        Hey Novice,

the screeching sound is very much ok dude......its just the dust tht gets collected in between the caliper and disc.......dont wrry and ride carefully.....

do pull ur bike above 4500 rpm but below 6000 rpm once in a week or so but jsut for few seconds....it will help open up things...

and cant say much bout the gear,......yes the gears seem to be a little hard comapred to unicorn or pulsar but it seems its common with all FZs.....

        • Honestly... i have started to have a lot of physical problems with the FZ. in Bombay during peak hours and doing 30km one way seems to be taking its toll. even when you get the perfect riding position you somehow get twitchy after accelerating and breaking.

i am looking for a new set of crossbars to raise the height and orient the bars a little bit towards the rider. else. the seat will also have to change.. everything else seems great.

anybody with recomendations for seat and crossbars?

Thnx for replying bro....yes the gears ARE hard..even my friends brand new P200 has smooth gears...so is there no solution to this???

And yes, just touched the 5000 rpm mark today for a moment..

Hello Amit, I learnt from my showroom owner that FZ fairing like r15 is available, but due to cost he did not ordered it... dont know how much its true.....

Guys I would just like to share with all this short piece of riding experience. Dont think its a suitable thread to put it down, but since its brief and concering the FZ I would not hesistate to do it....hehehe.
Day before yesterday, i.e. 2nd May, I went for a adventurous ride cum helping my close buddy for a local movie shooting. The roads was fantastic, feels like riding in foreing roads which are very well banked and the curves are too very sexy. The surroundings are full of beautiful landscapes which was later covered with fog to such an extent that the road was later not visible even about 15 yards ahead. Handling was perfect with the FZ. but there was one problem still i could feel that miss in the throttle when reaching about 70 to 80 kms mark. Dont know if anyone of you are facing this small problem. On full throttle and about 70 to 80 kms, even if i dont leave the throttle, there seems to be a slight miss in the acceleration on straight roads...is it normal? try out like this: find a straing long road, get yourself to about 70 to 80 kms in full throttle, then concentrate on the response of the bike. I found this miss in acceleration/speed. if you also find this problem please let me know.....have been facing this for long in long journeys and high speed.....My bike has done 5000kms plus. Do share me your experiences k guys?

Later after the shooting, I accompanied my other 2 biker friends on pulsar 150 and 180 for a trip to a very remote village named 'Wahkhen'. Dammz the road was too very bad, about 12kms (up and down) of the road was filled with gravels, or wattery, or muddy, grassy or even rocky! The FZ and pulsars was sliding, bumping and everything else that a road could offer. And I should say handling of FZ is fantastic even in such road conditions and inspite of the less grip of the tyres.....hahahaha...The wide tyres (both rear and front) offer a lot of advantages. And because of the less grip of the tyres the bike was drifting madly, throwing left and right!
Another 12 kms (up and down) as a very narrow road passing through a very dense jungle and all uphill. Knowing about weird animals, about weird creatures crossing the road made our skin filled with goosebumps! hahhahaa.... There were stories of "Puri" (sort of mermaid or river gods) who crosses the roads at night. And we were instructed not to bother any weird creature passing by and to allow them to cross peacefully without harm. Well thankfully we did not encounter any such weird creatures except villagers greeting us "Hey! Hoy!" in their loud tones. it was about 7pm to 8pm by then. My pillion friend got scared that he told me that he would sing all the way so that I would know that he is still sitting behind me....hahaha wat a Joke! But surely, at many times I was scared too if the person sitting behind me is my friend! ANd every now and then I had to ask him if he is the one....hehehehehehe! Finally when we reached the main road, we were relieved with a sigh! and Each rider and pillion was sharing their own weird experiences throught out the journey, the sounds, people, road and everyting else......
Well that was my latest adventurous trip on my FZ and hope for some more weird experiences....lol.....

                  • @HellRider

Hello Hellrider, I just called up the showroom manager. He informed me that FZ16 fairing is not available/produced by Yamaha, meaning the genuine parts as produced by Yamaha Motor India Ltd. But he told me that the fairing for FZ1000cc is available but not through yamaha showroom. You might enquire from some private/local dealers in your nearby shops. He also told me that it may or may not be compatable with FZ16 but if little modifications/adjustment is done then it will do. You can check out in bike parts dealers, they might have. As in my locations, no such parts are available so I cant give you further info regarding this.....

Anyways, Good Luck in your findings and do share if it fits.... thanks!

Relax buddy, you'll get used to it-FZ has a very upright seating posture&handlebar. We have got used to R15, FZ should be a piece of cake!

                      • Yamaha Logo missing at the back

                        Hi,

I was wondering if anyone else faced a similar issue.

I bought an FZ in Jan' 09 and at the back-end of the bike, just under the rear seat below the pointed end, is a small hole covered with a hologram.

In other FZs I saw that they had a round button sort of a thing with the Yamaha logo present.

Let me know if your bike carries a hologram and whether you got that rectified at the showroom/dealer.

                        Many Thanks,
                        -Asim

@Soulstation: Ya I agree with Sarvajit. I am 5'9 and about 59kgs and handling of FZ posses no problem to me. Handling is comfortable even in Off road conditions. Just had a 12 kms off road ride and no sprain or problem of any kind except that my tank cover screw, which was not properly tightened, flew off......lol.... Just relax and enjoy the ride. Relax your arms and your shoulder buddy and put your weight on your arse and enjoy the Monster....lol...

@others FZ owners: Guys has anyone clean the Chain by yourself? I bought the Yamaha Genuine Chain Cleaner yesterday costing Rs.450/-. I tried spraying the chain with it, but dont seems to get a 99% of the chain clean. The chain cleaner cleans good but the dirt dont come out easily expecially at those joints. I was wondering if we could clean the chain with petrol, kerosene or any other cheaper chemical before using the Yamaha Chain Cleaner as a final touch. Of course the chain cleaner gives good result, but damm its expensive to use every now and then considering the riding environment and the rain.
                            Does anyone have an advice?

                              • I use an OKS chain spray to lubricate the chain, and get it cleaned at every service. But there seems to be some noise coming from the chain rear sprocket... i ve done 7k+ of harsh driving though... m looking for a solution.
chain spray helps keep chain rust free n costs 200 bucks n mine, has been there for 4 months with me... not even half finished

But I can't find a road headed that way.
