bro,1stly why do u want to make fz like xtreme?Fz is world apart advanced from xtreme.the soundchange is just to show the yamaha trait which is known for that heart warming sound..2ndly as ur bike is relatively new spark plug gap will be done by the svc.You can clean the air filter & carb but I would suggest you to enjoy the deep grunt of Fz.It is worth every penny for ur bike..

+1^ Just listen to any superbikes firing !! Even I liked the super smooth engine note before I heard the engines notes of superbikes like CBR1000 RR,FZ1.Although they are very different but all in all you'll have fun later on,don't worry that's fine.

Bro , the CBZ-X is a different machine , and each of them have their own characteristics ... The thing is when our bikes are new we are so alert or sensitive to such small changes that we feel something's wrong with it ... thats just natural for us ... If it was possible for us to change our engine sound we'd all try for an inline 4 sound right ???

secondly why would you want to adjust the spark plug gap ? are you having problems with the firing ? the sound of the engine is bound to change as the kms increase ... I don't really think you should worry about it ... and you can't clean the air filter , as it is a paper element filter ...

I think we can clean the air filter....
the procedure is mentioned in the owner's manual....

you first tap the excess dirt out of it and then blow it to get the rest of the dirt out...

No dude, you cant clean the air filter completely even with the tap out & blow methods..

To clarify it further, I have Quoted below the clarification by OLD FOX sir himself..

"There apparently is a LOT of confusion regarding blowing of air through a paper element filter to clean it. Time to clarify things here.

Paper Element filters CANNOT be cleaned by merely blowing or sucking air through them. The paper element is cellulose paper that has loose fibres which provide a tortuously contorted path for the air to flow through. (Think of a dense forest of bushes that does not allow any straight-line movement through it all) Air molecules are a lot smaller than dust and also carry lesser inertia. So while air molecules can twist and turn and squeeze their way through the cellulose fibres, the accompanying dust cannot and it gets stuck between the fibres along the way. Blowing air through the filter in the reverse direction will not help. It might displace some surface dust as seen as the initial puff that arises when the blower air first hits the filter but the dust trapped inside the filter stays put. Force can reverse a linear path but no amount of pressure can make the particles twist and turn out of the maze of fibres they are stuck in. The very randomness of the pattern that caught them on the way to the engine now holds them fast.

Tapping the filter body on a hard surface will loosen SOME of the dust and will probably make you feel better but the only real way of getting back the flow is to replace the paper filter with a NEW one.

PS: If you still want to 'clean' the filter by blowing air through it, do it from the engine side or the cleaner side. Though I repeat, you cannot clean a paper filter element in any way."

The above quote by old fox sir is coincedentally in a DIY thread for FZ16 air filter cleaning itself check it out

Hence, I would suggest anyone of us to simply replace the air filter element which costs as much as our mineral oil & can be easily afoordable every 10000 km..

              • ^^ Thank you , this is exactly where I got my information from ... at 230bucks I think a 10k km interval is more than worth it ... I just replaced at 12k .

Just wondering whether anyone tried to change the stock tire to dirt bike tire or is it even possible? The reason is I live near the sea (next to it) and the stock tire did not go well on the sand. I have seen some dirt bikes well crossed on the sand. So I was wondering whether possible to change the stock tire with dirt bike tire. Kindly advice from all angles including the look. Thank you all in advance.

Seems no one has tried. Or I was asking a stupid question... Thanks guys anyway.... Cheers.

Vishwas had used a nice tyre for FZ during his visit to Leh last year.. According to him the offroading tyre was pretty decent on FZ so get in touch with him for further details..

I was also on the lookout for a replacement tyre for the FZ. FZ stock tire is radial tubeless. Chances of punctures due to stones is extremely high in Ladakh ride so searched everywhere for a replacement tyre. Rishabh, being a FZ owner also pitched in but no one had it in stock. Ultimately found one Eurogrip tyre which would fit the stock rim but since it was larger in size, I had to remove rear tyre hugger. - VISHWAS

Relevant link to his blog where you can see the images of rear tyre..

Looks good IMO & those threads would work great on sand as compared to stock tyres.

                          I Hope this helps you

They claim it last 3k km (the service interval), but engine feels rough and strained at the very 1.5k km range.
