does not look stunning to me.Originally posted by Devilboy View Postwell as physic explains..
.. the more the surface area of the tyres in contact with the road the more the friction and hence the better the grip of your typres. So FZ rear tyres will have better grip over dry road as well as wet road. But again it depends on the thread of the tyres. The more those threads, the better the grip.
As compared to bajaj's rear tyres, the threads of fz is lesser but due to its wide tyres its fine and good for the wet roads too.
Well for sure, the rear tyres does creates a lot of dirt and water being sprayed on the motorist behind...and for this reasons, my biker friends don't ride behind me....hahhahahha... Some time back while riding on a gravel road, with my friend following me, a small gravel thrown by the rear tyre just hit his helmet....hahhaha....thankfully he wore the helmet otherwise it might have hit his face.....lol.....

I agree with Sarvajit regarding the water splashing the back of the rider....it does creates a hell lot of dirt....
But do you think pulsar's 200 swing arm can fit this 140 size tyre?
And ya here's the pic of my FZ tank cover, sprayed with Chrome effect paint. Well the last two pic is of my Monster's Arse (FZ tail view) after taking off the tail cover which contains the Yamaha logo.

ok i might have got that wrong buddy....
friction is independent of the apparent surface area....but again not totally independent in the case of tyres...thanks for the correction. Well All we need to know right now is that Friction provides the force to accelerate, stop or change the direction of the tyres. But for sure the greater the friction/traction between the tyre and the ground the better the grip and the lesser the chances of skidding/sliding sideways.
I just googled this out regarding thread of tyres:
The tread is the part of the tire which comes in contact with the road surface. The tread is a thick rubber, or rubber/composite compound formulated to provide an appropriate level of traction that does not wear away too quickly. The tread pattern is characterized by the geometrical shape of the grooves, lugs, voids and sipes. Grooves run circumferentially around the tire, and are needed to channel away water. Lugs are that portion of the tread design that contacts the road surface. Voids are spaces between lugs that allow the lugs to flex. Tread patterns feature non-symmetrical (or non-uniform) lug sizes circumferentially in order to minimize noise. Sipes are valleys cut across the tire, usually perpendicular to the grooves, which allow the water from the grooves to escape to the sides in an effort to prevent hydroplaning.
here are some links which could explain regarding "tyres and friction/traction" if needed to clarify. And this can help in choosing the tyre type according to the road conditions.

@ Shadowfax, Binoy, Dual Disc & Mindgrinder: ya did it with spray paint. I know it looks kinda ugly to others...it doesn't matter though....
.... the tank cover actually got cracked and scratched so I had to do some experimentation with paints to cover the defects before getting a new one....lol....
... so it doesn't matter much if it looks stunning or not at the moment.

Thats right, but imagine the carbon fibre giving it the exclusive look...Even a coating would do, instead of the whole thing being carbon fibre...Look at the R15 seat cowl/tankpad, you'll know what I mean.Originally posted by Shadowfax View PostBut I heard that the plastic part on tank is changeable... so if there are scratches, why not to get a new one ?

@Sarvajit: Ya carbon fiber (dull black) looks would look great... was planning for it after finishing off with the present chome effect paint... Thanks for the advice, I just checked the R15 pic. Even the chrom effect paint would look good if the whole body is painted. Chrome effect gives a metallic steel finishing which really looks awesome! Imagine the whole body (at least the cover parts) is in Chome effect? Wont it looks very eye-catching? though maintenance would be a big high.....
And ya the cover costs about 600 bux for each sides. So why buy it at the moment if small repairs can be done at home....
Thanks Shadowfax for your appreciation. and ya sorry, I didn't mean to criticize anobody about the individual opinion. Only the first part of the sentence was for you......
....Infact everyone has there own opinions...
No hard feelings from my side.....

you are right if it was a metallic tank, and when we drop our bike down, then its gonna be a hell of a lot of work to fix it... for deep scratches and paint rip offs, its easy to replace the side cover (like a mobile phone panel).. only a few allen screws, and voila.. and one side tank panel costs Rs.550.
BUt any way i think its not wise to replace the tank panel in case of minor scratches, due to small crashes, zippers in bags, pants, tank bags, and other rough usage reasons.. then spray painting should be the way to go.

Bulls eye...now thats the real reason of your ankle pain....shoes are a must for toe shifters bro...unless its very ultra smooth buttery gear....even my toe pains while using sandals...so switched to shoes...you better too....Originally posted by thinkmms View PostMy pain in the left ankle, is evidently increasing by the day, doctor said, i should try using shoe for gear shifts.. I normally use sandals (ventilated feel)- with toe exposed, meaning i shift my gears with my exposed toe only...
so i must wear a shoe and check the difference.
and yes the gear shifts are slightly harder, but at every service it softens.
