  • Had a fall this morning while coming to office. I was going the wrong way to reach office on time. On a blind turn another 2 wheeler came I used front brakes and bingo.....had a fall on the oncoming bike. Somehow managed to lift the bike and saw the front fairing broken .

Went to office which was very close with broken fairing. Completed the morning tasks and asked colleages to look over till I am back from SVC.

Reached Ganesh Enterprises in Vikhroli, Mumbai. Really pathetic SVC for the first time I was coming here since it is close to my office & house.

The mechanic did the inspection and told that front fairing with the headlights is broken. Which I already knew . The guy who manages the vehicles is not ready to repair my bike today. He tells me that I need to leave my bike and come tomorrow.

He told that he needs to inspect what all is wrong....there might be some issue with the forks too.

He thought I was arguing too much and told me that he cant help & can be done tomorrow only. Lets see tomorrow what hapenns.

But one thing I noticed today.....Yamaha India is selling its bikes but not ready to increase the number of SVC. There are only 4 authorised SVC in Mumbai. Which is really pathetic as compared to the number of Yamaha bikes on road.

Any idea how much the front fairing cost?? The SVC guy told me it would cost 700 RS .

      • Hey guys,

Got my red FZ on friday from Orion Motors..I previously had a
P 200cc..but was stolen..Neways I simply love this bike ..Its just a treat to ride it in Blore's traffic..Had filled in petrol worth 200 bucks (~3lts)..Orion said they had filled in 1 ltr as well..So maybe in total 4 ltrs (if they arnt lying)..Have completed almost 100kms and there is still enough gas left..

I have got a helmet lock, crash guard fitted as well..Just wanted to know about the wheel lock(for theft and all)..Had gone to JC Road but cudnt find any..The guys said wheel lock cant be fitted in this due to the fork size..I dun want to take chances, like I said my pulsar was stolen..

So guys plz suggest me some thing..I dun want to have that Auto cop installed, it will just kill the battery..

        Any other alternative..Plz help..

Thanks in anticipation & Sorry for the long post

PS: Thanks Anand for ur help..I will make sure i dun get it serviced at Orion

Actually not the complete fairing is destroyed. The front part which holds the bulbs is gone. And he quoted me 700 Rs.

Just had a chat with Motul distributer here in Mumbai. As per him SS is not in grade of 15W40 but in 15W50. Also 15W40 is there but it is a mineral oil and not SS. Only available SS oil which Motul provides is 15W50.

If you are looking for SS of W40 grade, u could try Petronas.... I'm using it, more than 6k kms on it.. still going good (yea I know its time to change it out but it is still running ok). its good.

And sorry to hear about it... they ALWAYS take a 2nd look at the forks.. whether u hav a minor scratch or a full on crash. In all probability, they'll change it up.

And yse, 4 for mumbai is pathetic.. there are 6 in Pune itself..

This is good news , I was wondering my oil is about 4.5k kms old ( agip FS) and it's done for , plan to shift to petronas . Is it full synth or SS ???

This is surprising . For a place like mumbai only 4 SVC's ? well then again maybe because it's mumbai , finding place down there sure is hard , Bangalore has a truck load of SVC's and new ones are coming up as well ....

Yeah I know. The SVC's around here service around 25 bikes a day. Forget about the regular checks they hardly do any work in your bike what you mentioned.
Yamaha should seriously think about increasing the number of SVC's here in Mumbai or they are gonna suffer really bad in long run. What say guys?

                      • Hello All,

I have one query although not related to FZ or Fazer, but lower sibling of it SZR.

Now similar to FZ and Fazer, SZ R doesnt have kick start. Now my question here is:

                        - What if i go out for a week keeping my bike parked, and if I start the bike using electric start will it start?

                        - What needs to be done if the battery is dead?

                        - How would I start the bike without kick if battery is drained out?

                        - Is there any way to save battery from draining when I am out for a week, I have heard that removing +\- wires from battery will save it from draining, is it true?

                        • Just brought my bike from SVC. Took the broken fairing opportunity for my 7th Paid service.

                          Total expenses as follows:
                          1. Body Cowl Upper: 676 Rs
                          2. Frame which keeps the headlight in position: 631 Rs
                          3. Clutch Cable & Clutch Lever (which really needed replacement): 600 Rs
                          4. Electricals which he messed up and I paid: 50 Rs
                          5. Labour: 150 Rs
                          6. Chain Lube (which I didn't ask for): 120 Rs
                          7. Cable **** (forgot what he mentioned): 150 Rs
In all 2377 Rs for my broken fairing and 7th Paid service ....also to mention I got Oil on my own which is not included in the above mentioned amount.

If it is a brand new bike it will not be a problem to keep even for 2 weeks.<my experience 12 days>
if the battery is dead take to nearest svc or local mech,he will charge it for u.
Lastly if u want to start when battery is weak switch off all lighting buttons push the choke, wring the throttle 5 to 6 times,,then push forward with gear engaged..push the satrter--hope it starts.
