Pacer Motors at Infantry Road is selling custom painted FZ-16. No custom painted FZ-S available until last week atleast!Originally posted by pranay View PostI also had heard the FZ-16s were being sold with custom paint from the Yamaha Dealers themselves. I am not sure which dealer amongst all is this.
Wow..!! Just 140 bucks!Originally posted by thinkmms View Postheard r15's discs pads are very very expensive.. nearly costing like those of cars..

R15's rear disc pads cost around 1100 bucks, while the front disc pads cost around 700 bucks!
Yamaha is minting money from R15 owners, even after having sold the bike for so high a price..!! But I guess, the bike's performance overshadows all this..
BTW, how much do the disc pads of cars cost? (just for my info.. I have no freaking idea about it)

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

any way.. the disc pads of sub 3 lak rs cars (chevy sparks, santro, wagon r) all costs 900 to 1000 rs 2 sets of 4 discs pads...
still nothing comes to the thrill of riding a bike ...
imagine maintaining superbikes, like MT 01 , R1, hayabusa, the disc set costs 3500 rs and above for 3 set of 6 pads...

yes, as some one said... cars have two discs in front and 2 drum brake at rear each wheel (some higher end cars have all 4 wheels with discs).. so two discs pads for one wheel , thus 2 set of 4 discs, means 2 for each of front wheel discs.. and 4 set of 8 discs means, two for each of front and rear wheels.. that should make u clear bro.Originally posted by tibby View PostI will vouch for that too.. and for those superbikes, u have 4 discs pads in front and 2 at the rear.. so total of 6 disc pads...Last edited by thinkmms; 05-26-2009, 10:56 PM.

its not just you, every FZ owners out there face this weird fuel drinking habits.. I tried riding 100 kms at an average 50 kmph. the mileage was 42 kmpl, and when i increased my speed to 70-80 kmph, the mileage came down to 36 kmpl. It should be due to the enormous torque given by the small engine. it seems working really hard to produce the power , thus burning more fuel than similar sized engines.Originally posted by ankit63 View PostEarlier my FZ 16 used to give average of 40....now its has dropped to 38 and nw 37 last time....what could be the problem guys...
even yami service guys are clueless about this problem

There are a lot of factors that determine the Fuel Efficiency (FE):Originally posted by thinkmms View Postits not just you, every FZ owners out there face this weird fuel drinking habits.. even yami service guys are clueless about this problem
1. Optimum tyre Pressure - Maintain tyre pressure as per Owner's Manual. Also get it checked regularly.
2. Braking - Lesser braking = higher FE (& vice-versa)
3. Gear shifts - Frequent gear shifting = Low fuel efficiency
4. Speed - High speeds (60+) = Low fuel efficiency
Also, accelerate slowly whenever shifting up gears.. And avoid riding in higher gear at lower speeds (the high torque of the FZ may entice you into doing the contrary).
In case you guys are doing everything correctly & still finding your bike's FE dropping drastically, then even I'm foxed..
Anyways, you should be sufficiently happy with an FE of around 40 (+-2) for the FZ due to its wide rear-tyre profile..

thanks for the tips. and yes it is must to maintain those things u said.
BTW can one explain me , how to adjust the air screw for optimum performance. since, in yami SC, the guys simply rotate the screw just like that , whenver i give them my FZ for service. there should be a more technical and precise way to do it right???
i do not want to do any physical changes in the carb, or engine, for better performance..
