And yes, just touched the 5000 rpm mark today for a moment..

    hi,

dont wrry...every bike has certain differentiating characteristic....though the gears are hard they are very positive.....there are hardly any false neutrals......u will get used to it....and dont wrry u can ocassionaly touch 6000 rpm as well but only for few seconds...

    • Thanks!

      Yes, it's a sticker.
But why does one have to buy it..... Shouldn't it come bundled with the bike itself.

Ya Rust got cleared with the Yamaha Genuine chain cleaner....the noise are less now and the ride smoother. How come the Chain spray cost only rs.200/-? I bought the Yamaha chain spray (lube) for about rs.400+.

Rust would go away with the Chain cleaner but not with the chain lube....
As for the noise of the rear sproket, its there in pulsar too.

        • I guess I need to chip in here...it is not sufficient to just spray the lube. Before using the chain lube, be sure to clean the chain. You can use Motul Chain Clean for that, or else get it cleaned by the SVC guys. In case you are doing it yourself, the procedure is as follows:
Step 1: Place vehicle on centerstand, ensure rear wheel is off the ground.
Step 2: Start engine, let it run in 2nd gear.
Step 3: While the chain is moving, spray the cleaner evenly.
You will notice black drops falling on the ground.
Step 4: Accelarate a bit hard so as to let all the dirt come out.
Step 5: Stop the engine, clean the chain with a cloth&do not poke your fingers too far in. If you want, you can even wash the bike with pressure water wash.

Now its time to spray the chain lube. Follow Steps 1, 2&3 for this.

@Devilboy: Which Yamaha chain lube are you talking about? I got the Yamalube for Rs.1400. It is the powdery white type of lube, from Japan.

Other options are Motul Chain Clean&OKS.
Sometimes even after cleaning&lubing the chain the sound doesn't go. Then you need to check the slack (sometimes too tight), or else clean&lube the sprocket too. The tool kit that comes with the bike does not have the necessary tool for opening up the sprocket.

Ya, I performed all the four steps this early morning itself. But it is not enough to clean properly as dirt still remains at the joints of the chain. I even used a toothbrush to clean it but lacked Pressure Water wash. And it is not affordable to spray the chain cleaner every now and then after collecting heavy dirt to clean the chain completely and clearly as new...

Well I am talking about the Yamaha Chain Lube which cost almost Rs.500/-, dont know if it is specifically meant for FZ. Your one might be specific for R15 and heard that R15 parts, accessories etc are much costler than the parts of FZ. Well the one I got it from the Yamaha showroom is not powdery but its sticky liquid. And ya, most of the genuine parts and accessories are "Made in Japan", seen this in most of the accessories plastic covers.
Oh! I forgot to mention one thing. As I had earlier spoken that my tank cover screw came off during an off road ride. I went to get the screw and the washer for it. You know wat? The screw cost 25 bux and the washer cost 24 bux!

So how much does the Motul Chain clean and OK costs?
Thanks a lot for chipping in.....hehehehe

I tried spraying the chain with it, but dont seems to get a 99% of the chain clean. The chain cleaner cleans good but the dirt dont come out easily expecially at those joints. I was wondering if we could clean the chain with petrol, kerosene or any other cheaper chemical before using the Yamaha Chain Cleaner as a final touch. Of course the chain cleaner gives good result, but damm its expensive to use every now and then considering the riding environment and the rain.
              Does anyone have an advice?]
it will sound peculiar but earlier I used to of cleaning my chain with the Burnt Oil
it really worked fine for me ,
              cheap, and working Jugaad

you may not have noticed it, but someone may peeled it off from there,
its a common damn thing happens on FZ,
or if its not present till the purchase date you can ask your dealer to give you one,

i still think it would be better to use a crash bobbin, for eg.

See your link...looks good and appealing....but dont think it will have a place for FZ16/S.... looks like they are made of rubber, good impact-absorber....
By the way are they available in Indian Market?

i would prefer to spend on Split seat installation then buying this Mesh Seat ,
                                but its undoubtedly comfortable,
i think if you find in any seatcover shop you will find better options and cheaper too
