn just like the fazer.cost is around rs 150 and it is a complete do-it-yourself job or can be done by any mechanic. But you will have to remove the air scoop for that.Originally posted by ilovemybike View PostHi guys... my mechanic said there is absolutely no problem.(but these are the same dumb guys).are you suffering any loss in performance?my warranty also goes off in feb(1st feb).in that case i'll have the big bore kit for sure.Originally posted by Mizt View PostI just took it to a mechanic friend , he says there seems to a big problem with the engine and better to inform Yamaha officials to claim warranty as the engine work would cost around 10k. Never ever heard about this.Originally posted by shv18 View PostThe stock rubber brake lines of FZ when one engages a lot of braking, over a period of time the rubber expands and contracts which lets miniscule amount of air to come inside the brake lines thus forming micro pockets of air bubble.
If you were getting mirco air pockets in your brake line then you will also be squeezing the brake fluid out through these holes, coating your brake lines in seeped fluid. Very dangerous safety issue.
What happens is like you wrote, The actual brake hose will expand, So some of the braking pressure, instead of pressing against the piston on the caliper, will be used to inflate the brake line.
Steel braided brake lines are usually a steel braid sleeve, a teflon inner liner and a rubber hose.
The downside to this is that the teflon can wear quicker compared to a stock rubber brake hose.
Steel braid can still inflate/swell/expand but not to the extent as the stock hose.
You can see the swelling effect if you squeeze the brake lever while the bike is up on its stand.
If you want to totally eliminate the swelling effect then you will need to hardline the brakes. Using steel tubing.
If you want better bite from your brakes, simple remove the pads, rub them on a flat abrasive surface and remove the glaze then re install them, you will find your "bite" has been restored.2013 Ducati M795 with a few mods in here http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/superbik...95-owners.html
