When you take resistance away from intake/exhaust you've shifted the peak abit higher. So in short loss in low end, but gain in top end.Motorcycling Experience:

They charged 633rs for the 1st free service(?) and the bike is not even washed properly...
Even they are not able to find a small tyre issue (which was resolved with the help of xbhp guys and Paras yamaha svc)
Also, If I rev the bike for more than 5K RPM, I can feel heavy burnt smell is coming from the engine area after the 1st service...Complained to the Sv center guys...They told everything is fine from their end....I dont know, whether they are really incompetent or not willing to help...I really regret my decision in buying from Sri motors (only + was it is near to my home)

Just for soundOriginally posted by abhijitkn View PostWhat the hell? What you guys are doing to the stock exhaust?
Why you removed the muffler? Free flow with catalytic converter?
This is a big joke!

Btw I'm not planning to keep it.
@junoirbiker: did it

Hello mate no popping sound on my bike while decelerating.. and about low end torque, found a bit more than stock. In speed breakers where before I had to shift to 2nd gear, now can go in 3rd without any knocking, rather real smoothly. I always had a doubt that my carb was running rich... Now it came to a balance I guess..Originally posted by christo View PostPlease share some pics, and explain the process a bit?
Thanks
Edit:
Done it
Cutting was easy, if needed easy to weld back too.
Pros: bassy sound, reduced some 2kgs
Cons: I feel the low end torque reduced a bit, continues popping sound when decelerating(under 4k rpm. No problem when idling).
Under 4.5k rpm it growls above that it screams.

M planning to add a free flow exhaust of average quality after the catcon (the cut part) now, just for looks and a better sound (hopefully). Will it harm the engine? Because what I personally think is as all the job is done by the catcon already, our stock muffler filled with glass wool is just for sound isolation. So does it make any difference if I add another exhaust just for looks and sound isolation?Yamaha R15 V1 2011

Would you please elaborate and explain a bit about cons of using free flow with catalytic converter. Thanks.Originally posted by abhijitkn View PostWhat the hell? What you guys are doing to the stock exhaust?

Hi guys
My new fz16 clocked around 450Km now. I am planning to change the engine oil. Today, I have purchased the engine oil from the authorize service center near by. They have provided me a 1l YAMALube, but when I checked the manual the I can see that the oil capacity is 1.2l. I am confused now, please help me

Guys,
My ride's engine is making a lot of noise these days. It makes a grinding noise on lower rpms like 4k-5k and after a hard run or thrashing , i could hear a noise like metal striking metal something like a ting-ting noise.
What could be the problem guys, I need to explain the SVC clearly on the issue or those dumb heads never look into anything seriously.

Don't worry about it. Replace the oil. After replacement, check the oil level once the engine is warm. If you find the oil level to be low then top her up. Also during your next oil replacement its suggested that you opt for Motul 3000 4T 20W40 oil instead of Yamahalube as many riders here (including me) would agree that its a very good oil and it costs the same as Yamahalube.Originally posted by ramedathundil View PostHi guys

About the grinding noise, check your engine oil and if find that the oil is full of impurities (black in colour) or doesn't feel sticky between your fingers, then replace the oil.Originally posted by Mizt View PostGuys,

Also check for chain-slack and if its too much then that might cause the noise. After all this if it still doesn't solve the issue then you have to show it to the SVC guys.
About the metallic-pinging noise, don't worry thats coming from the Catalytic converter and it happens to all of us
Cheers!!Your pair of feet can tire you... Your pair of wheels can never tire you...

If the metallic ting-ting noise is coming from the exhaust after a ride, then it's natuaral ..It happens for all the bikes, no need to worry about it.Originally posted by Mizt View PostGuys,

is the metal striking noise coming from the engine, more so when revved?this is the case with me too and the dumb svc or any other mechanics are not able to recognize any problem.though i suspect that the engine is glazed and its the piston rings making the noise.please help bigwigs!Originally posted by Mizt View PostGuys,

Metal striking noise seems to come when idling or it might be like I cant hear them while riding them in the gushing wind with helmet on. But its more prominently heard on idling. Still waiting for help on this oneOriginally posted by juniorbiker403 View Postis the metal striking noise coming from the engine, more so when revved?this is the case with me too and the dumb svc or any other mechanics are not able to recognize any problem.though i suspect that the engine is glazed and its the piston rings making the noise.please help bigwigs!
