Maybe I should rephrase my question. Is the tightening torque of a bolt as a big a deal as the manual makes to be? If it is, then I cannot open/unscrew almost all of my bike?

The headlights... well, I tried that. What you told is exactly what is said in a few posts in this thread. I did that and pushed the headlights assembly to lowest point. But, I still feel it's too high. Eg. I can see far off objects (15-20 feet away from me) easily, but today I moved onto the right lane and at the last moment I saw a 'khadda' in front of me. I feel I would've seen that in time had my headlights been a little lower.
Just google search box spanners and T spanners and you will know the difference. T spanners have to be brought with different sizes but you can change sizes in box spanners setup by buying boxes of different size. Both are effective than monkey type. No need to worry about tightening small nuts and bolts according to the torque specification. I also wonder if svc guys use wrenches for tightening bolts for front and rear tyres and engine drain bolt. I have seen with my own eyes these guys using simple ring spanner for tightening engine drain bolt. So you don't need to worry unless you tight it very much. Don't use extra pressure while tightening simple bolts when you do simply DIY things like engine oil changing and chain lubricating etc.

About headlight if you are talking about high beam then don't expect much from Fz-16. It's already debated matter. If you want perfect light then you need to do light modding.

    Cheers

If you can back track to the point where i had posted many many pages ago, i had shifted to Motul 300V FS oil, there i had mentioned about the existence of the same. Although i don't remember if i had clicked the picture of the 300V SS oil product and posted it here. So let me do one thing to rest this once and for all... once, i hit Mumbai, i am due for an oil change anyways, if the dealer still has the stock of the 300V single ester, i shall click a pic and post it here. I hope that should end this speculation.

A lot of new products and old products are not mentioned on the website so i guess they are kinda slow in updating it or may be the they have phased out the stock.

      Cheers,
Yeah it also confused me and few of guys who are my friends on facebook. One of my friends was saying that Shv is spreading wrong information on xbhp and he was bit serious. I told him that he might have mistakenly written but this matter is running hot here.

      • Hi,
Confirmed with the Motul dealer. No 300v SS, only FS.
May be the dealer Shiv referring to, has misquoted.

This is a public forum, so sharing wrong information happens all the time, check other forums as well.
But rather than being silent it is always better to correct it, if you know. Information shared on Xbhp, what is the use of discussing it on facebook, if you think it is wrong, then correct it here.

        • Guys, can I clean the air filter at my home ? If yes, then HOW & what should I take care of ? Please elaborate the process in detail as I had never opened up the air filter by myself.

          • ^ Hi Abhisek,

Check manual, page 6-10. Self explanatory.
A word of caution, sometimes the bolts on filter cover may be too tight, don't try to open them forcefully otherwise you will damage the bolt head. Use any good penetranting sprays available on seized bolts.

              Not contesting with anyone mate.

              @ All
: please don't think it otherwise. I am always more than happy if i am corrected.

I remember it very clearly, Motul 300V 15W 50 Factory line 4t single ester and double ester. Single ester was INR 550/- and Double ester at that point of time was INR 860/- . The same product i had seen at Autocar Show at BKC, Mumbai at a Motul stall in 2011 and may be i have posted something on this thread.

Thanks for the kind words Abhijit but i would still like to verify before posting anymore on this topic so guys kindly give me sometime. I usually don't contest on such topic unless i was so much certain. If the dealer still has the stock then i shall click a pic and confirm it. All in all if it is true that there is no such oil then you all will actually help me in catching a lemon!!

              All in good faith,

              Cheers,

                      • Bike and Engine I just scrub with a soft bristled banister brush (the dustpan and short handled brush) Make sure theres lots of soap suds.
3M brand tyre shine (only one I've found available in Vietnam) on the tyres and black plastics after washing with car wash shampoo, dry with chamois.
Motul chain lube on the chain.
Start it up after and let it idle (and a couple fistfulls of throttle to clear any water out the exh pipe) for a few minutes to dry the water off the engine and exhaust.
A little spin of the rear wheel on the tiled floor to help "dry" it off and its good.

I ve tried using shampoo water n all to clean the engine, bt though the water penetrates inside the engine part, it doesnt remove d dust and dirt inside..
I use a screw driver, cover it wid a cloth n try tto penetrate inside those horizontal openings, bt stil it wont clean.
Aft it dries one can clearly see d dust n some dirt there.
So water n all stuff is a waste fa me

Sorry mate, but I would be extremely surprised that Motul has or ever had put on the market two oils of different formula with the same name....and personally, I have always know 300 V as a diester.

Anyway, guys: I am not, personally, really capable to discern between a fully synthetic and a half synthetic (= mix of petroleum based oil with entirely man made oil = synthetic oil, whatever it originates from), and moreover between a single ester and a diester oil, and I very much doubt that many here can either. Not to mention whether these esters originate from corn, bananas, or potatoes!

The oil modern chemistry is extremely complex and very much of a mystery, and one chooses his oil depending on price, reputation of the maker, mouth to ear information, dealers blah blah, and even packaging! All what we, poor ignorant people (like me, I mean) can do is chose what seems, through various sources of information, what seems to us most suitable for our bikes, and it can then becomes pretty straight forward. Sticking to Motul:

                            First, the viscosity: 10 W 40: cold climate. 15 W 50 and 20 W 50: hot climate.

100% synthetic (expensive diester 300, cheaper single ester 7100), normally not for running in period. For extreme uses.
30% synth: 5100 and 3100 "technosynthese" (commercial appellation): Very good indeed, cheap.
Mineral: 3000. Certainly too ordinary for FZ 16 engine and gearbox, that get very hot ad are already "medium/ high" performance.

                            KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid!)
When I do something stupid, my consolation is to know that I'll do the worse one only once!

I found a jet and it says 17.5.I am changing it to a bigger one as a ff filter was installed some time ago.the main jet was already changed.
What is the unit of measurement?
And is iftex system g suitable for the bike?

My mechanic recomended getting one of those spray bottles that the barbers use, fill it with diesel and spray the engine with it and leave it for 15-20 mins for washing the bike. I tried it and it made quite a difference. After you let the diesel sit for about 20 mins, wash and rinse with soap water and a brush. Works wonders.
