Should I be worried? Or is it a part of run-in?

I feel the engine turning a bit rough today... completed 400 km and rarely crossed 55 kmph may be 5 times lasting less than 5 secs each. Tyre pressure is good (28 and 33). Never crossed RPM over 4500.
Should I be worried? Or is it a part of run-in?_____________________________________________

after the high flow air filter and no change to the fuel flow your bike is probably running lean and hence the trouble at higher rpm's.Originally posted by JiNS View PostHi all,
I have fixed K&N RC1060 airfilter and NGK iridium Spark plug on on my Fz few days back. Performance bacome better...but after 7k rpm it is jerking (before it was touching 9K easily) so im not able to achieve the max performane.
Experts please help me resolve this problem...
Thanks in advance

After installing the filter showroom guys had tuned it up once. So u r taking about proper carburetor tuning or re-jetting?

No problems, totally chilled, forgot to mention about my comet too. Anyway, what I meant was that we don't expect any problems in a new Bike. The SHOGUN was long gone. I sold my P 180 classic & bought the FZ, ORANGE colour. I also checked the accessories mentioned in this thread, at the dealership, they're not so BAD at all. The Gold is only bright in the brochure, but if you see it in real, you can actually say they are anodised. They looked pretty okay, but still they're not upto my taste.Originally posted by yamdoot View Post@GD76.. good to know u have ridden so many bikes in the past which would obviously give a DIY experience to the dumbest rider.. its only the kind of questions u asked did make me feel u were a newbee.. anyways, ride safe n chill !
P.S- did u say u sold the shogun to buy an FZ?

Re:First Service
Standard stuff..chain treatment, oil check, water wash..costs about 350/- in Panache,B'lore. The bike felt much better.Originally posted by anirudh fz1 View Posthey what did they do in first service, did they change the engine oil & how much did it cost
my fz has not done lot of miles donno if i shd give for first service
About the speeds after run-in,I checked with a few people here and what they say is as long you don't put strain on the engine it should be fine.I did try to push it on Outer ring road,it seemed to strain when reaching 60kmph but felt better after while pushing all the way upto 90kmph.

Funny Digiometer
Hi All,
I think this is common problem, but still inviting comments on this..
Dont you feel that the Fuel Indicator is completely 'Stupid'?
In my case, It shows almost anything. Start of a ride, It'll indicate 2 bars, 5 kms down it'll change to 1 bar, then after some time, back to normal 2 bars and if its in mischiev mood, then it'll show 3 bars!!!

Has any of u experience this?SAVE TIME....SEE IT MY WAY

Chain Oil
Hi,
My FZ sounds more like Pulsar these days, A month back, i went to mechanic, he heard the voice, lubricated the chain, and the Yamaha Voice was back..
Now again the engine seems to be noisy..
Can any 1 suggest me the correct lubricant to be used for FZ?
Also tell me the quantity and frequency of lubrication..
Thanks in Advance! Cheers..SAVE TIME....SEE IT MY WAY

Hmm, I also wanted to move my number plate between the headlight and the mudguard, but it seems like, if you brake suddenly the shock absorber conracts all the way and the headlight setup 'almost' touches the mudguard. So I decided against it !!Originally posted by krates View PostHey guys can you please answer the question below
can that number plate be removed from it's head to between head and tire ?
how much it will cost to get a better looking headlight for it ?
In the user manual it did not mention anything to be maintained after the 1st service. I was maintaining 45 KMPH as the max speed before the 1st, after the 1st, I did not really care. Now the mileage I am getting is 35 KMPLOriginally posted by azharali01 View Postthe question of mileage has come up so many times. and i was waiting for this day untill i got my friends FZ16 2nd service done.
i ask all those who own FZ16 and try to rule the road from the day the got their hands on FZ16... whats the speed u drove before the first service and whats the speed u drove after the first service.
the average speed before 1st service should be not more than 55kmph. and even if u do exceed 55kmp, u should vary the speed such that u dont put pressure on the engine. and after 1st service.. its a limit of 75kmp.
my friend maintained the same and now he is getting 55kmpl!! now he and me drive in high speed but still dont find much drop in the mileage. and that what the technician said at the pearl yamaha!!
and one more thing....
the upgrades for FZ16 r to be released on 3rd Feb. could get more info other than that there r air intake systems, brake calpers, handle clips and foot rests. there might be more he said. lets hope they have engine upgrades also.
Any ideas what can be done to improve on this ??Last edited by leadpb; 02-03-2009, 03:11 PM.

Orion Motors, Blore
Actually I had done that in 2nd Service. But I did not get any good response from them. I have been going to Orion Motors in Bangalore for service. I will try Bangalore Wheels the next time. I am not enjoying what the Orion guys are [not] doing!!
